Nope, I didn't discouraged you. There is a guy here (a Nigerian too) he traveled few years back, had worked in Germany, he do work in a vehicle company and earn a living from it not, menial Jobs. He is currently working on his house here, so I assume he would be back anytime soon. If you want to go there and work as a student you can go ahead, any student who wants to work (with permit) can do that to acquire some dough.

All students are eligible for work permit right?

I want to work, to take care of my basic bills while studying.
Then after studies i should work full time and get luxury...but as a student I wish to work so I can save a large chunk of my block account money.

This is scary. My uncle is on my next...I had an agreement with him to pay him a certain amount from the BA monthly immediately I settle and get a job in Germany. My collateral is at risk o.

So how would one renew his/her visa the next year? I hear you’ll need to present a BA again? For the next year?
Modified that post read now smiley

I understand what you're doing but, can your uncle be a little bit patient please beg him. The thing is I'm trying to suggest what you'll tell 'em at the embassy as borrowing sounds weird. Secondly, you'll try to live frugal but, eat well oo as a Student it's very necessary

My advice for you.

You can give your uncle the money back in one year if you are not going to school regularly or do 1 or 2 courses per semester but there are factors that limit so many things.
1) Your age and if you have energy to do heavy duty jobs like offloading containers or lifting objects in car companies for long time then I will encourage you to come. Life in Germany no easy.
2)learn the language if possible
3) Avoid East Germany if na all out hustling you are coming.
4) Heavy Duty work dey depending on your strength
5) student mini job of 450€ cannot sustain you or pay your basic bills otherwise your block account will go down, you must do full time jobs as the semester is going on because no much holiday inbetween semesters and make sure you don’t fail a course more than 3 times. So doing student school office work no make sense. You have to go to the field and battle it.

Monthly expenses include
1. Average 250€ rent
2. feeding 150€
3. insurance above 30 years( private insurance from 25€ to 35€, then below 30 years 90€ per month for compulsory public insurance).
4. Radio tax 17€
5. Recharge card 10€
6. other things 50€
So if you are using private insurance 550€ can go for one month then public insurance when you are below 30 years then 650€ can go for one month.

I understand you, but I don’t think there’s anywhere life is easy. I can’t come to Germany seat down and exhaust all my Block Account money, next year I’ll start calling home for money doing that would only send my Mama into depression if not coma.
I’m 95kg, 6ft 27yrs Old Dude, doing heavy duty jobs as student is no problem at all, I’m ready to work and earn money.

Is it the heavy duty jobs that’d earn you €450 monthly?

So if I earn €450, I have a shortage of €200..so what you mean is even if I work I’ll still need an extra €200 from my Block account??

If taking out €200 from my Block account is it, I don’t have a problem with that...that’s saving up to €500-600 from my BA.

I won’t tell them at the embassy I borrowed the money either. That’s between me and my uncle.

Even if I can refund him half of the money in 1yr that’d be better.

I have seen this warning about East Germany..I’ll try my best to avoid that area.

Can you give me a hint why everyone says East Germany to be avoided.

Is Magdeburg in East Germany??

First you only pay the so called bastard US tax if you earn high amounts abroad. You are required to file taxes from abroad but it doesn’t mean you will owe taxes. Secondly if you renounce your are not subject to the bastard US tax anymore so just go ahead and renounce since you hate the US so much. And I don’t mean the I’ll move to Nigeria but keep my US passport in case move. I mean give it up officially and fully immerse yourself in Nigeria since you hate the US so much and believe so much in Nigeria.

You say it’s so bad for our laptops to be monitored, that’s why I keep saying move to Nigeria, contact the US embassy to renounce your citizenships. at least in Nigeria it’s only SARS that will seize your laptop and phone and if you bribe them they will leave you.

What exactly are you hiding on your phone and laptop that is driving you nuts to this extent? You better focus on the sensible things you have control over such as career an educational choices, invest for you and your families future instead of crying that government is monitoring your phone. And while they monitor for certain words that can then flag you for enhanced tracking, they are not sitting there listening to every single word osazuwa says on his phone or every porn site he watches on his laptop. I doubt you are that important.

Maybe if the Nigeria government had the ability to monitor, we would find it easier to deal with Bolo Haram and other security issues we face, oh wait basic emergency numbers for the police or fire brigade don’t even work so how can I expect them to monitor people duh.

osazuwa23:
I am not ready to renounce yet but i am already a nigerian citizen so i can move back anytime. The problem is that when i move to nigeria i still be subject gated to usa bastard taxes but i dont know how true that is. There no such thing as privacy freedom in this country if your non european you being monitored 24/7 by government on your laptop and phones even the rich are being monitored

If you need to renew, you should show that you have fund to continue. I don't know if you can convince your uncle to send it to you again that's if he hasn't invest it somewhere else

Heavy duty job will earn you a minimum of 1200€ or higher monthly but it is a full time job.Is difficult to combine it with school work, so when you do full time job while going to school, you will be failing some courses or not having good grade. But most school allow failing and resitting a failed course 3 times before withdrawing the studentship and possible deportation.

