Therefore the reason for your blonde hair. Africans do not have the gene and hell you should love it. That hadn't been my point
Ermm... okay

Yes! That's what I can't understand. Even just walking down the street you can find people with long noses and thin lips so I don't see the point she was making.

If she had said that people sometimes value those features more than the flat nose/big lips that are more common, which can lead to discrimination, I would see her point. Because its true.

But she's arguing like some report from some colonial governor from pre-independence..."it's absolutely impossible for the typical Negro male specie to possess a nose that raises to a point..."

Crazy!
I know of someone, a male, he is here on nl, he has a very long nose, the nose is annoyingly long, straight and pointed that I wonder if he is mixed but he isn't, he is just a typical naija guy from the South South, I'm actually waiting for her to come and tell us he is a white guy in pure African skin from a confused gene, lol.

Girl, sorry but you're daft and just don't get the point.

Dark skinned people can have blonde hair, but it's not in the African gene. There are only two blonde hair genes known. The one Europeans have and the other, people like Melanasians.

Yes, darling you might have blonde hair but it's not because of your African gene.

You saying you're from multicultural society makes sense, since they are also societies of different RACES.

Besides, a picture of an Albino's hair isn't a proof of anything, as Albino is lack of pigmentation. Them looking white, doesn't make them white as well.

If at this point you still don't get it, bye

I wonder why some people have taken things so personal yammering on about Black people this, Black people that, making the most stupid generalisations one can think of.

Again I ask, who died and made you judge and self-appointed natural hair warriors?! Rubbish.
I am seriously trying to understand the rational behind it, these migrated Africans are the first to cry blue murder if any form of generalisation comes from the whites, but it is very okay for them to say ridiculous nonsense of their fellow blacks, especially the ones living in Africa, when it suits them, the irony, hypocrisy and double standard reeks in abundance.

I don't want to continue this argument this morning, but it is obvious you are ignorant. Yes, black hair comes in different TEXTURE. Textures is how your hair FEELS like, not its ability to retain moisture.

What you are talking about is porosity and there are only 3 types of porosity, low, medium and high.

Take care and moisturise your hair according to your hair porosity and watch your hair change, instead of wallowing in your ignorance abeg.

Texture ko, texi ni. What does that have to do with retaining moisture? huh
Texture is not just how it feels like. Texture also refers to the thickness or kinks of the hair.

Stop this your chanting of "moisture." And stop peddling your high-end ignorance to the world! Haba!! shocked

If a person has highly kinky or knotted hair, moisture will not prevent the person from feeling pain, while combing the hair.

Such moisture even gets the hair more knotted and tangled, and then pulling a comb through the hair, gets more painful.

Everyone's hair is NOT the same! How long will it take for you to understand that simple bit?

Well, I blame you not. It's clear you've no kids of your own and should you have in the future, a piece of advice for you, instill the right sense of choice in them and not having them feel the world is a happy go lucky place as you are wont to believe. How can you call a mother who has chosen a path for her kid "irresponsible"?
Don't mind her. With the stress of daily living in Lagos and other major cities in Naija, you want to keep wasting valuable time, to be pulling a kid's hair into buns every day....who get dat kind time??

Yes lol I also saw some isoko guy with a pointy nose and thin lips. I asked him if he was Fulani and he told me that everybody asks him that. Maybe it's even the same fellow sef

Very funny argument lol

I never said texture is 'just' how it feels like. Yes, it refers to the individual hair strands as well. It's good you now know the difference because your last posts were implying it was responsible for retaining moisture

You are daft as brush if you don’t understand that having blonde hair is genetic mutation same way albinos lack pigmentations in their hair ,skin and eyes

Girl you are one hell of a silly Munta

melanin pigment is made by special cells called melanocytes. These cells live at the bottom of each strand of hair. When these cells make a lot of melanin, your hair turns brown or black. If these cells don't make much melanin, your hair turns blonde.

You are one hell of an ignorant being .
Go get a refund !

Why do we have to teach little girls to go through unbearable pain for so-called beauty even when they are only a few months old?

I get so upset each time I see a little girl crying for hours unending at the salon while they pull, poke and prod her hair. The moms would actually be the ones holding the girls down while the hairdressers harden their hearts to the children's tears. I always wonder, what exactly are you trying to achieve by putting your child through so much pain just to have her sporting a few awkward-looking weaves? Since she's not old enough to decide that this is what she wants, she shouldn't be stressed and hurt just to look pretty. Are they looking for suitors? Do they have to start so early to stress to impress?

With her natural hair, well-oiled, combed and packed nicely into buns or tails, she'll still be the beautiful princess you gave birth to. I really hate children being put through any sort of skin pain. When my son was a baby, he was fussy about getting his hair cut, so much that we used to wait till he was deeply asleep before clipping his hair. Sometimes we'd only manage to go halfway, but we'll leave it like that until he sleeps again.

How do fathers permit this? When we were growing up, my dad would personally insist on the hairdresser coming to our place to braid so he could sternly warn her to go easy on our heads. When he saw that we still cried regardless, he had them cut off all our hair grin. We hated it then, but at least the gut-wrenching crying stopped.

Some little girls would be sick for days from the tight, skin-breaking braids their mothers would allow someone to put on their heads.

I remember a day I was getting a manicure at the salon, a little girl whose mom had dropped her off was getting hair done at the corner. She cried so much that after a while, there were no tears left to shed. Her irresponsible mother came back after a while and said, "Obego nke izizi?" As in, "Has she cried the first round?"

Just imagine.

Mothers please, this festive period, if your daughter hasn't been tortured yet, kindly look for something that won't cause her any pain and have them style her hair with it (shown in the second photo). She's beautiful however she looks. You're not in a competition with anybody to have the finest child. That's how they'll grow up to believe that they can never be beautiful without weaves and braids.

Please make sure you give your girl(s) panadol and dab their heads with hot water. It would help soothe pain since their mother has ruled that painfully braiding hair is do or die. Get them soft pillows too. I know they'll survive.

Thank you.

Exactly the point. HER girls, her business. Not yours.

And what makes you think her girls find braiding very painful to the point of requiring panadol? Do you know her?

You too. I'm sure you're one of those who would hold kids down while their scalps are pulled from their skulls.

Please kindly use Vaseline to soothe their wounds and ensure to dab them with cold water. They will be fine.

May you also find the peace and joy you so clearly lack this season.

Judge of the universe.

Please use this yuletide season to paddle your canoe and keep your unsolicited opinions to yourself. Thank you in advance.
