The hustle is what it is. I only feel for those on HP or rental because to break even is almost not easy but with a positive mind things can most definitely turn around.

@Angryigboman I don't know why you are so bittered? I have seen people in far worse situation than what most of us have found ourselves, yet they manage to squeeze out a smile every single day regardless.

Tojah and mrjaydee are both examples of what this hustle can give to you if you have a positive mindset and approach it with gratefulness.

Several pages back, a guy here narrated how his pal paid his tuition in Italy from this hustle and now he's off to Italy. Need I also mention another colleague in the hustle who has started a farm project...

@AngryIgboMan you always look out for the worst in this business forgetting that it also has its positives. In life we can't always have our cake and eat it but we can always try to come round no matter what the challenge.

@AngryIgboMan I am not going to take the part of those who would say if the hustle no pay you then quit! All I am going to say is approach each day as it comes with a thankful heart...you are what you think.

The other day I was at Ikotun to get something from the market, as I squeezed my way through the crowd, just by the corner of the road, sat a woman, crippled. Main looking at her you could tell she relied on the support of a helper to do the basics. Where she sat if she needed to take a leak she would probably do it on herself. If she needed to move, she did it on her stomach. But as I walked past her something remarkable happened. Even in that mentally and physically painful condition this woman could still manage to smile and laugh. I could only but wonder where the motivation for that joy came from.

I guess that day she taught me something which is:

take each day as it comes and find a way to make yourself happy.

regardless of whatever situation you find yourself there is certainly someone out there that is even worse off

smile and laugh, its free! there is no uber/bolt commission for this

I believe in the power of thoughts. I believe in the abundance of the universe. Uber and bolt may not give you your heart desire but through uber and bolt the universe can use you to write a remarkable story.

So to everyone today: "approach with a positive and a thankful heart".

You really make a point but I think AngryIgboMan been bitter is out of it. He is likely on the road right now for quick money. Many do not understand the guy(smile). He is only putting drivers on their toes and as a reminder (in a funny way)because many a time we get carried away burning the candle at both ends in this hustle. Many of us have abandoned those broken reed uncle and turn our CV and applying for jobs to blank despair just because we build castle in the air around ehailing. We have not even talk or enlighten ourselves on the health implication of driving for a long period of time(I guess AngryIgboMan is compiling the right up). Lol. Happy Birthday in arrears Izzou baba and thanks for the other time. Tojah, thanks for abandoning your boy here...What a funny and enlightening forum grin

My brother the truth of the matter is that a lot of them either didn't save at the high peak period , or save than spend all their money . I can recall people were happy Ocar came and change the game. Some drivers were making 20k naira a day..... This is January period we are in now. Everyone lavish their money celebrating Xmas season going to the village and showing off to the villagers .. People will not get paid to end of January and things will pick up.. This is not a matter of praying or positive thinking or matter of some sort of famine going on like as if the economy of the country is crashing..

Read and comprehend, dru. What I have said has nothing to do with the seasons. I have only spoken on a general term, calling on drivers to stay motivated.

I am sure I didn't write in a language that you can't read in.

Mind you in every line of business you need to stay motivated. And how do you achieve that? It is with a positive mindset.

Your savings can be put in a business and the next minute the entire thing crumbles. Would you say the person didn't save if he starts to complain? You can only ask that person to stay positive which is what I am calling on drivers to do.

My attempt at changing the mindset how some drivers think was @AngyIgboMan who seems to bring out the negatives in this hustle...of cause it can be better!

I am sure your drivers did good during the Xmas period with you encouraging them to save? That female driver of yours, tell us, how's she fairing? With a boss like you who encourages his drivers to save, by now she must have gotten her car by now?

I understand your point very well ... and I agree with you 100%.. I just want to drive home the fact that I cautiously caution a lot of drivers to save during the Xmas season. A lot of them were making money and laughing to the bank. I stated on the forum that ,people should not come and complain when the business is slow o. .... We need to drive home the fact that a lot of people complaining now are likely the ones that didn't save during the peak season....

But this you dropped today, it's like you left your senses before writing it.....and I'm more amused towards the other 15 ediots that liked it. So you actually removed tomorrow's fuel money in today's income, just to drive your point of -3k deficit.

Oga, that's +3k profit. That's 18k a week, 72k a month....abeg how much does the so called white collar job with Bsc degree pay monthly in Nigeria?.

To buttress your point, if salary earners also sit down and estimate how much they spend on transport, feeding and other miscellaneous as uber drivers do, then they know their real net income.

Every job comes with its own challenge.

Please what could be responsible for this?

Dru23 is very exposed and has a mind that quickly adapts to change and the environment he finds himself. People like him never bemoan about misfortune, rather they keep it moving and don't give up.

Dru also has resources, both material and financial resources to keep his business afloat.

Dru is near resources. What this means is, he easily gets original parts, fluids, cheap cars and tools etc direct from the U.S, to run a successful fleet.

He has a different ideology to ehailing business which could be sum in one word "Maintenance".

Now with all these above, when Dru's business keeps flourishing and he intends adding more cars to his fleet, we would FORGET that he has a upper hand because he is fortunate enough to have his hands on the list aforementioned.

What is funny is most successful Nigerians in business NEVER share their business secrets but Dru23 comes on here to drop his success business secrets for free in disguise of MOTIVATIONAL talks and the meme, then I see people lambasting him for whatever reason, Yet, his principles and ideology still works for him.

I have NEVER seen anyone here who took Dru23 advise seriously and came back here to say it didn't work for them. I myself have adopted his idology and as a car owner, things has been smooth for me and my driver.

So Dru isn't only a wise guy to be taken seriously but also a blessing to this forum as well.

AngryIgboMan:
Postive mindset Positive Mindset Positive Mindset

How do you always have a positive mindset about something that is rigged to have you at the loosing end eternally?

I asked 2 questions and nobody answered me.

1) Can any driver show me a savings of 1 million made from ehailing? Emphasis on "Saved" please. I didnt say "Made and Spent". (I can't be too sure though because I can only work with the data I have after interviewing series of drivers physically)

2) Can you build a house in Idimu or Ayobo through ehailing?

Someone will soon come to remind me that civil servants too make money and spend and my answer is still; "What concerns me and a civil servant or any other work for that matter? Are your destinies same?"

If after driving for 2 years consistently and you can't have a solid savings of 1 million... What does that tell you about ehailing? Does it look like something with a future?

By the way, I can't see where I said driving is outrightly bad. I only said to find a way and get out of this thing before it harms you. Especially for those who are already seeing this thing as a life thing. I also emphasised on the fact that the people you are actually working for are Uber/Bolt, Mechanics and Fuel stations.

You know Nigerians have been so battered to the extent that they now compare sufferings. You tell a Nigerian that as a child you suffered so much that you had to trek 15 kilometres to school everyday. He will say bros you no suffer reach me. That he trekked 17 kilometres to school everyday. Technically he may be correct. But theoretically, is suffering something to be proud of and compared? If my poo poo smells better than your poo poo, does it make poo poo palatable and servable as dinner?

As you drive people everyday to hotels like Radisson Blu and Ibis, don't you ever wish that those hotels are yours? As you drive people out of Parkview Ikoyi, VGC, Banana Island, Victoria crest 1 to 4 etc to work, don't you wish you own those estates or at least live in them? Does it sound like something achievable driving with Uber/Bolt?

Please don't be depressed yet. Am still a driver for now like you.

What is My Point then?

If there can be better, why settle for good?
