He wants to secure a premier league move as an English player. Guarantees more money/benefits.

And staying as an English player won't give him more money and benefits?

That's the point, what's the need of change of allegiance if he can earn more as an English player

Its basically easier to change allegiance as an unknown than as an established premier league player

do you know when eze was invited to the english u20 side he turned it down and made it known to the english fa and his team qpr that he wants to play for nigeria which appeared on qpr's official site but was taken our few minutes after surfacing on net? few hours later he accepted the call up and turned out for the team for the first time in an unofficial game

if you had any notice of that have you ever wondered why the news was taken off from the net after few minutes of posting it and his sudden u-turn to feature for the english u20 side then? all these were happening when news were emanating from the English media that he is closely monitored by spurs and few epl teams. alot is happening behind the scene bro!

because he might have secured the move and the next move and ambition is making a name for himself in international football which seems more feasible with nigeria than the current english team that already boast of talents such as alli, maddison, mount, barkley, chamberline, rice, henderson and yet to be capped jack grealish.

even in the current english u21 side the likes of willock, foden and and 2 other young english midfielders that i can't remember their names now are all ahead of him in the pecking order

Your arguments does not follow the rules of logic

Eze's best chance and easiest route of changing allegiance is now and you are telling me that when he reaches the premier league and starts performing that's when he will change allegiance

Forget your Mount, Alli argument every footballer backs himself, we said the same about Tomori and he didnt hesitate to declare for England

If Eze starts performing in the premier league and gets the attention of the English FA forget it

NFF Begins Moves to Secure Ovie, Dessers Nigeria Allegiance Switch

January 15, 2020

7:29 am

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has begun moves to ensure that the pair of Heracles Almelo forward, Cyriel Dessers and Reading midfielder, Ovie Ejaria get to play for the Super Eagles, Completesports.com reports.

There are valid reports the NFF is trying to convince both Ejaria and Dessers to switch international allegiance to Nigeria and have filed their applications to the Federation of International Football Associations (FIFA).

One of Reading’s standout performers this term has been 22-year-old Ejaria, with the Liverpool loanee having lit up the Championship for much of the season so far since arriving at the Madejski Stadium last summer.

With three goals and three assists in 22 Championship outings, Ejaria has really thrived under the stewardship of Mark Bowen with the Welshman having deployed the youngster largely in a central midfield role that has given him licence to roam.

Ejaria will no doubt prove to be a key cog in any real push for the play-offs that Reading manage to pull off between now and the end of the season with the youngster offering both goals and creativity that will prove vital.

This is what the NFF has seen and are already working on for the player to switch international allegiance to Nigeria, same as Dessers who has had a blistering campaign with Heracles in the Dutch Eredivisie.

Meanwhile, Belgian-born Dessers who is the current leading scorer in the Eredivisie with 12 goals in 18 games for Heracles has expressed his desire to represent Nigeria ahead of Belgium, having attracted interest from both nations.

He said: “After series of discussion with the NFF President, Amaju Pinnick, I have decided to fully commit myself to Nigeria and the Super Eagles and I am going to work to be part of the team and fight for more successs for the country.”

We are the unofficial #1 in Africa. Wetin even dey African football to conquer? Guys think big for once. Abi Ikpeba no win AFCON with Naija?

charlesemeka85:
Super Eagles can be the No 1 team in Africa under Gernot Rohr if the coach is offered a new long-term contract, according to former Nigeria star Victor Ikpeba.

Rohr’s contract with the Eagles runs out in June and from this month he is free to discus with other teams.

However, Ikpeba said the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) will do well to give the Franco-German coach a new deal based on what he has so far achieved with the team.

“We’re still not the best team in Africa, but we have made some progress under Rohr, who has pushed his youthful team to play at the World Cup and finish third at the AFCON,” he argued.

“We now need to give him a long-term deal so that he can continue the good work he has started.”

Rohr first took charge of Nigeria in 2016, before the contract was extended till 2020.

This year, Nigeria will continue the quest to qualify for the 2021 AFCON in Cameroon as well as kick-start their campaign for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.

Didn't Keshi and Siasia achieve success with the national team when they were in charge?

I said it before that CAF would regret moving the AFCON to June to satisfy the demand of those European teams...

The climate around June is simply not favourable for the AFCON in most part of Africa... If FIFA can move the world cup to November because of the weather issue in Qatar, then why should CAF allow themselves to be used by those European teams? Even the Asia cup is held in January..

Any African player that doesn't want to participate in the AFCON in January due to club commitment go and retire...

That is not why they moved it back. Weather is the least of their concern.

They moved it back because there will be FIFA confederation cup in June 2021 and the AFCON winner will have to participate. So it was either Africa forfeited it or they moved AFCON away from that window.

AFCON 2023 will most likely be moved back to June.

I thought they have scrapped the confederation cup and replace it with an expanded club world cup?

Yes they have. Qatar was meant to host the 11th FIFA Confederations Cup but it was cancelled to accommodate the expanded FIFA Club WC that will hold from 17 June to 4 July.

They didnt move it because of the FIFA Confed Cup. That one for 2021 is already cancelled.

They moved it because of the expanded FIFA Club World Cup (17 June - 4 July)

You are right to say Weather is not the major reason but it's not the Confed Cup either.

I say it again and with simple finality. Rohr will not lead 3-0 with that Barca side and bottle it in the second leg. It just wont happen. Period.

The analogy you make doesnt correlate at all. And I didn't say he is a master at protecting leads... I say he is no bottler and won't lose a 3-0 lead. The way he can set up his team defensively shows he will not lose a 3-0 first leg lead just like that. Defensively, Valverde is poor tactically but Rohr is far better in that aspect. Simple.

Danielnino00:

I don't see much difference there....We had that game against Argentina in control..He just needed to make some changes to replace the tired legs in the team and we could have nicked a draw... Against Ukraine,it was the same thing.. at the AFCON against Cameroon,it almost happened...
I don't deny that Rohr is good defensively, but saying that he is a master at protecting leads is a bit overstretching things .. .

And I say again if he was in charge of that Barca team, there is a very good chance that he would have lost too..
Didn't PSG blow away a 4-0 lead to Barca in the UCL sometimes ago ?

I don't mind the long wait for Ejaria... At least we know he is already ours and headed our way. Always known the lad will come up this GWG way. grin

Dessers is also a sealed deal. So game on.

For Ebere Eze.... The Odyssey continues. Hopes it ends in him playing for us eventually.
