Medical bills in USA are location dependent just like it is here in Nigeria
Eg you can do a procedure for 350k in phc while the same procedure would cost you 150k in umuahia or even cheaper Akure.

I suggest you get there stay in a hotel for a day or two while you look for accommodation.

ZaIykeJude:
Hello guys,

I'm looking for any link to an apartment or anyone ready to share an apartment in Richmond Texas any time from Mid January 2020. My wife will be travelling around that time and I will be joining her later but we still dont have the accommodation part settled yet.

I'll really appreciate the help.

Ensure you go with every receipt of payments made at the hospital. Also go with the document you sign as self pay patient without discount.

pointednose:
Hello everyone,

I got a B2 (medical visa) to birth in year 2017. My bill was very low as per self pay patient. I want to renew my Visa this year for a visit. Please I need your sincere advice. Please kindly help. Has anyone renewed after a small bill? What can one do to improve one's chance of renewal?

Thank you.

Hello all and a happy new year to you all.

I've been going through this thread religiously for the past 2weeks since I've been on bedrest, and I find it amazing how it's been a platform of help and wealth dear information to people.

Pls let me first apologies, cos this may be a little long...
I got my first b1/b2 visa in 2009 through an agent (he got appointment, filled form, and few days to interview he gave me a possible Q&A paper to study b4 the interview). In the Q&A he wrote that I had 2 kids, meanwhile I didn't have any kid at that time. Anyways, visa was granted as VO only admired my glasses and asked where I'd been to... been to France once and Dubai several times.
The same agent did same for my Dh and was also granted visa about a month after mine.

We didn't t use the visa until 2011, I arrived NY on 14th Feb 2011, dh arrived on 21st March and then we returned together 8th April. I spent over 7wks while Dh stayed less than 3wks.

We tried renewing separately sometimes in 2012 but we were both refused without much questions.

We later reapplied together in 2013 or so but we were but refused without any question.

Since then, we both didn't bother trying US, we've been to India (medical- ivf) and Dubai (vacation) many times since then.

Before I started my last ivf procedure i persuaded Hubby that we should apply for Canada visit but we were refused in Oct 2019 on the basis of not enough family and financial ties.

Meanwhile, we've been trusting God to bless our marriage with a child and now after almost 10years the Almighty God has wiped our tears and I'm abt 6wks Pregnant. (Giving all glory to God, who did it through an ivf procedure done here in Nigeria)

Now here are my concerns;
1). Now I'm planning to apply for a US medical visa/B2 to deliver my lo and I'm worried that I may be asked about my other children (who don't exist) and I don't want to give any false information or response during my interview, please and please I need your kind advice...

2). I want dh to be there when having lo by God's grace, should I apply with Dh or not and should we both apply for b2 or b2 and b1/b2?

3). My sis stays in Maryland with her family and I plan to stay with her and also use the hospital where she had her 2 sons, is this OK or I should get a neutral hospital so they wont think I'm trying to scout for discounts?

4). I plan to get appointment date in May while my pregnancy would be abt 5mths, hope it's not too early)

5). Also, my sis (based in US) had her 1st lo in 2017 had complications(gestational hypertension) etc both her and lo stayed abt 5days in hospital and her insurance was billed abt $30k, they beat it down and paid a total of $13k for CS with complications.

She cant remember how much she paid for are last baby in 2018 Dec but she said it wasn't upto 13k for cs with her Insurance.

If for instance I'm billed btw 10k-15k for CS without discount, do you think it's wise for me to use this Hospital (it's actually among the best 5 OB-GYN hospitals in MD and 2nd highest no of bab)?

Once again, I apologize for the lengthy details, I'll appreciate your kind advice and suggestions. GBU

I have to be honest and say you have a very long history of rejections and i doubt that if they rejected you visit so many times they would approve child birth. Also note that the lie on the US application will follow you for a very long time except you are lucky and the VO misses this. My advise is to apply with Hubby since this is your first child after a long time of trying. I don\t think you want to the option of Hubby not being part of the birth process.

I recommend that you apply together for visit and if they reject you, apply to Canada again for birth together. If they reject you try Chile/Brazil since it looks like its the health care and passport you are really after. Otherwise my sister since God has buttered your bread with this baby if visas dont work out please look for a good hospital in Nigeria to have your baby- its not the end of the world. Please don't stress yourself or have blood pressure o. Enjoy you pregnancy.

Or if you have a room in Dallas or Wylie area I’d be happy to pay a fee to rent for 2 months. Thanks.
P.s i can’t find anything on Airbnb for my dates.

I didn't ask for any discount, and I paid the amount as stated on the contract.

However, a friend who used same hospital requested for itemised bill which shows discount, and we were not aware of this at all.

