The generator bill is actually a very good one. Nigerians may not understand, but untill something of that major is done there'll not be electricity in Nigeria. Thats the only way it will become urgent to the government, infact the power will stabilize in a year. All of you want stable electricity when someone comes of with a way forward you stand against it.

It is not too late. We can still fix it.

There is no sabotaging going on now so fix it if u can and the gens will automatically reduce in sales. There is no need for any ban. Generator will only be for emergency back up.

I don't have generator at home I've not seen one for 3years I don't need it but I send solar panels home.
Good!
That's your own power system!

I am quite sure it must have cost you some huge funds to have a number of solar panels,a huge amount of inverter batteries and an inverter that takes care of your house load!

However, not every Nigerian can afford to get such huge investment for power supply!

The same senator that is dangling this bill has at least two generating set that he uses when he gets home or to his village!

Let the government provide power to everyone 4 for at least 21hours and watch the purchase for generators reduce!

Where there is DEMAND for electricity, there will be SUPPLY of generators or other alternatives like solar system!
Its that simple!

I think say I go die last night for the heat, my gen coil burn but I had a healthy dose of generator fumes from my neighbour's gen before NEPA pitied us and gave us light.

The reason there's a light bulb today is cause there was a void. If we do not see the need to sort out our power issue, we will use generator for years.
now I get your point sis...the government need to work on the provision of stable power supply and there won't be need for buying generators..once the demand for it becomes less than the importation will gradually drop until they stop bringing them in...if only government understands that if u really want to take something away from Nigerians then u must provide a very good alternative..as for heat, even the rainfall sef no fit reduce the heat cheesy ..get a good recoiler to fix your coil and also please kindly tell your neighbors to change direction of their generator fumes

Generator bill is the only sensible one there. To develop we need to take drastic action taken otherwise 10years from now we will be having the same problem.
We have a few years before countries stop combustion engine production. European countries will stop producing generators. But the countries producing them don't use it. They are going to use the financial opportunity of these to weak our chances of developing our energy so that we keep depending on them.
We can spend money on other sources of energy like solar, there are intelligent Nigerians out there developing better cheap sources of energy we are not supporting. States are supposed to spend money on research and installation of solar in schools and hospitals. We should look at noise pollution and air pollution these generators cause and the health impacts in our lives.

FFK has money to fly to UK for care do we all have that NO. My argument might not make sense now but look at the future opportunity.

I support the bill, I just feel they should project the advantages and then so research how renewable energy companies can invest in the power sector. Or even a public private partnership on renewable energy.
How many Nigerians can afford renewable energy? Even America government had to drop their renewable energy bill because its was expensive.
The stupid senator should tell us when they ban generator and the power sector remain the same, what happen next?

Plus it will reduce the air pollution.
So if we scrap the purchase of generators and also ban its use because of air pollution, what will be your own alternative for individuals who have not seen public power for months or years?

Hmmm,, some folks want to end what little productivity or economic activity that exists in certain areas in this country.

This is part of that Islamization and fulanisation agenda. They want to cripple the economy of the south. This is simply a noose around the necks of productive nigerians. Imagine having to get approval from this hateful government to produce power for economic activity ?

Let he/she who has understanding decipher this multiprunged agenda involving state and none state actors.

Fulani terrorists in the guise of herders kill, maim and terrorize Nigerians into submission . Villages are ethnically cleansed into IDP camps daily.
Fulani captured central government orders centrally controlled armed forces and police to aide, abate and turn a blind eye to these activities.
Over paid senators from unproductive states ravaged by Fulani terrorists seek to make laws that muzzle the people and hamper business activity.

If the senator from niger state is interested in a clean environment, he should start with a bill against open defeacation.

I am sorry to say that you didn't read the shit in full but if you did maybe you didn't pick the criminal clauses inserted here and there.

Did you see where he said some institutions will be given waiver? Did you see where he said individual could apply for license? Then what if some are given the license while some are denied as we know it will happen?

If they are serious they should come up with road map on how to create power first, be it private investment or give states power to generate to the masses.

However it is nigeria, a country that has everything yet lacks everything.

We still flare gas in our oil industry.
We still use internal combustion engines in our vehicles.
We still experience oil spillage in the Niger Delta.
We still dump our waste in landfills and water ways.

The power sector is in a bad state as a result of poor management and corruption.

Passing a Generator ban bill will not solve air pollution but will wreck the economy.

You are entitled to support whatever, but with so much spent on electricity supply and yet nothing to show for it, it is the poor people that will suffer it. The rich will shift to the nearest (expensive) alternative like solar etc. And even if solar is made a cheaper alternative for all, the problem of electricity supply is still there.

Bottom line: Poor people (over 70%) will suffer a generator ban.

you are making a point in your way, but, there some things that faze away by itself without even govt banning it. For eg, if our electricity sector becomes stable, no one will have to buy generator and importing of generators will faze out.

Let our government provide us with stable electricity before they think of banning generator.

Our leaders usually wake up one morning and decide to ban one thing or the other, without providing an alternative first.
