I'm opportune to have an uncle who has stayed in US for more than 20 yrs now. He's a surgeon and one of the best in his field but the biggest gift I've received from him was 800 naira in 2007. Though he use to give me those big bargy trousers once in a while I still see the 8h as his biggest gift to me because trouser no be my problem.

Pls tell me your own.

He owes you nothing , your relatives owe you nothing. If they help you, accept it as a bonus.

Work hard to stand on your own feet.

Move to a cheaper apartment. With 70k income, you need to cut your coat accordingly.
All that extra money she’s putting in your landlord’s pocket could have been better spent on investment for you.

This is the same advice I’d give any relative of mine in your shoes. Unless she’s ready to keep sending you money forever instead of helping you get on your own two feet.

No, Sister
Coco..u shouldn't just come up with this without getting all the facts and full details first..

Do you imagine she don't already know about this or the Sister enjoys doleing out monies like that..
Come on now_!

How do I put this without sounding ungrateful?? Cos I appreciate every dime given from anyone’s hard earned money. Ok lets just say they haven’t given to me anything that I haven’t dashed out to people 3 times over. Yes..

And it’s fine nobody owes u anything really especially outside ur nuclear family so appreciate or simply reject it if Ure more than that. Lol

He wants to impress me every time he sends things home.
Always sending 250naira worth boxers and 300naira worth belt, na one ibo boy dey always help me confirm the price.
I Wan ask, shey Aba boys Don dey send belt and boxers go UK ni?
Does UK people, dem be akagum eshin national theater

Most of you guys typing this, if you find yourself in the position of living abroad I swear you wont even given person #5.
Sometimes you people thinks as if everything abroad is free or people get monies off the shelf.
If these people keep sending money to you all the way you are typing here , and tomorrow things turn bad for them, you people ll be the first to cast them.
See, people leaving abroad owe you nothing, just like those living in Nigeria doesnt owe you as well.
Ask yourself what have you send to him/her ever since you know that they are living abroad.

Dude it’s just common sense,I didn’t ask for nothing, you got me a gift for my birthday,it happens to be a gaming laptop ,fortunately for me I have 2 laptops that serves me well already,so you expect me to lose out by a million Naira and hold on to the 3rd laptop because of what you call value right

The giver is still fighting with you because you don't value things.. That's a common problem and a very big reason why people abroad do not send as much or valuable gifts to relatives at home. For you... you don't understand nor intend to understand the value of a gift. The value is not in dollars and cents but in sentiments. How can you sell something that should have sentimental value? And we would be wondering how people sell their relatives into prostitution . Same thing... no sentiments attached. The married ring...18 carat gold... from your great great grandmother..... market price US$14 000.... would you sell it for US20K? I guess you will because you already have a ring.
If you had no use for the laptop... why not let your uncle know you didn't need it?.... and for him to redirect it to someone else? Or permit you to gift it to someone deserving? Selling a gift is a definite no no.

Some are generous and can afford to assist.

Some aren't generous even as they are buoyant.

Yet we have those who are genuinely unable.

There is even the remote case of those who are struggling yet go overboard to help.

Some people have their spiritual home in their roots.

I know of people who do kpeke in the west, live a spartan life, yet invest in friends, family and properties back home.

Israel Adesanya defended his middleweight title with a unanimous decision win over Olympic wrestling medallist Yoel Romero at UFC 248 in Las Vegas.

In a cagey, tactical contest that lacked the excitement many fans anticipated, Nigeria-born New Zealander Adesanya, 30, peppered the 42-year-old Cuban with powerful leg kicks to take victory on the scorecards.

The bout started almost at a complete standstill, with Romero static in the middle of the octagon, holding a high guard.

The Sydney 2000 freestyle wrestling silver medallist's bizarre style clearly puzzled Adesanya, who struggled to find any openings through the first two rounds.

Adesanya found more rhythm in the second half of the fight, however, scoring consistently with powerful kicks to Romero's lead leg.

Romero's attacks were few and far between, and the judges' scorecards read 48-47, 48-47, 49-46 as Adesanya negotiated his first title defence since winning the belt against Australian Robert Whittaker in Melbourne last year.

His performance did little to satisfy the crowd, who booed for long spells of the fight.

With fans jeering his post-fight interview, Adesanya said: "It was a hard fight but, cliche, I did what I had to do. I picked him apart. The legs don't lie.

"He plays the game in lulls. He tries to get you into a false sense of security. My coaches said I need 25 minutes of sharpness, but it's hard to engage with someone who doesn't want to dance. I touched him up. And still."

Asked whether he had any concerns about the judges potentially scoring the fight for Romero, Adesanya said: "As long as they didn't listen to the crowd, I was fine."

A frustrated Romero was cheered by the crowd after the fight and, pointing to the fans, claimed "this is my victory" before criticising Adesanya for not engaging with him during the fight.

"He was running and running and running. That's not a champion," Romero said.

"The people pay because they want to see a good fight. Not this. You need to respect the people. They pay for a fight, not for running."
