As per ur last statement, it's not mainly education, it's culture. Culture is highly emotional, just like religion. And emotion ALWAYS rules over logic (education).

Yoruba culture is very strong. Slavery couldn't stop it even after moving them long distances and making them Christians. Also all the returnee slaves and mulatto dt moved back to lagos after the slave trade, with all their English and Portuguese surnames, ended up gettingg swallowed up by the culture.
