Really? You mean your people still go about on Christmas day, visiting and eating at neighbors' and relatives' houses?

I have a small poultry,
My chicken had grown to an enormous size because I fed them well.

Come 24th of December. I sold some and decided to give some to my neighbour because I thought I will be a greedy person if I don't do so.

I felt something when I gave a particular neighbour. She accepted but the happiness wasn't genuine because I saw it in her eyes.

Fast forward to the afternoon, I suspected.

Later went to the dustbin to see my lovely chicken dead and thrown in the dustbin. My mind just told me.

At least she should have thrown it elsewhere not the general dustbin

The chicken that I would have sold for #7000 and make money from it.

Why didn't she kindly reject it, rather than take my Christmas chicken, kill and throw it into the dustbin.

Ooh, I am so angry right now.

I don't know what to do if I should confront her or I should just foam in anger just like that.

If I knew I would have sold it and take my girl out this Christmas,

Similar event happened to me few years back... A neighbour of ours gave us some of their Christmas meal and some drinks. And because my mum had a hatchet with them, she opted to throw away the food. I quickly took the food, put it in a poly bag and hurried down to the beggars in the street. Immediately I brought the food out, the way they rushed me ehhh. I even became afraid self..

But it was evident that they were more than grateful for the meal.

Ever since, I learnt a great life lesson. And I hope to replicate such this year.

Bros just man up and move on... Pls don't even think of taking offence. Whenever u see her, greet and talk with her like u used to.
Make I burst ur brain small.. what if no sooner than her family consumed that chicken than they/ some of her kids died or bad things began to happen like fire incident, accidents, job loss while you are making much more progress ..just saying what if all these began to happen coincidentally ??
Won't you be held responsible Not saying ur gift is evil or something but just letting u see it from another angle...

Now let me tell u a true life story...... Several years back when we were living in the barracks, a middle aged woman gave my immediate elder sister some candies. Unknown to her my sister didn't ingest but brought them to show us. Point to note that we had been well trained not to eat things given to us by anyone/ strangers except those whom my parents personally received and ate theirs. Back to my story, U won't believe that woman confronted my sister that she didn't take the candies she gave her.
Now ,my question is how did she know?? Its obvious she never saw her expectations.
From what we later heard from her neighbours was that when that woman and her family were in kaduna, she had confessed to be a witch during a power deliverance service in a church. There are many more similar stories that we witnessed in the barracks then...
So Bros, like som1 said , now that u know she won't/ doesn't eat just withhold ur gifts next time.. In fact don't give things like that out anymore... The world is a wicked place....Stay woke!!!!! Personally, I don't collect edibles from peeps I am not so familiar with.

A lot of neighbors throw gifts especially cooked food away.

It is just bad taste to throw it away where the person would see it.

She should have made better efforts at disposing it.
Exactly!!!!!! You have sense!!!!! She should have disposed it far away from their house.

With all the analysis, I agree with most of them.
I still believe something is missing which is bad Christian indoctrination over time. People see other people as destiny takers, rituals, enemies, when we don't share same religious beliefs or views.
My dear always learn to stay on your own.

Carry the chicken and call few people to witness , ask her why she didn't reject the gift than wasting it.

Let her know that you knew what she did.

He should ask,but politely,so he'll learn from it.
I'm curious too.
Is it cos of fear of diabolism or cultural issue abi d chicken was a disturbance as some ppl here suggested?

His asking might just aggravate matters...the fact that the lady in question could reject the precious gift means a lot.
At the end of the day, he should just mind his business

I can definitely say it's because your poultry is a discomfort to them. The smell and everything. It can cause resentment.

The lady is so wicked. She should have gifted the chicken to someone else maybe a random bagger on the street.

The cash is still not gonna be used by the receiver but it can be put into charitable causes.
Its different from food especially if its cooked.
By the way, u seem to underestimate how evil the world is
U think people like dangote drink even the water they are offered at ceremonies?
It's not about superstition cos if it was, one wouldn't even collect the cash gifts.
People like us have been brought up not to ever be jealous or eye another persons property.
Not even to be attracted by the sweet aroma of food or drink.
Oga grow up and forget all these spiritual stop. No wonder your life is still where it is.
Re: When A Neighbour Rejects That Christmas Chicken by alhaji04: 6:13pm On Dec 25, 2019
Well, for her to kill and throw the chicken away is not good, or like you've said, she should have dumped it somewhere else.

Now back to you Op, if you give your neighbor a gift and he or she returns it back or dispose it, then it means your relationship with your neighbor is very weak, check your attitude in that compound. Sorry to say.
