Meeting my in-laws for the first time was very interesting. My mother in Inlaw was ecstatic to see me and she didn't hide it. She went out of her way to make sure I was well taken care of.

my in-laws are based abroad, so all the while we were running the show from Uniben till graduation no meeting, when i finally met them, her Dad was thrilled that i work in a company he was associated with in the past in his younger days something his daughter was not even aware of, we clicked instantly, and when he knew i got a 2.1 and was on my M.Sc the man was elated and took me aside for a heart-to-heart chat and of course some some bottles( we were on same brand Star!)....the mom was so cool and had a surprise in store for me, my wife-to-be had confided in her mom that she was some weeks gone and one of the reasons for the rush to tie the knot...the mom gave her some cash to prepare pounded yam for me that i was a real man! she kept that pattern even after the marriage any time she return home and discovered we had scored another goal she will call my wife aside and give her specific financial instructions to give me pounded yam...so i had this special treat on four occasions!..best inlaws ever if u ask me..i hope i can be this good to my future in laws-both daughters and sons in-law

ok, you be man abi loolll grin grin grin grin grin grin

Met them last year. Arranged with babe to get some fruits, kept in my house and carried it along on the said day. I was nervous because I've never done this before so had to go with a friend who's skilled in that aspect and also free with me and babe. Got there around 10am on Saturday, we were welcomed by her family and babe introduced us to her parents. Mum and Dad liked me instantly, very easy man, we spoke about politics, education, public service, business ideas and more. Thank God I went with a friend who's very vocal and versatile, we discussed more like youths and he never asked us any question.
Before arrival her dad gave her money to get us chicken and asked what we'd like to eat and after awhile, we were led to the dinning.
I pray I have a loving family like theirs where children are so free with their parents, I felt like spending more time with them but had to leave early because I hate driving at night.
Another funny encounter was immediately after the meal, babe was at the dining with us and told me to discuss with mum personally, you need to see how scared I was, was asking her what I'd talk about, how would I say this and that, my friend laughed at me ehn.... But the visit was cool. I loved her the more after that meeting because I saw a template of my projected family in theirs. I'm getting married this year sha, tired of bachelorhood.

my babe parents are both late, an Igbo girl adopted by a Yoruba parents. they sponsored her from primary to tertiary institution where we met

I have met with her guardians and I was advise to gather myself to bring my parents to visit them then we go to East to do the traditional rites

I'd called the woman but her husband is not the social type like that

na just normal question

* where do you meet her*

where are you from

how are your parents? do they know about your union with her

what do you do?

are you willingly to marry her? have you think about it

You did justice to this thread because you gave the possible questions in laws can ask.

still going for a visit outside their (my in-laws) house. their knew about my visit to their daughter but they just feel uninterrupted about us which makes me look nervous towards their concern about us, though I ask her and she said her parent her cool with me.

just got my apartment, but hoping to be bold enough to profess my proposal to her parent. though I wish I could earlier but am financial weak.

But I love her....

My mother-in-law to be is so sweet and timeless.
She's always minding her business.

How much I like people who mind their business. You are fortunate with her.

I agree and the battle for supremacy hasn't helped any of them either. I've seen so many marriages collapse due to women influence. Wife vs mother-in-law. Sister-in-law vs wife, etc

I actually married my friend and I have been visiting the house before I proposed.

My mother in-law had told my wife then that I am going to propose based on my actions. Thank God we are still happily married 10 years after.

Funny enough they're fair and tall in their family but the only girl left just got admission to UI. That's the baby of the house and she's just 17 years, she needs to focus on her studies. Thanks.

I met the whole of my fiancee's family the same day, after we started on phone. Someone recommend her. There was no social media back then to check her out. So I travelled from Enugu to Benue and met her physically. I fell in LOVE with her family first. I loved the way the parents related with one another and with the children and vice versa. They all received me like they've known me all their lives! I was impressed!

Right there, I advised myself that I if I don't marry into that family, I am the one at a loss. Summary: we dated for four years (distant relationship) and married in 2010. We will clock 10 years this May. Best decision EVER!!!

During our traditional wedding, our parents discovered they knew each other! My Uncles knew my father in-law very well. My mother-in-law single-handedly slashed the wedding requirements for the wedding and warned everyone from their side not to interfere with the proceedings! (I was struggling back then).

God has blessed me now and they are the ones benefiting. Bought my father in-law a car some years ago. It's due for change sef cool

My in-laws are my biggest fans!
I thank God and give him the glory.
