Closing Prices:
ACCESS- N11.20 ...20k above its previous 52-weeks high.
UBA- N8.45 ...5k above the last 52-weeks high.
FBNH- N7 ...N2 below its last 52-weeks high.

Technically, all 3 coys are playing out a similar trend of higher lows with a push for higher highs !!
Perhaps it's time to tap into the last coy(FBNH)
...the probability that u can gain that N2 margin from it is near 1.

Elsewhere, it'll be wise to keep a close eye on AIICO !!
...that 'dude' has be making above average vol with signs of a trend reversal in the last 3 trading days.

For those still seeking for where to invest; there is still more than enough room for reward(feasible ROI) in CAVERTON, FCMB, FIDELITY, ETI, GTB, ZENITH, UACN, WAPCO and TRANSCORP.
...including the 3(ACCESS, UBA and FBNH) highlighted above !!

NOTE: Following ur instinct should still take higher precedence ahead of this post. Due diligence still applies.

It is well.

...they still have enough room for returns.

Elsewhere, FBNH, ACCESS and UBA doing some folks proud !!

A word they say...

NOTE: NOT to be infered as a recommendation.

Again folks should NOTE the post above.
...those coys are still presenting u with an opportunity before they move.
Upswing might be pacy then.

UACN is currently recovering from it 10yr low.

Since their major problem (UPDC losses) has been identified that brought about the UNBUNDLING EXERCISE.

Re: Nigerian Stock Exchange Market Pick Alerts by onegentleguy: 1:26pm On Jan 08, 2020
On the contrary, its a plus for investors(shareholders) as less staff strength means less cost line(admin expense etc) which would translate to higher earnings/profit margins from higher savings.
Though the impact in profit margin(NPM) from it may be minimal in the short term, given that the bank followed up the mass sack with an increased salary pay accross the core of its staff strength.
However, in the mid to long to long term, this move will surely bring about a visible positive impact on the banks income line as explained above.
...so the move is actually a plus/positive for investors.

Now let's look in on what could've been the motive or drive behind it:

1st off, before u blame the bank, blame the system !!
The mass lay off(sack) and disproportionate recruitment accross board from several companies/firms is not just a 'UBA thing'. ...it's the result of the structural difficiencies in the system !! ...it's the result of a weak economy brought about by long standing policy flip-ups and indecisions on the part of our leaders.
I have always said that there's a strong disconnect between the fiscal and real side of the economy.
So companies struggle for growth. ...and look to harness every means to achieve it.
The banks aren't left out. The reason why Nigerian banks do less of core banking business(more investment driven) is because of the harsh terrain. The usually weak macro end of the economy means that they are less inclined to core banking drive and more inclined to seek(and tap) opportunities of arbitrage gains.

Secondly, the push for technological drive with banking(e-banking etc) means that a far less workforce can be implored to achieve more, hence the need to downsize and save cost.

Thirdly, UBA is a quoted company. ...and what that means is that the management of the bank will always have to seek what's in the best interest of its DEPOSITORS and INVESTORS(stakeholders), well before its staffs/workforce ...unfortunately, this is the sad truth.

While I sincerely sympathize with those who could have been negatively affected by the said sack, I'll also like to think that the bank may have decided on this move given the 3 points highlighted above.

The lesson: Just like the best time to prepare for the next examination is the moment u rounded off on the last one, the BEST time to prepare for the next job(or better still, lay a proper ground foundation for the future) is the moment u got that job.
...put differently; a wise person sees their job, not just as a job, but as a seed to plant in on their future and see through it to germinate !!

Nigeria is a difficult terrain. ...it's not easy to be a Nigerian !!

This article I wrote in the past might be of help to those who might be seeking for answers that are related to these worries.

U are absolutely correct about the positive from the recent staff downsizing by UBA.
Just yesterday, I wrote the post above to someone who felt that the impact from the move will be bad for shareholders.
...UBA, like ACCESS has in recent times been making the right moves to grow their income line !!
That said, ACCESS is still ahead of it in our pecking order.

It is well.
