Somebody dey vex o.

It's a necessary evil needed to make dollar stronger.
Capital flight is the worst enemy of any administrator.
Presidents can do anything to stop that.
When companies move, people are laid off, it will still affect the economy negatively.

Mtn did that in Nigeria. Govt was warned and see.
When it has plunged Nigeria into abyss, the now know they have to squash the useless tariff.
We may never recover in the next 20yrs.

Exactly. They keep giving them breaks with little to no regulations to make it worthwhile for the average citizens. This should be about us, shouldn’t it?

They should have a job quota that they are required to provide with each million or billion they get. What do they pay their employees to keep them living a decent lifestyle (I’m not talking minimum wage). What are their maternity and paternity leave requirements? Sick leave? Etc
Corporations are requiring their workers to do more and more with less and less even with all the money they are getting from govt. Workers are paying these exorbitant taxes to keep jobs in the country and also breaking their backs to maximize profit for the corporations without adequate staffing to make the job easy on the workers or the incentives that should come from the extra money they are getting in tax breaks.

For example, I work in a hospital. There’s a giant corporation buying up a lot of the hospitals in the country. They are giving this company so much monopoly it sickens me.
I moved from the west coast last year and encountered a different (actually worse grin) system where I am now.

What would you know though, this company has bought its way all the way up from the west coast hospitals in its wake and is now here . They have bought the new hospital that I’m working at. Hello old friend! When one company holds that much power, it’s bound to be abused no questions asked

Effect of capitalism grin
Una be the number one capitalist nation of the world.
Others dey learn work where una dey na.

Monopoly is their watchword.
They swallow everything on their way to the top.

Make parliament change the system.
Almost all countries practice one form of capitalism or the other but US,.oh lala.

We have one among us, dangote .
He don't swallow but destroy.
It's even better he swallows.

That's why I don't take his billions serious

You don’t need all that money, you can still beat the system normally!

Immediately you miss your period, just file fo visitor’s visa if you qualify and nothing is showing on your tummy yet. If you are given the visa, just leave even if you are only a few weeks or days pregnant, at POE they will stamp you in with the usual 6 months visa, at the 4th month of your stay file form I539 to extend your stay for another 6 months.

After you give birth make sure to visit the Whitehouse and take a picture with your baby there as a poke to their collective ignorance.
I-539 extension is no longer as easy as you paint it to be here, things are changing drastically. And the stay period is now based on what you came for, the traditional 6months stamp on B1/B2 is being changed. I have a friend that was just given two weeks to attend a conference and head back to Nigeria. Trump administration is not playing around, they are hell bent on clamping down on both legal and illegal immigration!

But, Canada is in trouble.

No eu country do birth tourism.
US don join.

I think Canada, Brazil, Australia etc.

Since Canada call US their big brother, will they sustain this for a long time?
That I do not know to be honest. Canada can sometimes be too laid back for it's own good. It has to reach an enormous proportion before Canada takes action. Just like the inflow of refugees crossing via Quebec. When the Haitians started crossing, the flow was considered not much and a bit insignificant, but the moment naija joined, that was when the government quickly had a put a stop to it.

The minister for immigration actually visited the Canadian High Commission and the American embassy in Nigeria to have an idea of what was actually going on cheesy. The moment he returned to Canada, there was a rise in US visa rejection to Nigerians. Also those applying for asylum based on gay/genital mut. and Boko Haram started having applications rejected and were told to move to Lagos or Port Harcourt. I feel the Same might just happen for this birth tourism saga. The moment those that intended to travel to the states focus their attention on Canada, the government would quickly pass a legislation to stop the flow.

Although, there have been talks within government circles about Changing the rules that one of the parents have to be a permanent resident for the new born to qualify for a Canadian passport.

I usually do not like the racist Dotard Trump...
BUT THIS RULE IS AN EXCELLENT DEVELOPMENT!

If we do not want our offspring born into this mess, we should work hard to fix it. My parents were born into that same US society that folks are rushing off to in a not so distant past (the 1960s) when black folk were still being lynched and hung in public squares in the South, separate bathrooms, water fountains, hotels, and even schools existed for whites and blacks (with the latter being of vastly inferior standards), and stores and lunch-counters routinely refused to serve black folk. In fact, NIGERIANS HAD VOTED IN ABOUT 3 NATIONAL ELECTIONS BEFORE US BLACKS WERE GUARANTEED THE RIGHT TO VOTE (pursuant to the 1965 Voting Rights Act).

About 20 odd years ago, Rwandans were busy slaughtering other Rwandans in an orgy of genocide. Yet today, less than a full generation later, Rwanda has long ago grown into one of Africa’s (and the Third World’s) leading lights. Nigerians should quit with this interminable Blame Game and Otherisms get on with the business of fixing Nigeria (if not for themselves, for their offspring they claim to care so much about), because ultimately Nigeria’s condition is the culmination of the acts of ALL Nigerians (either by commission or omission), and personally I am glad that the racist Dotard Trump is kicking Nigerians up the “shit-hole” to concentrate our collective minds.[

Perfect. People always brush over the difference between the working, middle and upper-classes in these threads and it makes the whole discussion meaningless.

