When Shiek Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum of Dubai said he wanted a change, it wasnt easy, he said it out loud Otoge!! back in the early 90s and his subject hissed and said dubai must remain rural for life and he was crazy, they were ok with their camels and donkeys with few Tokunbo cars telling him what isnt damage doesnt need fixing

Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum went around with his crazy policies that was not similar to conservative islamic veiws and they called him prince of Saytan and unislamic, he went to Egypt Air to lease just 2 plane and started Emirate Airline, he came to Nigeria to meet Obasanjo and begged him to invest Nigerias free money in dubai and make Nigeria a great return on investment, Obasanjo bluntly told him nobody invested in a desert, while Atiku secretly siphoned his money to Dubai to own some of the best malls and towers in dubai

Now Sanwo-Olu is making a crazy move that can cost him a second term, and he wants to turn lagos around calling for private investors to join the BRT scheme and Lagosboat scheme, nobody is taking the offer, if an Atiku or a Dangote comes to Lagos and capitalize on the new oppurtunity bringing in double decker bus, people would wail and scream, while this men smile to the bank

Double decker Coaches and busses start retailing from about 30 million - to 43 million naira, Ferry boats cost similar, many celebs and yahoo boys in Lagos can buy one instead of benz and range rovers or empty mansions and join the BRT fleet managed by Lagos state Government and make money forever

.

Lagos state govt ban of Okada operators, though painful is in order. I support it.
Majority of those operating motocycle transport in Nigeria are illegal aliens from Niger Rep, Mali, Chad etc, smuggled into the country throught Northern Borders. Most of them are terrorist, agents of terrorist and big time criminals. These people are all over the Middle Belt committing all kinds of criminality.
Northern borders is the gate way of islamist terrorist into the country. Even as I write, thousands of illegal aliens are brought into the country by Northern elites for diabolical reasons.
We will never get it right with security of our regions if we're still yorked with the North. They are the culprits importing terrorists into the country.
The earlier our Regions disintergrate from the North and form independent countries free of terrorism, the better for us.
We have nothing in common with Northern Nigeria.
ONE NIGERIA IS DEAD!
do you have prove for this?
do you have a recording of their strange languages?
are you educated?
do you have a brain? or you just swallow any story thrown at you....people keep saying the bikemen are foreigners yet no proof....most nigerians are just daft.....why do i live in the same space with you guyshuh

Are you truly in the USA? If you are how many Okadas and kekes do you find on the roads daily? Where you live, is transport disorganised?

See if No is your answer, of which I know it is NO, then think progressively before you draw your "ungovernable" conclusion. Are you not aware of the menace of Okadas and Kekes in Lagos? If not for carelessness of former military governors like Mobolaji Johnson and Gbolahan Mudashiru, transportation would not have fallen into private hands in this manner. Transportation is largely government driven. Sanwo Olu just requested for private participation in the transport section as a way to make life better.

Hopefully you have never been afflicted by the okada menace and pray you do not encounter it. They should be banned totally. Look at the areas where they are allowed to apply and see how their nuisance behaviour has worsened in the last three days.

Abeg leave that matter bro.
Stop comparing the USA with Lagos... in the USA, the roads are good and big enough to accommodate enough cars. There are traffic in downtowns and populated cities. Also, in the USA, citizens, immigrants and even illegal immigrants can afford to own a car. People who use public transport are not as much as people who own vehicles. In the USA, every building, companies, stores and market places dont job joke with a parking lot.

So concluding that the USA does not have bikes and napep is an insane comparison. I hope you don't take offence with that word. What I mean is that, they have made it a luxury for us to have a good life in Nigeria but its the right of the citizen in the USA.

Traffic not a resultant of more numbers of cars...NO... Traffic because of ongoing construction on major roads and intersection..

e.g... Rehabilitation of Ojota road: backlog of traffic on Ikorodu road, Lagos-Ibadan expressway inward Ojota, 7up axis because of slow navigation into FRSC Ikeja axis....

Reconstruction of Allen roundabout....heavy traffic on Alausa -Ikeja Under bridge, Allen-Opebi and sometimes toA gidingbi.

Summarily, Lagos is a small state ...little obstruction results into massive traffic everywhere

AFTER THE OKADA BAN - PLANS BY LAGOS STATE GOVT.
#COPIED as forwarded...

There are plans by the Lagos State Govt to provide registered Okada Riders with LASRAA and NURTW Identification Card with new mini buses as a way to curb the menace of unemployment.

The mini buses will be given to riders who can prove they can drive and possess valid driver license.

For those interested, visit room 305, block F at the Lagos State Secretariat in Alausa, Ikeja to get a Free Registration Form. When you get there, ask of Mrs. Omobolanle.

If possible, get a letter of introduction from your local govt chairman, local chief or oba or any elected leader or politician.

The registration process closes February 14th 2020.

Kindly note that there are over 10,000 buses to be bought so share this information widely to your family, friends and relations who are affected by the okada ban.

