Manchester City have snapped up Nigerian defender Camron Gbadebo from Premier League rivals Leicester City following a successful trial, according to various reports in the English press including Foxes Hub.

The 17-year-old is bidding farewell to the Foxes after nine appearances for their U18 team in the U18 Premier League.

Gbadebo previously turned out for the youth teams of Watford and Crystal Palace before he was acquired by Leicester City in 2018.

Writing on Instagram, Gbadebo said : "I'm so happy to announce that I’ve signed for @mancity.

"Thank you to every one that has supported me on my journey so far. This is only just the beginning!"

Gbadebo joins Flying Eagles invitee Fisayo Dele-Bashiru, Felix Nmecha, Nathanael Ogbeta, Gavin Bazunu, Samuel Edozie and Timi Sobowale at the Manchester City Academy.

He is a product of the Kinetic Foundation Academy in South London that produced Nigeria internationals Joe Aribo and Josh Maja.

Other top Nigerians on the move

Eunisell Boot winner Mfon Udoh joins USA club

Eunisell Boot 2019 joint-winner, Mfon Udoh, has joined United States of America second-tier outfit, FC Tulsa, from Nigeria Professional Football League side, Akwa United.

Since the elaborate coronation of Udoh at the last Eunisell Boot award, the Nigerian International, has been linked to several sides abroad.

Udoh is the first player to be twice crowned goal-king and holds the Nigerian record of the highest number of goals scored in a season, when he scored 23 goals in 2014.

Last term, Udoh scored 10 goals to emerge joint-top scorer with Sunusi Ibrahim.

Tulsa celebrated the arrival of the Eunisell Boot winner and head coach, Michael Nsien told club website, www.fctulsa.com that: “Mfon has a scoring ability unlike anyone in our league. Mfon has been on clubs’ radars all over the world and its credit to FC Tulsa that we were able to secure his signature.”

Last year, he was in the Nigerian squad that played at the WAFU Cup and qualifiers for the Championship of African Nations.

Since inception in 2018, Eunisell, sponsor of the Eunisell Boot has showcased winners to attract attention of foreign clubs.

Junior Lokosa, inaugural winner of the award headed for African and Tunisian heavyweights Esperance Sportive after his coronation.

Nigerian-born striker confirms transfer to Chelsea

Tromso have confirmed they have reached an agreement with Chelsea, for the transfer of Bryan Fiabema.

The striker, who is eligible to represent both Nigeria and Norway, makes the move following a successful trial with the Blues in December.

Fiabema has revealed that he is looking forward to linking up with his new teammates, as he begins life at the Chelsea Academy.

“First and foremost I will play for the Chelsea U18 team. In addition, I will train a lot with the U23 team.

“I will, however, bring my experiences from TIL through having good routines in everyday life and exercising well. Should focus on what I can do about it and then I think I can do most things,” Fiabema told Tromso’s official website, hopefully we will see more on Netbet.

He signed a three-and-a-half-year contract on Friday morning at Chelsea’s Cobham training ground.

Fiabsema was in the stands, as Frank Lampard’s men thrashed Burnley 3-0 on Saturday, before being invited down to the dressing room to meet the squad.

Leganes, Montpellier join race for Awoniyi

La Liga club CD Leganes and Ligue 1 side Montpellier are among the clubs in the race to sign Taiwo Awoniyi on loan from Liverpool.

Other clubs reportedly interested in the striker are French club Brest, Spanish side Real Mallorca and Besiktas in Turkey.

This season, Awoniyi has struggled for game time on a season-long loan deal at German Bundesliga club Mainz 05.

Awoniyi, 22, has made six Bundesliga appearances thus far.

Liverpool have an option to cut short the striker’s loan deal in Germany, just as they did last season when the same player left KAA Gent mid-season for another Belgian club Mouscron.

If he wants to play international football...he would have a better chance playing for Nigeria than he would for England.

Past experience.

Agbonlahor, Fashanu, Salako, and one Armstrong refused to play for Nigeria in times past, and got a few caps out of it.

William Troost Ekong (U17 Holland, U21 Holland) and Victor Moses (U21 England) played for Nigeria. Vic Moses has even been to two world cups, Ekong to one. Now if they sat down and waited for callups from Holland and England...dem go wait tire.
