Did your cousin friend attach his/her passport or PR information in anyway while doing the affidavit?

I truly don’t know but I’m sure a means of ID must have been provided.

Are diplomats now allowed to access birth tourism??
Oluwatise2016:

I believe that someone here once mentioned that RHA is not hospital but head of a network so I assumed I would be sharing information already existing. No my cousin did not attach anything to my application but maybe he provided that when they went to the authority to get the letter.

Also I saw that everyone was posting that they have attach their proof of payment and hospital letter and since I had not heard back from embassy I was not in the position to share anything since I myself was waiting. I only got my passport request on December 2.

I am sorry but I don’t think it is a good idea to share his contact. And I 100 percent know that even if people want to pay for this service he will not be interested. He’s a surgeon and he’s very busy. I can tell the name of the hospital I’m using and maybe if you guys contact them they will direct you accordingly.

Also who am I even to say that I got the visa because of the letter? These embassies place UN in high regard and I honestly would have been surprised if I was denied since I could have even gone with my diplomatic passport that I attached to the application anyway.

Also note that I have colleague friend who applied in November and got passport request this week without being asked for RHA letter. And she wrote the exact same letter of explanation as myself.

You are allowed access to birth tourism if you are not on official assignment in the country at the time of the birth.Which is why I applied with my passport as a visitor.

But I know people who when they applied for their baby’s passport nobody asked them about being a diplomat or not.

That’s risky. I have read of someone who managed to get a passport for their child born on a diplomatic passport many years ago. Somehow someway after the child was a full grown adult, the citizenship and passport was rescinded because according to the authorities, the child wasn’t entitled to the passport in the first place as his parents were on a diplomatic passport in the country when he was born. I think I read it here on NL too.

Dear,
This does not apply in my case as I traveled as a tourist and not on official assignment. If you are on official assignment you would be residing in the country in question. Also the case you are speaking about is a Canadian case we do training on every year. The boys family was on an official assignment at the time when he was born.

He never applied for a passport because he lived there. When he was already 18, he applied for a passport his father had become a high ranking official and was now in another country which is how they recognized the name and probed to ask more questions. Not that his citizenship was revoked, he never had it in the first place.

The funny thing is they will always get visas because their country is not considered high risk in terms of illegal immigration. Also a lot of them have solid jobs and lots of money and Chinese people are just so many that it’s hard to lump all of them in one category and reject them.

Actually, because of this I will share the name of the network and not the hospital. You all should fish for a doc and hospital within this network to work with them figure out how to get the RHA to provide you with a letter. You can also do same for other provinces and don’t have to use the same province since you already know the process. Please note that I’m not saying that this is the solution to getting the visa.

Anyone that needs this can PM me.

Thanks

Clearly, reading comprehension is an issue for you. The 2016 CBC article you quoted says:

"Sometimes when hospital beds are full, local mothers are diverted to other hospitals" The same article says a new mom was driven 30km away because the closest hospital was full.

Here's another article from 8 days ago: https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.cbc.ca/amp/1.5413296

"There are times when ... the people living here don't get the service that they need," one nurse said.

When the unit was very busy, one nurse said services like prenatal tests to check the baby's health, labour inductions and other tests to check fetal and maternal risk factors would be delayed or cancelled."

Do you understand how far 30km is to get to a hospital? Esp when you're in labour and live in a developed country like Canada? This is not the norm here, and this is a reduction in quality of care. Obviously it's mostly Chinese tourists, however the government or average Canadian doesn't care what nationalities are responsible.

Re: health authorities, wikipedia says "Most health regions or health authorities are organized along geographic boundaries, however, some are organized along operational lines."

Every hospital in Canada falls under a health authority, because health authorities are essentially a grouping or network of medical care providers. I WOULD KNOW since I'm a Canadian citizen who works in health in a management capacity, and see letters from health authorities and doctors sent out all the time. Clearly this is the case as someone a few pages ago said they obtained one. The fact that it's harder for non-residents to get this letter doesn't mean it's impossible.

Learn to read. Then argue with yourself.