Okada/Keke Ban: Who Else Has Been Experiencing This Strange Thing In Lagos Of Late?

Since the restriction on the operations of commercial motorcycles and tricycles on the 1st of February, 2020 as promulgated by Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, Lagosians of different economic and social classes have been feeling the scathing heat, although at different degrees.

For now, going to work everyday has become more difficult, strenuous and expensive for Lagosians. From the look of things, people might be staying indoors more on weekends except occasions they need to attend are very important. As Sanwo-Olu remains resolute about his decision to ban Okada and Keke, a massive protest has been planned this weekend to mount serious pressure on him.

Give them job how? Guy, those affected should look for something else to do or go back to there respective states/villages. LASG has a lot of responsibilities on there head to take care of, not to start giving jobs/ or money that is not there to some youths/aboki/terrorists who fled there states or villages as a result of poverty /ethnic /religious or boko haram menace to come and be constituting neusance in the streets of lagos, they should go back to there states and ask people in government for jobs. And for the abokis, they should go and tell boko haram that western education will help in developing the north, not to come to lagos with there plenty wives and children to come and be begging on the streets, that money that people are giving them are products of western education.

Thank you.

Most of the low-income earners have been trekking over long distances to get to work amidst an increase in prices of bus fares. Even the ride-hailing company, Taxify has been experiencing a serious surge in prices with customers either reluctantly patronizing or shunning their services for now.

But these aren't the strange things happening on Lagos roads that this article is about. The traffic jams in Lagos have been doubled since the ban and the reasons are clear. Most people have complained bitterly about the wastage of man-hours in traffic and the problem isn't abating. Here is a decent explanation for their present predicament: several people have vehicles in Lagos State. The issue is that due to the regular incidents of traffic gridlocks, many leave their vehicles at home and go to work by public transport. According to the beliefs of these people, it's cheaper to commute by public transport although it could be quite uncomfortable. People have also cultivated the habit of using motorcycles to escape heavy traffic especially in the Victoria Island/Lekki axis of Lagos State. With the partial ban placed on Okada and Keke Napep, most people keeping their vehicles for rare usage mostly during weekends and special social engagements have rolled them out in obedience to the doctrine of necessity. The resultant effect is the compounding of the issue of traffic in the overpopulated city of Lagos where the public resources especially roads are severely strained and dilapidated.

The Lagos State government's plan to release vehicles to serve as palliatives for the vacuum left behind by the Okadas and Kekes has fallen short in terms of numbers with many believing the action was only successful on paper alone.

But where are the roads? The major problem with Lagos is road network is poor and undeveloped. The people in govt past and present don't measure up in terms of vision for what Lagos truly deserve. Lagos is a problem-solver paradise. First there need to be a tolled 6 or 10-Lane highway with non-tolled feeder roads on both side that run the entire length of the state that then feeds into existing highways. I am not talking of Lagos-Badagry type of highway, though it can be connected to it at the western end of Lagos. They are talking about 4th Mainland Bridge. For what purpose?

The traffic jam is majorly as a result of the construction works going on simultaneously at major parts of Lagos, i.e. the dismantling of roundabouts at Allen, Lekki, Falomo etc; road repairs at Ojota axis of Ikorodu Road, Ogudu-Alapere and Anthony-Gbagbada axis of Apapa Oshodi Expressway, Berger end of the Lagos Ibadan expressway and more.

Whilst acknowledging the inconvenience and suffering of commuters, we should understand that the primary responsibility of govt is the protection of lives and properties (especially against external aggression).

No sensible govt will ignore the security threats of menacing and rampaging unknown people (mostly foreigners that doesn't understand our language without any traceable address) driving against traffic, knocking down themselves, passengers, pedestrians and destroying vehicles leading to loss of lives and breaking legs.

Anyone is free to protest, including you, but ensure it is peaceful and not hijacked by miscreants or be ready to face the consequences.

All this is just your assumption and deep hate. Its not true. How about Gokada? How come Lagos state govt is not requesting that they should register, get licensed, finger print and training on how to ride as well as other regulations. The same you running your mouth now, if you land in america today, you will go and drive cab. Tinubu and Fashola both drove cab in Chicago. Re: Okada Ban: Who Is Experiencing This Thing In Lagos Of Late? by Reference(m): 4:35pm On Feb 07, 2020
A simple understanding of geometry should yell you that the traffic jams will increase. The size of a 4 passenger keke is substantially smaller than the size of any 4 passenger saloon coupled with the fact that the smaller engine capacity will ensure that fuel consumption throughout Lagos state is set to skyrocket.

We will be hearing from the NNPC soon.

Dont use the Dubai model please, will the double decker bus come to your house?

Even Liverpool , they use keke, so whats all this mumu oyibo copy copy all about?

Now as there are more cars on the road, will they ban all the cars?

Lagos is already congested, 25 million plus, and you think a few boats and buses will solve the traffic problem?
