The brilliant class of 1930's children has come to a close!
Some of his works I shall never forget:
The Bottled Leopard
Toads for Supper
Sunset at dawn
Expo '77

I was particularly intrigued with The Bottled Leopard about the light it shed on reincarnation.
He never had to confirm if ever it was real or not leaving the reader to find out for himself. A style that has never been replicated in contemporary literature. Rest in Peace Chukwuemeka Ike.

Even if you do not have an heir to the throne, your name shall never be lost because in the annals of African Literature, your name will be writ large.

I fear for the future generations with regards to African and Nigerian literature...

I pray many follow in the fine steps of Adichie.

It's a lie. If he had married from his village he won't be looking for his offspring before he died.
Is there a statistics for this?
What's the probability?
This case is an outlier.
What if the child had died at birth?

The problem is from the prof who's got just a child...

Na today them start inter tribal marriage?

That's really sad! With the way things have turned out, will it not be wise to choose a king from another family... the boy must have been brainwashed by the mum's family and may not be interested or rooted in the culture of the father land. If only the son was alive, by now he would have married again and forgotten the Benin woman.....

How is he right?... Look people find love in a lot of places, what if I can't find love in my village or tribe, I shouldn't shouldn't shouldn't marry?... Let us pray to marry the right person

I think many people didn't note that Professor Ike married a Yoruba lady and only death has separated them.

They were a couple I admired.

That's so true!
It's the father that taught him inter- tribal marriage, and the king did not even think of marrying another woman since his wife only bore one child for him.

Oh RIP our literature hero. A man who blessed my generation with some great literature books. Bottled leopard comes to mind that book was full of great humour by the author.
Rest on sir....i think his works are underrated or maybe his generation of authors were just above in the realm of literature.

take it from me.if the grandson is truly thier grandson ,he will trace his root back home as long as he is alive.

if the late guy is a prof and a king and coulod not get his grandaon back for 10years.no one should bother again.

friends when you marry a wife, now make it clear to her and her family in writing that she comes to ur house with no kids and when she is leaving she leaves with no kids and always prepare for whan the spouse will walk away.and please they do have the right to take a walk.

#FACT!!

Inter-tribal and interracial marriages come with too many bagages that many humans cannot handle at the long run.

Single ladies and guys reading, avoid yourself all these marital troubles, reduce the risk of marital failure and misdemeanor, marry from your tribe, if possible from your community or closest community that share similar culture, tradition, values and of course religious belief with you.

Stop trying to invent love or rediscover what has been discovered, marry from your tribe and religion and save yourself a lot of stress angry

Prof thought he is too learned and have overcome tribe, belief, etc...and he went about marrying anyhow and also allowed his son to marry anyhow, now look at where it landed him and his entire family angry angry

Don't be more western than the West.....use your brains, being educated, exposed and rich does not exempt you from the laws of tradition and humanity.