Bluefin:

You cannot entirely or outrightly say something is false except you have documentary evidence to back up your claim.
International patients DO NOT displace locals in hospitals but DO reduce quality of care for local patients due to increased demand.

Regional Health Authority:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Health_regions_of_Canada

Notice Alberta has only one- Ontario has 14. Go on each regional health authority's website and note how many hospitals are listed in the network. The embassy is asking for the regional health authority itself not the hospital to give you a letter.

Sorry i dont mean to come in the middle of this argument but i think that bluefin is correct in her analysis as my cousin who is a doctor and facilitated me getting my letter explained to me that the regional health authority is the umbrella under which all the hospitals are formed. I think that is what she means when she says leader. If you have a solution please share since you are working for health authority.

Hi please i have too many requests and my hands are full at the moment.

This is the information most people are asking for:
Nova Scotia Health Authority is the regional authority that issued the letter. The letter clearly states that they are the network leader and managing 10 facilities. I will not share my specific hospital but please feel free to research hospitals that are in this network and contact them. You will first need to get hospital confirmation, acceptance and billing information( You will sign the financial liability form) before reaching out to the Health Authority.

The portion of health authority please you guys should try to find someone in the province to help you go there. I am sorry i will not be sharing any personal contacts. None of the people that assisted me are agents or interested in becoming one since there is a lot of scrutiny surrounding birth tourism. Any questions you have please ask me here.

bluefin please since you are on ground in Canada can i pm you so we can share contact details and discuss immigration and paper related items?

Thanks.

I live in BC and can speak to that experience, since we have a very high number of Chinese birth tourists. Health authorities are a network of medical service providers. They are not an actual service provider. Every nurse, doctor, hospital etc is part of a health authority. This is usually grouped geographically. Example: https://www.islandhealth.ca/about-us

As such, when a person is asked to get a letter from a health authority for birth visa purposes, you can get a letter from a hospital in said health authority you hope to give birth in OR any medical service provider ie obgyn in the health authority you plan to give birth in. Both are part of said health authority, and it will literally state that on the letterhead what health authority the dr or hospital is part of.

Also note that I have never heard of this letter being a requirement for Chinese birth tourists. If you have other questions, pls PM me.

Just based on the bolded above, it looks like you have no idea what we are talking about. This letter has become a requirement during the visa applications for birth. How would you know that a Chinese tourist was not asked for this letter? Please let’s just focus on these issues. Since it does not appear that you have been following the conversations happening here.

Also note that you are missing a key word. The embassy specifically states regional health authority. Many people here even stayed they attached letter from hospital the only person that attached from a regional health authority which is myself got the visa so far.(although I am not sure that this is the reason)

This is correct from my own understanding too. Health authority is not just about making pay ment to doctor. Some health authorities collect payment and management for hospitals. In that case, you can't even go through to the hospital direct to make payment excerpt through the health authority governing them.

All health authorities in Canada are regional because health care in Canada is provincial ie regional, so that goes without saying in this thread.

I know the visa requirements for Chinese health tourists because they are a large percentage of the clients I work with because I live in BC where some cities have a population that is close to 50% Chinese . If you think the visa requirements for Nigerians to Canada is the same as all other nationalities, or that visa officers treat everyone/case the same, you're completely mistaken.

I have told ppl how they can interpret this rule and get this letter ie from a doctor, clinic or hospital. The fact that you got the letter
in a certain manner doesnt mean more options arent available.

Hello, Thank you for this update.

1. I read in your response not in this though that you were advised against a particular health authority, can you advice on which? Also, please can you help ask the person if Alberta is a good option as they have only one health authority.

Secondly you mentioned the person applying having to swear to an affidavit. Please can you help with information of how the person applying should go about it where we have someone that can help us apply?

3. You said a collegue applies with same explanation but did not attach a letter from a RHA and was given a visa, please can you explain what the -same explanation- is? I intend to apply and i am seeking clarity please.

4.Who signs the financial liability for, me or the person helping and where i'e who does one sign with.

5. Does one need any document for hospital acceptance

We understand your schedule may be very busy pls help with answers to the above while we also do our bit of research.

Thank You.
