it's a regulated rule that when a student have carry over's or fail a course after the stipulated period of rounding up his/her course of study, such student can be given a period of 2 years to write and pass that course or courses and if not being able to pass within such period, such student will b given a Certificate of Attendance (COA) instead of the normal Certificate.

Its been over 2 years now since i left school cos i failed some courses and have not done them and a new calendar is starting next Month and I want to know if it's still possible for me to go back and rewrite my failed courses.

You have to get answers to some questions clearly.. Some of the questions are: 1) Did you suspend your study after knowing that you needed a break? 2) Will you CGPA without those course get you something reasonable at least a 2.2? 3) What is the school's rule regarding these(this can still be upturned in Nigeria) - you can only answer this after meeting your course adviser? 4) If answer to 1 - 2 are yes, I will suggest you get to Department and talk with your Course Adviser and see what you options you have.

Dear Op I think the better question is of what Importance is the degree after your graduation knowing fully well that as it is gaan if you were to had initially graduated with 2:1 in Nigeria is just the begining of another hustle. So to be frank do you really need the degree if yes I will strongly recommend you pick a more desirable course you are passionate about and put your very best in it "anything what do you at all is what doing well" And not too worry 4yrs can be really short . Even if the time has elapsed for you to write the course, meet someone especially a professor in your department who can talk to the HOD...you will be allowed to register for the new session and write the courses.

Yes Universities have rules governing it . Rules about maximum time allowed to finish a program are specific but flexible under the powers of the Dean/HOD and other heads of the school.
It's in their powers to bend the rules if they think it's the right thing to do. You may not see this in black and white but it's an unwritten privilege enjoyed by them especially in a Nigerian school

Extra yr is not the end of the world, but it's very very very stupid to leave your degree for 2yrs (probably because of shame) and just treat it like the school will automatically hibernate your program till you come back..if it's a state uni then you might be lucky, but if it's a federal uni then I'm sorry they would have withdrawn you and kept cert of attendance for you..no matter what in this life never be ashamed to do what you're supposed to do, me I've repeated class before and watched my mates go far before me but it never touched me one bit cos I understood what life is all about..to everyone having issues in uni please don't be ashamed to go sort your issues out even if it's re writing the exam, it's what's killing some people these days...no one's opinion about how you live your life will ever pay your bills last last that's just my advice
