I read this with a 'wrapped' attention. Nice read. The writer is good. And on the subject matter. There's no way Hope's emergence will not be seen as a miracle. The SC erred in their judgement. |

Wantedmiller: Please stop talking nonsense. Someone got 99.9% of the votes with over 100% voter turnout and here u r debating it! Using the precedent of this judgment , a ruling party can easily “win” any election, effectively removing any say u may have in choosing who rules you. And that is what u r busy defending! 2 Likes 1 Share |

Neoteny: If you had read to understand, you'll realise the case is pre-election and therefore Lyon was not yet governor nor his running mate deputy at the instance of the case. Funny enough, a case of death has occurred in kogi where the guber candidate though coasting to victory died before conclusion of elections. Of course, his running mate was also put to "death" an act affirmed throughout by all the courts that heard the matter. 1 Like |

kahal29: Is a lie, Supreme Court has the power to over rule itself if they erred in a judgement and was brought to their notice. Just that Nigeria is gone and even if they goofed on a judgement, as long as it supports the agenda they will not over rule it. Buhari never knew the power of the Supreme Court in a democratic settings when he was first elected, but when he quickly stumbled on it, and advised by his loyalist, he got the Senate, got the AGF and got the Supreme Court. Is game over for Nigeria. Make no mistake, Buhari can do and get away with so many things now that he won't dare do when he was a military head of state. |

Re: How Imo Governorship Election Verdict Generates Judicial Crisis by backbone503(m): 6:46pm On Feb 15, 2020 |
Agboriotejoye: Who else validates or invalidates votes other than INEC's Presiding Officers? Counsel to APC and Hope presented duly signed and stamped Form EC8 series for 380 poling units in which INEC illegally cancelled (not at the unit level). And these were all in APC's strong holds were it won massively 1 Like 1 Share |

Wantedmiller:I live in Owerri and yes Hope did not campaign, I can't remember seeing anything showing sign of governorship campaign from his camp. Only Ihedioha and Uche nwosu campaigned seriously in the state, the rest were just there like they came to escort others... To show he didn't campaign he got only 90k+ votes whereas the rest were getting almost 200k and above. Of course before the judicial abracadabra 1 Like |

Yes, the judges are humans and errors are bound to occur. But it shouldn't be used as an excuse to perpetuate judicial blunders and corruptions. The justices have to try their best to make errors minimal, as possible, because frequent errors spells doom for the judicial system. And also, you can imagine giving a final verdict in issue concerning elections, and the electoral body acts on it... You still come back to reverse the verdict on the basis of 'errors'. When that becomes a normal phenomenon in our society, the Supreme court would end up tossing the electoral umpire to and fro, leading to malignancy in the whole system towards Nigerian people. 1 Like 1 Share |

backbone503:There's nothing like dat. The forms presented by Hope was signed by his polling agents only. Dane with the ones supplied by the police officers. That's why the supreme court said you don't need certification for a duplicate copy. If they're APC strongholds as claimed, how com a house of reps election held recently in the area was won hands down by PDP? There was no voting and in some instances irregularities in those 388 PUs. Even the police brought results for only 366. 1 Like |

Agboriotejoye: And did counsel to Ihedioha, INEC or PDP raise objections to those exhibits (result sheets for the 388 poling units)? As they didn't, doesn't that tell you that the results so tendered are genuine? 1 Like |

Re: How Imo Governorship Election Verdict Generates Judicial Crisis by backbone503(m): 9:37pm On Feb 15, 2020 |
Agboriotejoye: Going by the Evidence Act, if they had raised objection, the result sheets so tendered would never have been accepted and marked as exhibits to be used and relied upon in the course of adjudication. However, a 7-0 unanimous decision shows a very high level of precision. 1 Like |

backbone503:Bros go and read the OP o. You're arguing blindly. The supreme court held that saying the result is fake is tantamount to accusing Hope of forgery and INEC/PDP had to prove it by showing the original. Like I said, go and read the full judgement and be better informed before raising issues. 1 Like 1 Share |

Kingosytex: APC doesnt want to let go of Imo at all. They APC Northern Islamic Fascists have seen Imo as a foothold into the South East. The rope-a-dope in Bayelsa was meant to calm people down so no one can say Supreme Court is partisan. They can easily give away Bayelsa in exchange for Imo, a state in the middle of the SE that must be held at all cost. Hope Uzodimma will never find peace in the rest of his politically rotten life, and he doesnt deserve any. Let me be clear, this country called Nigeria will continue to suffer poverty, insecurity and misgovernance for a very loooooooong time. We have a country where terrorists are ravaging the north-east, sacking villages and claiming nigerian territory as their own, and the nigerian military is more interested in blocking Nnamdi Kanu's parents burial. Thousands of captured Boko Haram fighters , who have killed thousands of Nigerian soldiers and civilians are released by Buhari Terrorhammadu Buhari and Nigerians just keep quiet like nothing is happening, but will jump up to protest if one man slap a woman or if one hungry man steals 30naira to buy coke. Educate yourself with relevant sections of our laws and get tutored so u don't spill out rubbish in public domain.... They were never candidates in the election. You can only impeach someone that won elections, but in this case they were disqualified before the election it's a pretty election matter. Neoteny: |

Audu and this case was quite different. In Audu's case APC as a party has a candidate which was represented by the party's logo on the ballot. Unlike this which did not pass the scrutiny of some relevant laws for joint ticket. quote author=Neoteny post=86680180] James Faleke I can't even remember the details of that case All i recall is that Yahaya Bello was the nuclear fallout of that disaster[/quote] |
