When the community refused to stop their sons from killing military men they should be prepared to face the attendant consequence without pity . The solders are still coming back until they get the criminals ..Welcome to operation crocodile 2 |

Kylekent59: It is Global Orientation Bro. Typical example: Iran Vs US. You don't kill a Soldier and not get the repercursion unquantifiable. I am not in support of that dastardly act, but that is what you get in such instance. |

Soldiers are dying every day in the hands of Boko Haram, but this action has not been extended to the North. But come ooh, is it because it is the South? Anyway, not in support of the killings, but it should have been investigated instead of this reprisals by the military against unarmed community |

Abfinest007: Albeit two wrong don't make a right, you will see sense if your kinsman was among the soldiers killed in cold blood. The communities most times protect these guys perpetrating those evils. So to say they are partakers of the said evil too. |

Most of you saying the Soldiers shouldn't have retaliated in the way they did... y'all fuuus.. big fuu. Incase you dunno, this sort of thing happened in 2001, 19 soldiers were murdered, butchered..by civilians, their weapons were seized because the officer in charge ordered them not to open fire on the so-called civilians. That's how my Dad died there. That's during the TIV/JUKUN crisis. I'm sure we all know what Obasanjo did to those people.. he wasted them.. that's how it's supposed to be. The murderers haven't seen anything yet. Crap. |

Kuginzi: Has d meaning of d word "hypocrisy" changed or are u using a different dictionary than d rest of d world? U have already said that d guys who brought harm to d soldiers are "killers/hoodlums". So we have passed that stage of d discussion. What we are discussing is d response of d soldiers to d harm done their colleagues by these "killers/hoodlums". Hence this question which u don't seem to have d intellect to answer: "In d course of destroying d villages, were d "killers/hoodlums" also destroyed, apprehended or arrested?" Also, u have accused d "killers/hoodlums" of lacking home training. In response to that I asked u this: "So are u now saying that d soldiers received home training that requires them to burn down villages?" U have also said that d villages and villagers deserve what they got from d soldiers, but once again u have been unable to answer simple questions: "Is it d responsibility of soldiers to punish d families of kidnappers, robbers, cultists and militants? Is d punishment for Kidnapping, Robbery, Killing, Militancy, Rituals, Cultism burning of villages?" In addition, u have displayed more hypocrisy than I have because u have avoided answering this question: "How many villages have d military burnt in d North East as a result of d killing of soldiers by BH?" |

GeoAfrikana: Oga, we know these things, even the op exaggerated the military response. From the picture it seems just s few houses were burnt. And that is I stated it would be preferable for our security to get to a stage where people willingly volunteer information. Cause if someone in the community just pointed out those responsible there will be no need for such actions. |

Stalwert: How is it their responsibility? How on earth can burning people's homes be justified? I forgot, Ijaw people, due to colonialism are forced to share a country with some of the most primitive beings in human history. Even most pre medieval people won't act this way. It is the police duty to investigate, nobody owes the Nigerian police, army, navy or any other institution information. Nobody in his or her right senses will divulge information to Nigeria's security agencies because they act like an occupying force. |

Adesolomon2014: So how does the government solve the problem of brigandage in that region, certainly not like this. Because those who have lost all are more unlikely to see government as anything but the enemy. The government is simply feeding into a viscious cycle of mistrust and violence. That is the reason why investigations are conducted in civilised societies to get to the root of the matter and bring individuals to justice. What is the DIA for, the SSS, the police and all the invesstigative agencies that we spend billions on. We are only stewing in our ignorance and needlessly paying gravely for it with blood and treasure. Tomorrow you hear retaliation and increased militancy. Government should in normal circumstances be above the citizens it superintends over in all aspects of the law, morality and reasoning not acting with equal impudence. |

If folks realise just how much insecurity costs this country, how insecurity has battered our national purse, dumped us down into debt and killed off investment both foreign and local..... if they knew how insecurity is making the average citizen poorer by the day they will demand a different approach, a new strategy from their government, one that is more cerebral, definitive and goal oriented. I keep on saying this. The proximity of soldiers to civilians is nothing but a tinderbox anywhere in the world. We should be about handing conflicts and finding solutions as quickly as possible. Britain saw that in Northern Ireland, Morocco saw that in the Western Sahara and the world can see that in the Middle East. That militancy and milatarised locations invariably know no peace, development because conflicts are bound to happen. When is the government going to find a permanent solution to insecurity in the delta so that soldiers can be brought home and normalcy restored. This is 25 years since Ken Saro Wiwa was hung by government which started this whole problem. Are we saying it is an impossible problem to solve or is it that we just do not have the will or the intellect as a country to do so. For many more lives will be lost needlessly on both side till we do. |

lexy2014:My point is, I'm not disputing the fact that what the soldiers did was wrong and it need to be condemned. But I do not find anyone on Nairaland condemning the youths' illegal action too, taking laws into their hands. Secondly, you can't compare Bokoharam and indigenous youths of a community. Unless u want to term the youth as Bokoharam too. Pls can u tell me the state of origin of Bokoharam? |

labisibrass:No wisdom in what you just typed. What stops them from invading the creeks n combing de whole of their(gunmen) hide-out to kill as many as they can in revenge? They rather preferred burning down houses probably with pregnant women, aged men n women, and children inside, who may not have been able to run for escape during dis nefarious operations......... and u are here applauding them. |

Kuginzi: U ended up not answering any of d questions I asked. U only going round in circles and beating around d bush. It seems u are scared to answer d questions. Here are d questions once again: "So are u now saying that d soldiers received home training that requires them to burn down villages? Is it d responsibility of soldiers to punish d families of kidnappers, robbers, cultists and militants? Is d punishment for Kidnapping, Robbery, Killing, Militancy, Rituals, Cultism burning of villages? How many villages have d military burnt in d North East as a result of d killing of soldiers by BH? U also didn't answer d question I asked: "In d course of destroying d villages, were d "killers/hoodlums" also destroyed, apprehended or arrested?" |
