THUNDER4real:
For nurses in usa..
Most agencies pay for one month rent and give them some stipend on arrival.
my question:
Does anyone that has migrated successfully as an agency nurse, know the minimum amount a nurse should have before traveling to U.S to enable the nurse settle down ??
7-10k usd.

Good morning nurses, I'm almost rounding up with my RN program at School Of Nursing, UBTH, after which I intend going to UK to do my 1yr Top-up BscN program.
So here's my question. I hope I won't have issues relocating to Canada to work using the Express Entry or PNP route. I don't know how true it is that Canada don't accept UK 1yr top up BscN degree....
Thanks

Honestly my plan is to work abroad there is not I hate like being limited when you have the opportunity to complete something.... Please I heard that the certificate is released to you 2 years after completion of the program...is that true
You can work with either one abroad. You do not need the certificate to process the job. Your notification of license would be sufficient proof when the time comes.

As long as you are below 30yrs when you finish your second degree, you may still stand a chance (depends on your CRS score).
What Canada would or wouldn't accept is highly individualized and dependent on the provinceplus the skill of the individual nurse.

Psychiatry is a specialty in the states and most agencies employ just general nurses. A psychiatric nurse is an Advance practice registered nurse APRN ad that need a special licensure which you cant get from naija.

None.don't be deceived be fore you end up in a quack mushroom auxiliary school that would brainwash you

But it's achievable abroad, save for the cost. I know a couple of former class mates who were art students but ended up as nurses in USA. Could you pls tell me how that is done? I also looked up diploma in nursing in Australia and I think I fit in even as a non- sci. Student.

They are telling you now you will not hear. Those classmates of yours are they RN or assistants? There is no way you can study nursing without having organic chemistry, human biology, physics as a pre-requisites in the US.

Am not a nurse, but just decided to share this piece of information, I guess it's going to benefit one or two or even more. For those interested in working as a nurse in Australia, there are lots of lovely opportunities available. You need not go through the skilled migration program, which it's a bit difficult and time consuming.

All you need do is to search for work visa sponsorship opportunities in Australia for nurses, you will get to see what they require, and funny enough it's not as cumbersome as the aforementioned, you get a work contract which enable you to obtain a work visa direct. It's called TSS 482 visa class. If successful, the hospital will facilitate your licensing with the parent body called AHPRA and visa processing most at times through their HR consultants, and you get to work for two years and file in for your permanent residence the third year. You can carry out your search using LinkedIn and other viable recruitment sites like indeed and seek.

NB : It's up to you to carry out your due diligence and ascertain the contacts you get from this sites. I have seen a handful of this opportunity which necessitates me sharing this information. I don't want to get banned by posting such links here, so it's up to you to make your search.

sorry for the lengthy post, pls bear with me, honestly it wasn't intentional. Wish you all the very best in your pursuits. Gracias

This is how it works. What you want to study in the US has nothing to do with what classes you took in a secondary school in Nigeria. All you need is to gain admission to a US college, and this is possible through your high school transcript, O'level, and/SAT. Community colleges do not require SAT, they only need your O'level or high school transcript. Several universities also do not require SAT but it is advisable that you take it especially if you are aiming for a scholarship. You can apply for any major you want, it doesn't matter whether you were an art, science, or commercial student, or whether you took chem, physics, or whatever. You can apply for nursing, engineering, or whatever even as an art student. To further buttress my point, you can apply to student Chemistry even if you were an art student who never took chemistry before. U.S. colleges do not care about what department you were in, and you will find several students like you who are just taking that class for the first time. So, if this is what you want to do, have no worries.

Thank you so much for this response. This is exactly what I was trying to explain to the other posters. I know at least five people who were NEVER science students. It's just that I'm not so sure how they were able to do it. Thanks a lot cos now I'm even more certain that's it's possible. We only need to source for the fund cheesy
Pls, is it advisable I choose a community college? Asking if it will have any effect on visa issuance. I'm also looking at the diploma route in Australia. Which is better and easier to process? Thanks

I know many applicants that are still waiting for NMCN to adapt to the new system hopefully they will respond very soon.
For now, verification fee is 53,500 naira and you need to have a valid RN license or evidence that you passed your Nursing council exam if you just graduated to apply for your verification

Like most people have rightly chipped in, irrespective of whether you were a science or art student in Nigeria, you can gain admission to study nursing in the usa.
Being an art student may only mean that you may be required to take more pre requisite courses before the beginning of your main program.
