heilige: My plan is to work and take care of basic fees while I save up the money from my Block Account. From your reply, seems getting a job in Germany as a student is difficult?? |

Victorex001:Well, menial Jobs shouldn't be in your wishlist there. You'll need to create time for studies; you might put yourself to work few hours a day and you can get something to eat from it too. |

Its far way better than nigeria to compare How much does universities pay just for tuition fee in nigeria, state universities in nigeria for two semester o. Their school fees alone has exceeded that amount. Plus accomodation and other dues. Even a federal univerity in nigeria. By the time you add your transport fare from your cheaper apartment to school, your feeding cost, your school dues and text books, miscellaneous, you will that 323k for an international school with more opportunity of getting a life sustaing job is much better. 1 Like |

Victorex001:You'll definitely spend a good percentage from your block account. You should get some money from whatever work you are doing but, don't work more than the limit. You should work more during the break and less during study sessions. Of you'll live outside campus get ready to spend on rent unless you wanna pair up w/ someone. I don't think you can easily save the money in your block account. Please don't make work your point of focus |

God bless you even the big cities, their semester ticket sometimes can take to to the entire state and with that they can live where they can afford the accommodation and move around from there. The point is most of the OP analyses are exaggerated abimcdssi: |

Stephenmoka4: I understand. As much as schooling and getting good grades is my priority. The money from the block account is borrowed. I have an uncle who’ll be lending me the money with undertaking to payback that’s what I am worried about this. |

That's a simple truth. Moreover for you to quote cost of living, did you consider their minimum wage?, Most students make at least 450€/month while majority makes over 1000€ monthly and they only spend a fraction of this. Sterope: |

Victorex001:Firstly I don't think you can survive on menial job alone. Secondly, if asked about the source of fund, borrowing as a source is not sounding really great. It won't be easy |

Almost every person I know has something doing, you will get better offers if you have good understanding of the language. Learning the language is very important and will always give you a lot of opportunities Victorex001: |

Rent in biggger cities are very expensive. However, most other German cities will have cheaper accomodation so the range shouldould be about €400-€850 for both rent and feeding. nwigwemark: |
Re: Cost Of Living In Germany For Nigerians:5 Things To Know As A Student In Germany by Sterope(f): 9:17am On Feb 22, 2020 |
I know. There is a range. That 850 does not apply to most German cities. Even at that, 500-600 should do for accomodation room. For a person struggling to survive, he shouldn't be looking for anything higher. heilige: |

Op, point of correction.Nigeria is not a developing country. We have not even started any form of development when cow lives is being more valuable than its citizens. No form of biometrics for proper identification, Corrupt politicians propagating policies that will only make the rich richer.Investment in human resource development zero and almost every country is tightening up their visa ban because of incompetency and negligence by our so called leaders. When we start the process of development,we will feel it. 1 Like |

Davidflight: Very true. Same approach my friend adopted. His MSc was two years. He's still there with his wife and his boys. He completed his MSc that was sponsored by PTDF last year but waiting for residency permit which he said was to be issued this month but the authority asked him to give them three more months. Meanwhile, him and wifey are undergoing intensive language classes. His wife and children were denied Visa at first application. I wouldn't know why. However, the issue of securing a job, he said it's not easy. In terms of job, he said there's abundance. However, to even secure washing of plates, one must need language certification. And it's more challenging for an average Nigerian in his field to be employed there given the low technical know-how in Nigeria relative to Germany. 1 Like |

abimcdssi:. Some of the things he wrote are true and some are no more true .cost of living increases yearly.transport cost increases yearly.the block account is no more 8k.you may have to pay radio and TV taxes in some places .as much as 17 euros monthly, when you combine cost of recharge card of 15 euros for some network and cheapest of 5 euros for some network.he is partially correct.language is key, even to get some dirty jobs, you require language ,imagine you need to work as a cleaner in an office and then they don't want to speak English .you can't get the job, unless some very good company who permit English speakers. Most Germans can speak English but pretend they can't and on the average ,they hate speaking English .partially because ,they feel they are not so good in it .as a student, you can't work the whole year legally ,don't most Nigerians go against the rule.you can be fined heavily or risk deportation.jobs are not available in all states in germany, some places don't have jobs and if you find yourself there ,u will be miserable.some level of racism also exist .on the average ,I don't discourage people but know what you want before coming .tschuss 1 Like |

Stephenmoka4: Wow. If one can’t survive with menial jobs as a student then I don’t think coming over to Germany to study is worth it. Because the idea of school and working abroad to me was to work little jobs to take care of basic bills while schooling it’s not gonna be easy and won’t make sense me school in Germany while requesting for money from my poor Mama. Secondly, I’ll definitely not tell Germany I borrowed money for the Block account, I’m just stating my reality. |
