Tax in IPPIS is optimal
Re: Has Any Federal Civil Servant Received The New Minimum Wage? by Yohh: 7:52am On Mar 17, 2020
What I can deduce from ur discussions so far is that university staff have been undertaxed but the IPPIS will ensure optimal tax deduction.
Tax used to be restricted to basic salary but that has changed since about 4 years ago, allowances are now taxed.
My tax jumped from 7k to 18k when my basic salary was just 120k in November, 2016 when the new tax system took off, I guess the universities didn't implement it then, but IPPIS automatically will, hence the drop in your take home now.
My basic salary now is about 198k and tax is close to 40k because of my allowances
So don't be deceived, minimum wage might have be included in your salaries but your take home might not increase because of the optimal tax deducted.
Mind u, I work in a tertiary hospital not a university.

`Check your monthly payslip. The IPPIS paid gross of your salary. No minimum wage was included in the salary. This anomaly might continue for two to three months before allowances are captured. Arrears of minimum wage will follow any moment from now. With time IPPIS will effect series of deductions including third party deductions that were not done initially.
7victor:
The same thing I have been wondering.

If minimum wage was not included, how come that the money being paid to me last week,if multiplied by 12 months,

will be more than the gross amount written on my appointment letter.

I don't understand the whole thing.
Re: Has Any Federal Civil Servant Received The New Minimum Wage? by dollext: 2:09pm On Mar 17, 2020
We already have our own payslip here. Minimum wage was implemented base on our previous level and position captured it during reg in December coz we were told not to use our promotion. Wht we noticed is they consolidate all the money before its been taxed. unlike before where they taxed only Basic salary. and 2.5% of NHF was deducted across board.

from the payroll sent to my institution, the February 2020 salary was paid with NMW. Hazard/high risk of 5% on consolodated salary was paid. Tax(7%), CPS(8%), NHF(2.5%) and Union dues(1%) were deducted. Having used the about calculation, I arrive at exactly the same amount paid to me by ippis. New minimum wage has been implemented, those saying otherwise are not well informed. I am an internal auditor in my institution
So how about the arrears sir?
When are they going to pay it?
Re: Has Any Federal Civil Servant Received The New Minimum Wage? by Jakend: 3:45pm On Mar 17, 2020

Re: Has Any Federal Civil Servant Received The New Minimum Wage? by dollext: 3:49pm On Mar 17, 2020

With this calculation, it means folks will be collecting much less than what they collecting pre minimum wage increase...

Isn't this deceitful....?

Hahahahaha. The thing done tire me seriously. Don't know which one to believe, even though most of us, had no kobo added to our salaries here in Universities.
But the payslip will explain better.
My concern is even the arrears, no one is giving us genuine information about it or seem to know what is happening about it.
Though I believe we will soon have the truth known.

Two different stories. I don't even know which to believe. One story said it is because of tax deductions that made salaries drop, what about those persons that got increase of almost 30k? Were they exempted from taxation?

IPPIS is running a test with people's salaries. This my country sha.

They said they want to pay minimum wage arrears, fine. But how do we know how much they are suppose to pay with all the many irregularities in the salaries?

I can't even calculate how much is the tax I paid that collected a huge amount from my salary. Then, how do I calculate how much was added as minimum wage and how much will be paid as arrears?

So many questions to be answered by IPPIS.

20% deducted from salaries for what? That's very not okay.
