FG Issues Travel Ban On 13 Countries Over Coronavirus by Ravon(op): 11:00am On Mar 18, 2020

The Federal Government has issued a travel ban on 13 countries over the spread of the Coronavirus.

The Government of Nigeria is restricting entry into the country for travelers from China, Italy, Iran, South Korea, Spain, Japan, France, Germany, the United States of America, Norway, the United Kingdom, Netherlands & Switzerland.

These are all countries with over 1,000 cases domestically.

The Federal Government is temporarily suspending all visas issued to nationals from these countries. Nigerians arriving from these countries will be subjected to supervised isolation for 14 days.

The Government is also advising all Nigerians to avoid travel to these countries. These restrictions will come into effect from Friday 20 March 2020, for 4 weeks, subject to review.

Excellent development.

Furthermore, more standard & well equipped isolation & treatment facilities should be built across the country, otherwise if the situation deteriorates to the level of community transmission, it's gonna be a medical tsunami with our current level of preparedness.

This measure was long overdue. Sensible governments have taken the step along time ago. Anyways, it's a good measure taken.

Just yesterday,same FG said they will not restrict travels of these affected countries

for countries like US, Canada and some European countries, even if 90% of the countries are infected with Corona, Nigerians will still apply for Visa to those countries and still over stay.