What exactly are you "staying to develop" when your education, training and general expectation for life as an adult are drastically different from what you are experiencing in reality? Is a teacher or a nurse supposed to be struggling to eat?

So why wont they swarm the airport like locusts Thats what people dont understand. If you want the educated, middle class majority to stay and develop the place, you have to make sure that at the very least, their lives wont be a living hell.

"Work hard kids, study hard...be disciplined...one day you'll be a lawyer....a doctor...and...."

And you wont have running water, constant electricity, decent wages or be able to walk down street without some haggard, disgusting fellow appearing to call himself a "Police officer" (who, by the way, is supposed to be part of that trained middle class) harassing you for N20 and waving his loaded gun.

Does it make sense To anybody...?

Please who do you expect to do that for this educated, middle class?
Who does it for the educated middle class in the US?
Do you if this majority of educated, middle class Nigerians are volunteering time and donating money into the political process to ensure their own space is protected
This sense of entitlement without matching sense of responsibilities will worsen our country and make us perpetual underdogs even when we are in the US.

Different strokes different folks, I have friends that have been extending b1/b2 endlessly some eventually exchange it for f1 visa.....not all USCIS service offices are taking things as drastic as Trump wants.....many even opposes his stands on immigration.

Many of these visa extensions don’t have a fast rule on the books, they are at the discretion of the person adjudicating on your case.

Hundreds of Methodists Seek to Discipline Jeff Sessions Over Family Separations

Hundreds of members of the United Methodist Church have filed claims of child abuse and racism against Attorney General Jeff Sessions under the church’s “Book of Discipline” after he enacted a “zero-tolerance” immigration policy that has led to the separation of thousands of parents and children at the U.S. border.

Some 640 clergy members and laypersons in the church have written an open letter to the leaders of the two congregations where Sessions, a longtime Methodist, attends church. They are calling on church leaders to reach out to Sessions and help him “step back from his harmful actions and work to repair the damage he is currently causing to immigrants, particularly children and families.”

The letter condemns Sessions, alleging he has misused his “tremendous social/political power” in his enforcement of the nation’s laws — especially the recent policy that has led U.S. Border Patrol agents to take more than 2,000 children from parents arrested at the border. The separations are the result of the Trump Administration’s policy of prosecuting everyone who is caught crossing the border illegally. They have caused an uproar, which have been fueled by the release of photos and videos of children in detention.

From responses here, Nigeria's "lower class" are elated by this development and why should they not be? The contract worker in your bank's branch will never get to give birth or sponsor his wife to do same in the US; the dude doing his ND has resigned his fate about such privilege; the lass who struggles to fend for herself never imagine doing same and lots more in Watt Market, Ladipo, Gboko, Offa etc. They are happy with this development because even when the law was there, they never benefitted. So is it now it has been restricted that they would be worried? Ta! The persons who are worried about this are your upper middle class in Lekki, VI, Maitama, Ikoyi, Ikeja GRA, PH GRA etc. who believe their children lose out of a powerful passport which confer on them unfettered access to some of the world's best institutions at affordable rates and ease of entry at different POE stations globally. It is the middle class families who are in Yaba, Surulere, Ibadan, PH etc. who are worried that since they cannot afford $1M for investor's visa or even that of countries in the Caribbean region ($100K+) citizenship by investment, the citizenship by birth can afford their children (not them as parents) same opportunities as those in Lekki and Co.

However, these elites and upper middle class folks are in the minority or are basically infinitesimal in the scheme of things as the vast majority of Nigerians are poor. Those in the lower strata of the society won't feel concerned for the Ikoyi folks because these Maitama individuals didn't and don't feel concerned for the struggles of persons in my first sentence pass through. Which brings to the reality that Nigeria has to be developed and only the upper/middle class individuals can push for such development. But then, these Yaba, Ewet Housing, Ikoyi folks will simply move to Canada, Mexico, Brazil and other countries that offer citizenship by birth. After all, when the UK stopped post school visa, they moved to Germany and currently Canada.

In summary, the vast vast majority of Nigerians will be ecstatic with this news because it doesn't affect them in anyway let alone negatively. Call it schadenfreude, you won't be wrong.

Nicely said in bold.

Lol you are just being shallow! Do you think it's only people from developing countries that travel to the States to give birth? Different people travel for birth tourism to give their kids options not primarily because their home is bad or underdeveloped.

This policy just targets people that need Visas to access the USA for child birth reasons. If the USA were actually so worried about birth tourism they should make it equally hard for everyone or better still scrap citizenship by birth rather than limiting access for persons from developing countries.
