No issue. My wife used her father name as my dependant.

Ensure you include your marriage cert, marriage pictures, courtship pictures, facebook or whatsapp messages, call logs, upkeep payment from spouse evidence e.t.c to proof that your relationship with your husband is subsisting.
.

Thank you for this relief. God bless you.

Hello All,

I will like to make some enquiries and will appreciate responses.

I have just applied for Masters program with my maiden name though married.

My new International passport is on my maiden name.

My marriage certificate is intact.

Though, I plan renewing it with my new name after this expires.

My concerns are:
I hope there won't be any issue during my visa application as my partner will be a Tier 4 Dependant.

Is there any law stating that your Intl. Passport must be in your partner's name before being issued visa.

I await your reply.

Many married women in UK dont change their names.... that doesnt mean they are not married so doesnt mean anything. Just have evidence to support he is your spouse

Good Day All,

Please I have two clarifications to make:

1. In choosing universities in UK for master program in IT Courses, will a university in London city give more advantage to choosing a university outside London city? Considering the Job Opportunities while schooling and after schooling?

2. Considering that am going with a dependant will the ease of of getting jobs withing London city be more than outside London?

Thanks for your responses!

1. There are job opportunities inside London and outside London. Cities like Birmingham, Manchester and Liverpool have lots of job opportunities. Your choice of university should be about the competence and how suited the module is to your career.

2. Since you are bringing dependant, it should be noted that London is very expensive. The average two bed flat is London is about 1200 pounds while 2 bed flat in Birmingham cost you 600 pounds. This is 50 percent less. I repeat there are job opportunities outside and inside London.

Dont choose course and schools because of petty student jobs. Choose schools and courses based on your career advancement.

If you are interested in getting professional jobs and having permanent residency in UK, your focus should be on Tier 2 and post brexit immigration.

Check my posts on page 568 about the two stuffs and how you can effectively plan on it.

Take care.

@JustWise and other gurus in the house..

What are the examples of markettable courses you can study in the UK with high possibilities of securing a tier 2 visa?

I intend studying Petroleum and Gas Engineering....what are the chances of securing a job after study?

And again.. Which courses are in high demand over there apart from the medical and health related courses.
Any help will be appreciated .

Thanks @DMainMan
Can we have the testimonies of international students who got job after study.?

It is not wise to spend that much and still not be able to secure a stable job. Please help a brother here.

You can Google it

I have tried googling before coming up here, testimonies of ppl with real life experiences is better than a vague write up on the internet.

And besides most of the articles on the internet doesn't really take into account the chances of an international students getting a job after study....

I like the fact that you are emphasising on Tier 2. Many people here are focused on getting student jobs and PSW. PSW and student jobs does not lead to permanent residency.

However, Tier 2 and the recently announced UK post Brexit immigration ( to begin in 2021) can lead to permanent residency.

SO HOW CAN I GET TIER 2 VISA?

1. To get Tier 2 visa, the employer must be registered in the government tier 2 sponsored list which gets updated.

https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/register-of-licensed-sponsors-workers.

So if you are applying to companies that is not on the sponsored list, then you cannot have Tier 2 visa.

2. The minimum threshold limit is 30000 pounds for graduate role. This limit is higher for experienced role. What this means is that your Tier 2 employer must pay an annual salary of 30,000 pounds above. This is very hard. Even fresh doctors and nurses (entry level) according to NHS payment scale do not earn 30,000 pounds annually.

WHAT TO DO TO MAKE YOU SECURE TIER 2 VISA AND UK POST BREXIT IMMIGRATION

Try to apply for jobs in the shortage occupation lists: Chef, Geologists, Mechanical Engineers, Civil Engineers, IT, Teachers (science, maths and physics teachers) and many others. Check the below link for more information:

https://www.gov.uk/guidance/immigration-rules/immigration-rules-appendix-k-shortage-occupation-list

The advantage of working in any of the occupation in the shortage lists is that the minimum threshold is reduced. This will allow you to be more employable. Also, for the UK Post Brexit immigration ( to begin in 2021), those in the above shortage lists will be awarded more points.

Good luck and take care.

Thank you brother... This was really helpful

there's this course I want to apply, it has 1 year and 2 years duration with tuition £13k. what I want to know is if the one year is same tuition as that of two years or will the two years be £26k?

I was told it is the same fee since you're getting same degree. the only difference is the length. please I'm confused here.

It is not wise to spend that much and still not be able to secure a stable job. Please help a brother here.

Getting a CoS after your studies, as has been said before, is mainly dependent on your occupation, with those on the shortage list having higher chances (as usual think mainly IT and the medical professions and specialised engineering fields).

Without sugarcoating things, pre-Brexit, a CoS was difficult to get. Obviously, no - one knows how things will turn out post-Brexit, but bear in mind that anti-immigration sentiment was one of the main drivers of Brexit and this government is every bit as anti-immigration as the two previous Tory governments were.

The government needs the high fees international students pay to balance the universities' budgets, the Home Office is a profit-making venture that also feeds fat off the high fees it charges, and the UK's eldercare industry in crisis needs a constant supply of black and brown immigrants willing to work in care homes, so hence the post-study offer, but the government has specifically excluded the 2-year post-study period from any possible settlement reckoning, and it doesn't want most of the international students to stay.

For those who are single, the marriage route may pay off (3 years is enough time to form relationships), but note there is an income threshold for British citizens wanting to "import" spouses.

As you invest your school fees monies and plan for life in the UK, you need to have a realistic view of the situation so you can assess things appropriately.

He has said the most important thing and the rest is for everyone to make a decision wink

Most especially for those resuming in September undecided.
Time is not on your side at all, from first semester to second semester and straight for your dissertation. No time to explore other opportunities of meeting prospective tier 2 employers. Even with the tier 2 visa sponsorship, I have seen engineering graduates here that find it very difficult to secure engineering job because ordinarily certificate will not get you the job here,
This is a country with the latest, modern and digital technology cheesy ( no source ). You must have their licence to practice coupled withgood knowledge of your field software package e.g. engineering field. UK is more than I have first class in mechanical engineering with 15 years working experience in Nigeria and I wish to apply for tier 2 Visa sponsorship undecided

Doesn't matter, same happened to me a year ago wen I applied to BCU, I was instructed to get an affidavit to support my real age cos all my other docs carried my real year. Though month and day were the same, jst the year

Bro i was told to upload my WAEC result with atleast C6 in English by Teesside uni so as to get my unconditional offer letter, my problem is i have a waec result but the person who helped me to register my waec then made a mistake and added a year to my age and it's evident on the WAEC certicate, the age on the certificate is not in sync with the age I'm using nw so I have been using my NECO result since then.... Will teesside accept a NECO certificate please?

Insightful.

Am intending to do my Masters in Developmental and Therapeutic play as my background is in Psychotherapy and upon graduation next year, I will be licensed with the British Association of Play Therapists to work as a Child therapist using play... will this improve my chances of Tier 2 visa sponsorship?

Go to UK job sites such as CV Library, Indeed, Total jobs etc...
Look search for your dream Play Therapy Job.
Look very carefully at the desired attributes.
Have a checklist and see which of the requirements you surpass.
When you have satisfied yourself that your experience and qualification puts you in the 75th percentile of applicants, then you are Good to Go

NB: I saw this type of advise from someone on Nairaland, and I think it was a great advice.