If you say taking 200€ from block account is not a problem then how will you pay your uncle his money back and still have some money for visa renewal. I think you should be working towards not touching your block account after 3 months of settling down.

Magdeburg is in East Germany.

In the East Germany, racism is high, sometimes they attack foreigners,no much companies for full time job. They take everything serious, no overworking, renewal of visa you Must have big money in your account unlike in other places sometimes with your job contract your student visa maybe renewed.

Note:most mini job pay less than 450€

Okay if you don't want to spend from your block account, then you might consider getting a full scholarship or you might want to save up huge sum till you are ready to apply for a student visa.

If you know you don't have enough money to cover your cost of studies you might not want to waste your time and effort or complicate things for yourself; do you want to study for a year or two and drop out because of insufficient funds or get stranded and put yourself in a difficult situation, no don't do what you'll regret.
... For the last part you can call back to get more funds to continue (renewal), student Jobs can take care of your bills but, not all of them, at least it could keep you in a place (housing) but not everything as you'll need support from your bank account. It's not an uncommon reason that people work part-time because the funds in their block account is not enough and they live normal not extravagant.

Part time menial won’t be enough for you to run your monthly expenses, you must touch your block account well if you do only menial job while studying. Full time job is a must otherwise your block account will finish.

And doing full time Job will make you not to fit into schooling properly, your schooling will just be anyhow, if you manage get grade 4 for a course you go dey happy say you don pass that course.

It is very difficult to repay the borrowed block account money because many factors will come into place. Last last you maybe forced to cut off with the person that borrowed you 10k €uros in Naija and change your number when the Reality set in. They no dey tell man.

So after exhausting my BA, what would I use to renew my visa the next year? I’ll request for another BA from Nigeria?

You got me confused, I thought you said I should be working towards not touching my BA after 3months of settling....now you saying working as student can’t earn me money for my basic bills unless I work full time which would affect my studies.

So what you saying is I’ll an extra 4.2m to renew my visa that’s exhausting almost 8.4m for studies

What I am saying is that in Germany, they have mini job( menial job or part time job) and Full time Job, then mini job cannot pay your bills, you have to support with your block account. Full time job which is 8hours per a day Monday to Friday(any day you did not come na sack be that unless if you are sick and get a paper from hospital). This full time job will make you not to touch your block account. But imagine been on a night shift work starting by 10pm to 6am carrying heavy motor parts. Reaching your house by 7.30 am how will you attend lectures again without sleeping.

We fail and fail courses. The struggle nobi here. If want to pay the block account money back then you have to disobey the 20hrs rule otherwise you can’t pay your debt back and your block account money will be going down monthly.

For renewing your visa, you don’t need to present a full 10k euros except if you are in some crazy East German state that will deal with you as a black man if don’t have much money in your account.

Some western German state with 1k euros in your account they will renew your visa. Visa renewal is not a problem. You don’t need to call home for another money.

Your major concern should be how to pay back your loan not visa renewal, paying back any money require full time job and physical good health to manage combining working full time with going to school and sometimes job will stop. Not all the time that job is available.

It's not your fault, if only Nigerian currency is good. The amount of that block account from Euros to Ghana Cedis is not up to 60k ¢ Do not despair, you can take a scholarship if available.

Thing is developed countries spending rate is high in terms of naira but, can someway match the salary rate on a decent job there if paid in euros, a decent job here would match if the currency exchange rates are not high. I mean a man earning N200k monthly in Nigeria is quite enough for his everyday but, if taken to top places in developed countries it might not cover his rent sad Please don't feel bad about this, it's not your fault. You can finish school in Africa and do a masters degree in Germany, don't know if that's a bad suggestion. I don't know but, is studying in Germany truely your dream ... had double thought on that though.

I dream of doing masters in Germany to take advantage of the free tuition masters but with this I am hearing is completely heartbreaking.

I never knew one would require another 4.2m the next year...that’s 8.4m total for 2yrs stay in Germany. Wow.

This 4.3m...I managed and struggled to get.

Honestly 8M+ is too much for a total of 2 years, in Nigeria some people can survive on that amount for nearly a decade or so. Education in a good foreign place could be a good investment and should pay off sooner.

I mean what you gain from menial Jobs isn't enough that you will need assistance from your block account, if you are done with your studies; you can raise funds later to pay your uncle. To make it easier do this, for housing do split bills w/ somebody (find someone with like mind), cook at home but, you can eat outside if you want (once in a while), you can reduce transportation if you have a bike/cool bicycle don't shame oo. Sadly just pay health insurance even though you'll be fine through out , you can never tell. You can buy a huge food stuff or bulky items don't worry, you'll spend less later as having items like this at hand shouldn't bother you with market time. Holiday time don't return home, utilise it to make some cash that will help you in the next semester

God bless you

I have a family friend in Germany who we are currently negotiating on sponsorship because the whole money required to make this move for masters is too much for me to afford. This family friend works in a big company over there and is married too.
My question is if he decides to sponsor me do I need to apply for a blocked account?
Are my chances of getting an AD at the embassy slim?
