It really worth the time, finishing ababio won’t take more than 3weeks for the slowest reader, I finished it 2weeks during my time (2018) and it really worth it, then solve past questions to get familiar with jamb nature of question

One more thing for those finding modern biology bulky you can use essential biology by MC Michael it’s the same thing just make sure you cover it, you are a pre Med start learning how to cover textbooks you can’t escape it starting from 100lvl (UNN) you will cover 18 textbooks in year one and you mustn’t fail any course for you to cross over to pre clinicals, my point here is that you guys should have that spirit of covering textbooks there is no short cut to success there is still time this is just week two of December, start now...! If you have not been reading it is not too late my dear friends and you that have started since September you have upper hands self, I know of a friend who has been preparing for jamb for over 4 months and the day of his mock he score 284(he his in my school the guy is very brilliant) on the main day of his jamb exam he missed it, lucky enough for him jamb fixed a mop up exam for 2018 impromptu he just had 2 weeks to the exam he started revision and smashed 339 in the main exam , it is never too late to work hard be smart that is why you want to be a doctor, medical student are smart, sacrifice anything that is eating your time movies, social media, study and pass first every other thing will be added my dear

Hello!! Medics,

I want to study med&surg in University of Ibadan. Having followed this thread and Jamb threads, I've learnt some stuffs which might help.

There is no secret than to study hard and smart. Hence, I've struggled to purchase textbooks recommended by successful aspirants (lamlad chemistry, new school physics and modern biology) in addition to essential series at hand.

I've never been a dull student (not bragging pls) but 2020 jamb will be my third try. I was offered a course in 2018 (not U.I though) but I rejected because it wasn't what I want. Not offered anything this year since I didn't meet U.I's cut-off point.

I've started reading since September but I'm not sure if I would be able to finish those textbooks within few months left. Pls how can I achieve this because I'm not a nocturnal person?

I often use CBT practice app but the most frustrating part is that, my score varies after each test. Sometimes; 67, 84, 77, etc. what's really wrong? brain fluctuation? it saddens my heart and makes me less motivated. I want stable 90s and aggregate not less than 330.

Pls help the upcoming!!!

I'm not scared of the intensive competition of this course but her requirements of extremely high intelligence and excellent score to secure a slot.

However; I don't wish it becomes easier, I wish i become better.

Use books published by AFP (Africans first publishers) namely;
New school chemistry
New school physics
Modern biology

You can add lamlad Chemistry and physics because of their rich question bank (very important)

No one is saying Lamlad is the recommended text, you'll agree with me that some recommended texts by jamb aren't really very efficient for the utme.
There is no harm in finishing Ababio and then rounding off your preparations with Lamlad which introduce you to exam-type questions that are lacking in Ababio.
I personally used both and Chemistry came out as my highest last year.
No one textbook is just sufficient for an exam like utme.

Lool. This reply sounds very childish to me.. Do you really need to start an intense argument over what you're not sure of, in the first place?
Okay you erroneously pointed out initially about an absence of a particular topic in the Lamlad you're fighting against. Someone corrected you in just that and pointed out the exact topic in the book you could find it under, but you're still arguing. The point is, your argument to me is baseless, honestly. Being that you used just one comprehensive textbook to read for a particular subject in utme and passed it doesn't mean it *must be the same* with others, in fact it is very risky, we all can't learn the same way. Lamlad is like a detailed revision cum past question text and as such, will remain a highly recommended text by previous high utme scorers. Stop trying to disprove or fight this by constantly arguing that the Lamlad is a non essential text, like it's one of those past questions you can ordinarily pick from any shelf. Plus one of the most annoying fact is, you haven't even used the book, I'm not even sure you've set your eyes on it before, yet, you are still arguing about with both the peeps that have extensively covered it and those who are seriously ready to use or get it. To top it all, the funny question you just asked someone like you are about to start a battle of intelligence or something.. I'm not fighting or quarreling with you here, please, but I just need to correct your hard-and-fast method of approach to things like this, especially when it might concern some innocent peeps like prospective jambites that should be reading all these..

Therefore, it's from here that I'll advise you take a step back and quit this baseless argument, you can only serve worthwhile if you want to help chip in by adding your own positive advice—like methods you employed in reading and understanding a textbook from cover to cover or other harmless suggestions. Thanks in advance, for your cooperation.

Good Afternoon FAM! Its TESTIMONY TIME!!! It's with grateful heart, I write to tell everyone that I've been ADMITTED to study Medicine & Surgery.
I did not get this MBBS at my very first attempt, in fact I wasn't offered anything with my supposed good score. I refused to be deterred, I picked myself up and tried UTME again. At the second attempt, I was served with Microbiology instead of my Medicine. I cried and at the same time was left with no choice than to accept it for fear of ridicule that will come with me sitting at home doing nothing. That was when I stumbled upon this thread.
Mother used to tell me that 'achieving one's goals are the perks of life - we shouldn't give up because we did not get it the first time'. On my final lap as an undergraduate of Microbiology, I picked another UTME form which was JAMB 2019. I really did not have enough time to study, I dabbled between reading for my school exams and preparing for UTME.
At some point, I agreed that my decision was a stupid one, I won't give up on my dream and at the same time, my preparations seems not enough. I tried harder and today I can boldly say my preparations did not go down the drain. Today, I write to tell you that for my Second Degree, I'll be resuming come January 6 for my Medical Education at Usman Danfodio University, Sokoto.
To all the Student Doctors here and the Doctors whose success stories above have helped us remain motivated - I say Thank You. You all are the real MVPs. The list is endless but believe me, I can't thank you all.
Salam.

To other aspirants, I don't think I'm in the position to advise anyone because I still need advises and guidance too. But my Father usually tell me that "Sooner or later, you'll clock 25, 28 or even 30. You can as well be a Doctor too".
Smashing UTME is one thing, gaining admission is another facet entirely. Don't be too proud to seek help when you need it. Most of the bosses above have dropped awesome recommendations and I can't fault them.
You need to have start preparing for UTME if you truly want to ace it. You should combine textbooks but ensure they ain't contradictory. Also get a copy of a good PQ too. Most of the utme PQs out there are erroneous - Don't cram PQ answers for UTME. It might have worked for some but not all.
If you haven't started preparing, ask yourself again "Do I really want to study MBBS? Or I'm just deceiving myself?" Dust those books and start reading smart. Relax mid study, stay abreast with information, connect with other aspirants.
Know that UTME score alone doesn't guarantee admission, it will only give you a greater edge than your competitors. 450,000+ or so choose medical related course in 2019 UTME and it's my pleasure to tell you that I secured 1 of the slots available for MBBS in Nigerian University.
You are your biggest motivation, you are also your biggest drawback. Decide which part of you needs to take the lead. The motivated part or the part drawing you back. 'Build on your strength and work on your flaws' is one of my favourite quote. Except you're an All-rounder, there are 4 subjects in UTME and there should be subjects that you'll find simple or easy for you to ace them. Build on those subject - your aim in them should be having nothing less than 90 or 80. If during past tests or exams you usually have 70s in them, this is the time to ensure you reach the 90 pointer. Then those subjects that you know you have to do extra work to pass them well, this is the time to have them as your result back up and score booster. Ensure you study them too. Don't neglect any of the 4 subjects.
Biology, English and Physics were my stronghold. All in all, Find senior colleagues to keep you motivated, connect with other aspirants, Revision is key during preparation - don't just read and believe it has stuck forever like that, practice and practice over again and don't forget the God factor.

Salaam
