Any one that has been to Enugu will know that banning okada is the fear of going to work late.

Stress getting on bus will injure or make you lost or get your bag tore

Your punctuality will be disgraced.

Those saying yes to the ban, I hope you guys will have to keep quiet now,, say something contradict to what you said earlier and thunder will strike your mouth.

How will those okada guys survive?

Honestly, this policy is actually making me to reconsider Lagos as a permanent home.

This is too harsh, this has rendered many families jobless.

I don't have problem much, as my house is on this island, and my workplace too on the island, but what of those who stay on the mainland, trying to get keke that would take them to their office on the island.

I think the state government needs to return them back until alternative measure is being taken.

They should please consider the family biko, I know the nuisance they constitute on the road, but job is key to leave in Lagos.

Before some people will start telling me I am not a lagosian for defending them.

I am born lagosian, and my family house is on the island, that's what have been saving me, just 30min trek to Victoria island where I work.

Cool to know you trek 30 mins to work. Iyana ipaja to Agege, mile 2 to Coconut is also 30 mins (approx) trek.
We'll survive.

[quote author=oloriooko post=86337167]So so sad to see such sudden change which Sanwo could not say during his campaign days, ironically he got so many votes from these people he sacked without providing immediate solution to mitigate the hardship this policy brought.

One man woke up one mrning n shouted let okada b ban!!! N nobody stood up to ask him oga why

These animals that are in government are so insensitive. They don't plan before they act. They should have tried to put something workable in place before the banning.

Okada is the worst means of transportation ever so should not be an issue if the government place a bound. After all before its era, people have alternatives. All we need is more convenient buses not okada or maruwa

Thanks to God and the government for banning okada and keke.

But this is just the 1st step.

The next step should be to fix all the roads across the state. I mean ALL the roads even to the inner streets.

After that, the next step would be to clean up and sanitize the entire state from all the filth it has accumulated over the last 2 decades.

The final step would be to ensure 100% enforcement of laws against circumventing the above steps..
There would be so much development and sanity in the state therefrom.

In conclusion, what I am saying is this..... Lagos has taken a step in the right direction BUT I have a worry. And my worry is with the state’s pace/ seriousness in following up its actions to justify the step it has taken.

Cos we have known Lagos to be a talkative state where noise is made by the government all the time and nothing is done in reality.

People are stranded on the roads and paying 4X normal transport fares and you are saying this? May you never be in any level of leadership in your life because you are anti-people and plain retardded too

Hmmm....I got to the busstop and called my boss that I wasn't coming in today. This is because our initial agreement was for me to telecommute sometimes anyways. However, I had to walk about 5km to use a particular bank in the hot sun because the transaction had to go today. A journey I used to connect with two maruwas of N50 each! Why? Why would they chose to just make life difficult for people?

It is well.

It's a sad show

The sanwo olu himself has probably never lived in the not so luxury areas, they just wake up, take decisions not minding how it affects other

We are not saying they should not ban them, all we are saying is the government should provide alternative on how to move people around short untrekkable distances and jobs for those that have been rendered jobless by this action

Even people wey get car gan, wld they drive their cars everywhere for even short distance that they cld just use say 50 keke

You are a Lagosian, but you don't seem confident that you are one.
Why are you still reconsidering making Lagos your permanent home at this age?
You were born here and your family house is here ? What again are you planning for?
I'm in same situation as you and I don't think twice. I am a lagosian.

A typical Nigerian mentality. That is why we're where we are today. What stops them from providing alternatives first to alleviate the sufferings before outrightly banning the okadas and Kekes like other saner countries would do.

But no, in Nigeria, a government just wakes up in the morning and enforce laws and then begin to think of alternatives later.

The question is , must everybody live in Lagos? What happened to the rest of the country? What with this idea of everyone moving to one state and making a livelihood there? The country as a whole is overpopulated and nobody seems to want to address this , instead the just keep making babies. The okada ban is a step in the right direction, people should find other places (states) to raise their families, not everyone can afford to live in Lagos

H mmmmm...

The Sanwolu Led Lagos Government should bring out whatever they have to Mitigate this matter . It's gradually becoming a crisis...

Banning okada and keke is not a bad idea, but there should be something workable to take their place..

If nothing is in place, then the okada and keke should be sent back to the roads...

Lagosians should not be put to this! This is Untold Suffering!

Go and put them back there yourself naw ndi ara....

Lagos state governor gave out motorcycles in December, Gokada signed a deal with MC Oluomo’s road transport union, in less than 6 months after, this is what they got.

We keep shouting that we want investors in Nigeria, how will an investor cope with unstable policies?

When virgin Atlantic was tapped to come and invest in Nigeria, they only asked who will pay for damages Incase there’s a bridge of contract... They never got a reply.
It’s such a shame that we treat investors this way

It's unfortunate

But it's breach of contract

I guess you know he meant "breach" nah

Nobody sabi everything, probably he doesn't know or he got carried away

But the truth is businesses in Nigeria are holding on by a string/thread

One man can be elected tomorrow and he destroys a business by just signing some "not so we'll" thought out plans not minding how his decisions affect anybody
