Ovia started out as a clerk at Union Bank, formerly Barclays Bank in 1973. This was shortly after he finished his secondary school. He worked for 3 years as a bank clerk before moving to USA where he obtained his Bachelor’s and Master’s degree. Maybe it has been a lifelong ambition for Jim to one day takeover Union Bank.

At this crucial and delicate investment cycle and always; you will do yourself much good and saved yourself of great financial loss by:
1. Not investing just by hearsay or with others opinion alone without your due diligence
2. Making sure you don’t lack understanding of the investment product you want to venture into
3. Not relying only on past performance of a particular investment window – past performance is no guarantee of future results
4. Don’t follow the crowd. Investment is not by popular opinion, it’s based on facts, figures and economic realities
5. Be realistic
6. Take calculated risk to avoid casualties
7. Beware of get rich quick syndrome – investment is not a destination it’s a journey
8. Think of the safety of funds first before interest, gains or returns.
9. Get a mentor
10. Have your own strategy base on your investment objectives and follow it religiously until you have a better option.

A Realist buys from the pessimist and sells to the optimist.

Life will always oscillate between these 2 ends (euphoria and depression,)so will markets . A Realist will always try to strike a balance.

At cp ,Union bank is one of the most expensive banks in the sector.
Just hope that zenith will not over pay for this acquisition.

My fear also. Plus i dont see any value add in Zenith getting bigger within the country. Strategically it wld make more value for zenith to expand into other African market both for diversification of its revenue base and also hedge on stiffer regulatory environment that Nigeria had became

This is worse than the rumor of FBNH venturing into the brothel of Polaris and Heritage.
Forget all the fanciful terms you will be hearing from our in-house Patrick Obahiagbon sounding analysts.

FBNH will be getting Polaris + Heritage almost for free.
Zenith will be dealing with smart guys who have grounds to negotiate.

Happy weekend.

Stock futures plummet — hit ‘limit down’ — even as Fed slashes rates; Dow futures off 1,000 points
PUBLISHED SUN, MAR 15 20206:01 PM EDTUPDATED MOMENTS AGO

Stock futures plunged Sunday night even after the Federal Reserve embarked on a massive monetary stimulus campaign to curb slower economic growth amid the coronavirus outbreak. While the central bank’s actions may help ease the functioning of markets, many investors said they would ultimately want to see coronavirus cases peaking and falling in the U.S. before it was safe to take on risk and buy equities again.

The Fed blasted its monetary bazooka for sure,” said Peter Boockvar, chief investment officer at Bleakley Advisory Group. “This better work because I don’t know what they have left and no amount of money raining from the sky will cure this virus. Only time and medicine will.”

The Fed cut interest rates down to basically zero, their lowest level since 2015. The U.S. central bank also launched a massive $700 billion quantitative easing program. President Donald Trump said he was “very happy” with the announcement, adding: “I think that people in the markets should be very thrilled.”
