The bolded is untrue.

What do you know, I challenge you to do a bit of research on it

I don't need to. Since you know everything, when you make mind-boggling untrue assertions like this, you need to provide evidence. If you say that the UK government doesn't recognise collateral relations as family, state the basis on which you are making that assertion.

Yes is the answer, it doesn't matter whether you are going to visit the person or not, you don't have to use IV from the person, you can use hotel booking . They have it on record already that you know someone in the U.K., yes it's 10yrs ago but that doesn't remove the fact that you know someone.

Thank you for this response because i have been observing the way the question is being misinterpreted.
The answer is YES to the question because he had already said yes in his previous application.

Holiday isn’t advisable right now, what’s the point of the visit when countries are shutting down. Just wait until the whole situation is calm.

Really difficult to understand why people are completely misinterpreted this simple question.

People, who has used the Priority service @ TLS? Is it faster? (the TLS process I mean). Is it worth the N42k?

I already submitted my application March 2, couldn't make the appointment I booked for March 11 and now there are no free dates until March 23/24th. I'm quite reluctant to pay the N42k.

This is not the time to travel. Especially tourism purposes. There’s no tourism u want to claim to be doing right now as the world is battling Coronavirus. Countries are closing up their borders the world over. save your money.
Your health and safety should be of utmost importance.

Meanwhile for your safety, non-essential travel is not advised sir. WHO has also mentioned this. It is for your safety even though you won’t get visa sha grin

Hello. Let me try to advise you here. First off, UK is not part of the EU; so our boarders are not closed but UK is somewhat leaning towards the same border closure. My in-law came in on Sunday albeit it was a spouse visa and not tourist visa. Nevertheless we are not in the peak of it yet in the UK, hence tighter measures would be introduced. My mum due to travel to Nig for 2 weeks over Easter has had to cancel the trip for fear of being stuck in Nig.

As of today, there is social distancing. People are advised to work from home if possible. We are strongly advised against global travel. Yesterday, the advise was for people to avoid clubs, pubs and cinemas. Less people are commuting to work or for other activities.

Remember, the onus to convince the ECO is ultimately up to the applicant. The most crucial in a visa application is the intended purpose of the travel which must be weighed against many odds. The ECO, amongst many other factors, considers the social economic situations of home countries and destination countries. This virus pandemic is global as recognised by WHO. However, someone on this platform still secured their UK visitor visa even when the institution had postponed the course for which the applicant applied to undertake owing to coronavirus.

You have to weigh the odds. It is a judgment call. The burden of convincing the ECO is greater now and the likelihood of doubts upon scrutinising an application is high also. If it was a settlement visa to join (not visit) a family member, then an application would be scrutinised less than an application for a visitor visa for just tourism given the present circumstances.

What is my advise then? If the intended visit is to come and cool off and experience the West, then put a hold on it for now.

Re: General UK Visa Enquiries - Part 4 by Oggg: 4:31pm On Mar 17, 2020
If u are eco sef, will u give anyone holiday/tourist visa at this moment? Every country is trying to protect themselves and so many people with lockdown now. My sister had plab 2 exam in uk for tomorrow, this morning they just told them the exam wont hold again . Say they will think about it from july.
This is someone who has spent so much and had a legitimate reason to be there still dey say no everyone no exam for now. All the money paid for return tickets, for accommodation and all. Time wasted too.
This is because since this Monday 16th March things have become more serious, covid 19 cases are multiplying.

Any person looking at things critically shud know this doesnt look lyk appropriate holiday timing .. why do u think eco will not consider all these factors? Like corona is on, why do u wnt to come to my country? Pls stay in ur location sort of thin.
Also eco knows there is a possibility of lockdown. If they give u visa and u enter now, when they lockdown you cnt go back to ur country until things settle.. so this is not the time for such
No wonder Canada said only citizens and permanent residents will b allowed now. Anyother person dnt come. This is my opinion

Option 1: Perhaps contact TLS for advice.
Option 2: If short term tourist visa, perhaps cancel the application and request refund. (Then apply again later).
Option 3: If long term (2 years+) visa, if your reasons are strong enough, you can still apply including in a new cover letter reasons for applying now and an idea of when you will want to travel eventually. Don't know if the ECO will be convinced sha, but if you are applying for two years visa, you must know why you need it.

Don’t cancel your appointment, you aren’t really a tourist, “you are going to visit your family. As long as the border is still open, you are free to go visit your family.

By the way, anyone going on tourism should just cancel it because this isn’t the time to be socializing.

I applied for a UK tourist visa recently. My time line are:
Application submitted.... Feb 12
Biometric Appointment.... Feb 24
Application transferred to UKVI.... Feb 24
Mail acknowledging receipt by UKVI--Mar 2

Today is 18days after Biometric. No mail for conclusion or that decision have been reached by UKVI or TLS.
Or
The process has been suspended due to Coronovirus pandemic.
I just need to know what exactly is going on? No communication whatsoever and my passport is in their custody.
How do I clarify what is the status of the application.
Please advice my fellow forum mate, what should I do?