23 weeks isnt too late, you can book appointment, while you take 1 to 3 wks to read , get hospitals correspondence.and prep for visa interview
Texas and Illinois have pocket friendly prices

First Congratulation on your BFP in your TTC journey.
Do you still have a copy of your DS 160 form as filled by the agent?
The issue of having 2 children might not be the only thing the agent filled wrongly for you.
You need to really figure out how to convince the VO if you have more
All the same, fill your form by yourself this time, be as truthful and transparent this time then try again.

Thanks alot @chibertha, I don't have a copy of the DS160 form, he only gave me a possible Q&A paper and that was where I saw the 2 children thing, I really do hope that's the only issue as I remember he took details of parents and other information from me. I'm very greatful for your kind advice.

Thanks for your contribution @OmoBendel24. I didn't see the DS160 form he filled for me. There's absolutely no reason for me to hide any information, this happened over 10years ago and for over 6years I never bothered myself about US visa and for me to come here with these concerns now, its because I believe I can make a headway and would be undoing myself if I deliberately withold useful information. However, if you're telling me outrightly that DS160 form never had a section for applicant's kids, then that's my mistake I just assumed that he had filled it in the form that's why he included it in the Q&A he gave me.

Please, if I've been able to clear your doubts about my sincerity, I'll appreciate your further contribution and advice. Thanks and GBU

But you filled a form in 2012, and 2013 too ma.

Well, what you intend doing now is much more secondary to the root cause of the previous refusals. A recap of your interview transcripts from both the successful and unsuccessful interviews will help here methinks, especially if you can still remember the last questions asked both of you in those times you were refused.

I'm to a large extent of the view that most previous B1/B2 visa holders (compared to those that never held a US visa) that get refused ought normally leave the presence of the VO having an idea of what went wrong, it disturbs me when you come blank per why you think you were refused, it invariably puts me in a position of being careful with such individuals. YOU SHOULD HAVE AN IDEA OF WHAT WENT WRONG, kindly pen it here. Let's start from there. It would be unfair of you to leave us guessing what may have gone wrong and likely solutions without proper leads from you. Thanks

So I went for my 221G interview today... .

Brief history : I got my 1st Visa in 2014 and I declared it was for birthing during the interview, I gave birth In 2015 and renewed my visa via dropbox in 2016. I had my 2nd baby in 2017 and also went on vacation in 2018.

Fast forward to Dec 2018, we applied for dropbox but we got the letter to schedule a follow up appointment in Jan after 5weeks. .. We got Feb 27th for the interview date. So many people were at the embassy for 221G interview.

Got to our turn
Me and DH: good morning
VO: how many kids did you have in the US?
Me: 2
VO: can I see your payment receipt
Me: hands over the well arranged receipts per birth itemised bill from both hosp and doctor (I used Maryland for both delivery, same hosp and doctor and paid about 11k dollars per birth)
VO: what are you going to do in the US?
Me: vacation
VO: how long?
Me: 3 weeks
VO: where are you going to and do you have someone there?
Me: Maryland and yes, my uncle
VO: wat do you do
Me and DH: blah blah blah
VO starts to detach pur old passports from the bundle and I knew at that point that she was going to give us.
VO hands over the white paper and told us to pick up our passports in 3days.

Am so relieved and happy .

What I heard from other people's interview is that itemised bill is a must have and they frown at huge discount. Heard a VO telling a pregnant lady that the discount she got for her previous birth was too much and she denied her.
Another man was denied cos he didn't come with his wife's itemised bill instead he came with a letter saying she's not owing.
I also noticed the VO was checking something on the wall in her cubicle : as if they have price list of how much hospital bills shld be per state.
I wish other people going for interview good luck oh
Hi Sis,
Compliments of the season. Can you pls help with the hospital, you used in Maryland and the contact of the Doctor or website of the hospital to ladale4life@yahoo.com. Thanks in anticipation.

Oh baby! You won this round cheesy
Bluefin:

No there was no medicaid to bail them out and they did not migrate the way migration is now. BUT they had solid education and jobs that gave them solid health insurance which they did not have to pay so much out of pocket for. Not everyone moves to America privilèged like they were and i always acknowledge that. They worked for the United Nations which is why they are global citizens. If America was founded with the aggression, rudeness and selfishness of people like you,
- You would not have been given a chance to migrate
- The so called medicare, medicaid and health care bills would not exist.
-America would not be what it is today as it was built on the hard work and resilience of many immigrants

The fact that someone needs public assistance now does not mean they would not better themselves, have solid jobs and become good tax payers contributing to the society in the near future.

You need to take a back seat and mind how you address people on the forum or else maybe you would be alone on this forum.

America was built by white Europeans, not you.

Please, has anybody been successfully approved, who was refused earlier for discount, after paying part of the discount. I will appreciate a timely feedback. Happy new year and good luck all.

White Europeans build wealth and comfort any place they settle down.
