I FELT NIGERIA WAS A FOREST BECAUSE BACK THEN (SOME 20 YEARS BACK) EVEN MM INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT, LAGOS WAS JUST LIKE A SHRINE. EVEN TILL DATE NIGERIA ONLY LOOKS GOOD WHEN ONE VISITS A FEW PLACES LIKE LAGOS ISLAND & ABUJA (I DON’T KNOW ANY OTHER GOOD LOOKING PLACE BECAUSE I’M ALWAYS VERY BFIEF WHEN I VISIT THAT COUNTRY). THE POWER CHALLENGE THE COUNTRY FACES IS ANOTHER SERIOUS FLOP.

. I miss home and couldn't sleep so I went clubbing and returned to my hotel with an Italian, she make a comment about Nigeria,i wasn't please with it,I stood up UnCloth and she was expecting me to do the deal, I told her I am way above her league(too classy to take shit) I call a cab and walk her to the door like a calm and gentle Nigeria. Next morning she offered me a business deal which I accept with conditions, sadly a Nigerian I help run away with my passport and dollar.
which tribe is that Nigeria you helped that bleeped you up? I once travel to Malaysia too but I was deported at port of entering , it was during time Nigerian were kidnapping and bad shit about Nigerian 2010 or 2009, one of those guys we are about to enter got scammed. ask someone to borrow him dollars so he can show immigration there his PTA but later return it back with fake dollars for the guy. thank God I act smart,I would have fall victim because the guy already ask me but I denied

Let's say ""Confused and mesmerized".
It took days for my brain to adjust to the new environment. It's like a different Instagram filter, but in real life.
First time is always unique, subsequent times, not really

I said to myself, "Now I understand why these people are ahead and don't carry religion on their head, but technology."

The entire country was tiled and it looked like a paradise. Anyway, I cried when I recalled the type of dirty zinc I saw when the plane lifted at Lagos airport and the ones I saw in the new country.
Shame! Angry!
I have considered traveling outside Nigeria before but it has not really been my priority. From your post , to travel don dey hungry me.

I didn't feel differently until when I got to Germany. I boarded a Lufthansa air from lagos in 2004 to New York JFK with a stop in Frankfurt, unlike today, the ticketing company ( travel agency) told me I must obtain a german transit visa and they would help me get that which they eventually did.

On getting to New York JFK, I was like wooow. This is indeed a new world lol. By the time i got to jamaica via sutphin boulevard, the cold was much, entering my bone marrow. I rushed into a coffee shop. After taking a cup of coffee, I didn't feel like leaving the place cos it was warm. I later left for a train station and headed for my destination. It was a memorable experience for me.

It was my travel to UK in 2009 to start my masters program courtesy of PTDF scholarship. Prior to that, I haven't entered plane before.

It was a KLM plane that I boarded that first landed in Amsterdam. I was shocked and that was when I knew that there was so much gap between a developed country and a developing country.

Then from Amsterdam to Aberdeen, as I entered Aberdeen city to my university, I felt ashamed of Nigeria. I started cursing all our past leaders.

See the decency on the road with well marked roads, pedestrian walk ways, traffic light and the beauty of Aberdeen.

I went to a lot of places in Scotland as a student - from Aberdeen, Glasgow, Edinburgh, Fife, Perth, Dundee, St. Andrews and Blairgowrie. All these places were well developed. No place was left out unlike the kind of development we see in Africa where only the country's capital is better developed.

It was an eye opener as I kept wondering why we couldn't replicate the same in Africa.

All regions, villages and towns received the same attention from government.

We are far far behind when compared to Europe. Their ancestors must have made a great sacrifice to build a better society for the future generations.

Here in Nigeria and Africa, current generation care less about the future ones. For their mind, make una come follow us suffer Wetin we suffer.

The heart of a black man is wicked biko.

I had ran around all day saying all my goodbyes, arranging who got what of all my stuff, shunting through the MM Airport traffic and eventually jammed into the window seat (Economy) of a British Airways flight from Lagos to Heathrow. I was tired and hungry but equally anxious: how e go be? The whole experience for me started from putting my feet on the plane, the courtesy of the BA flight attendants was a hint almost like welcome to the world where things work without connections. They served us a European meal, with a choice of wine, water and juice. Being a newbie, I did not want to miss a thing, so i asked for water and juice. The chap on the aisle and middle seats requested for red wine. They guzzled it and knocked out sleeping all through the flight. On arrival at Heathrow, it was 6 ish am, got my bags and paper map to navigate my way. Unable to make a head or tail of it, I approached this white guy under the assumption 'decent oyinbo guy in suit and oxford scarf' to ask directions. Perhaps, it was my JJC, Akata wannabe look I had, or the size of the map - I will never know ... na so Oyinbo slam me one big isho "I DONT HAVE TIME FOR YOU"

I have not been to the airport nor enter an aeroplane to know how it really feels to be onboard, let alone traveling abroad...... Hmmn. But I strongly believe, one day, Almighty God will pick my call and answer my prayers and to everyone that's looking forward for a better thing like this. (Amen).

If you have travelled to any civilized country then tell us your experience the day you wanted to travel overseas for the first time. How was it? Was there any challenge? Were you HAPPY? Was it a fun experience?

How did you feel when you arrived your destination?

Let us know how it was.

You'd appreciate the fact that you're not in Nigeria. Nigerians have a certain mentality that typifies most of the ghettos and average places. You simply can't miss the difference.

However, that roads are bad, no electricity etc... no be everybody dey experience am for naija o!
If you live in the better parts of certain cities in Nigeria, the only major difference will be the foreign faces and weather.

What's tha business?
you're right. We enjoy 24/7 electricity in my area
