Great. Thanks for carrying us along. I really wish you success in this endeavour.

Pls permit me to ask some questions please.

1. Do you have plans for irrigation ? What source of water do you look to ?

2. How far is the farm from your place of living ? Would you be going to the farm everyday or have workers living in the farm ?

3. How many workers do you plan to have for the 1 acre ?

plan for irrigation yes, bore hole
The farm is close to the house, we will be using bore hole from house to irrigate
We are using Labourers for now remember the acre is for me and my mentor, she has been there for three years now,, three plot each. I will get permanent worker on my next batch because vof expansion.

Hello Adamma91, I would like to know at what price did you get the 1 acre and where is it located?

Good luck on your endeavors.

Thank you Adamma91 for replying. Is this 150,000 or 1.5 million and is it an outright buy or a lease?

we budgeted 800k for the project, though we do some of the works by ourselves so it won't be up to that amount.

be careful how you spend money on a new project like that so it will turn out to be an endless money pit,₦800k is too much for 1 acre of ugu, with half of that amount or less you will get 4000 metres of drip₦200k,clearing,manure,seeds, digging of holes or beds₦150k,sundry expenses and fertilizer ₦50k,ugu is not everyday watering like cucumbers.

Hi Adamma91
I managed an Ugu farm 2018 - 2019 very close to Papalanto and from results obtained, I think your startup cost is too high. Although I don't want to sound like a pessimist, you may not break-even given your high cost of setup. Except you setup drip irrigation system, the overhead cost of irrigating with borehole will be unbearable.
Your projections on paper may look very promising, field realities may make it hard to achieve.

OK. What's the average no of seeds per bucket?
Hope u got the broad leaf variety(lagosians call it calabar)? It commands better price/patronage.
