Confirmed.

Will you like to be infected so as to receive optimal care? You get to eat any food of your choice.

These cases arose as a result of not closing border.

The problem with Nigeria is that we never plan we are also reacting instead of taking initiative like other countries. EU are still biting their fingers for not reacting early, yet we still allow people from high risk area to come and go as pleased.

Seeing what is going on in Italy and for EU to put their country on lock down this is not a joking matter.

In fact our best option would have been to close borders and take it from there. Now that we have enough cases quarantine is not going to be effective in Nigeria.. Majority of the population work in the informal sector, how in health are we going to keep them indoors for a considerable number of days unless we declare state of emergency and place 24 hours curfew.

Please those people with big brains on the forum should come forward with their take on this matter.
You have said it all. No amount of big brain can resolve an issue borne out of foolishness and alack of desire to plan.
The country does not have a functioning health system pretty much like every other thing. In those other countries many employees work from home. There is the facilities for that
Those whose business were affected or cant work or were laid off have measures in place for their welfare

No death case in Nigeria. But how come it's being reported Nigeria has 1 death case?

We cannot lock down this country unless the Nigerian government is willing to pay people a percentage of their earnings.

The UK is paying 80% of people's salaries to keep them at home...that's a Kingdom with a working system.

It's a good thing that APC and Buhari have no Jonathan to blame anymore.

These magas in government knew how populated Lagos is and refused to impose travel restrictions early enough.

It is a sad situation we can't pay anyone. I suspect the reason international movement of people were not initiated was because it will affect the rich. Now they are closing the airports because apparently they can't fly anywhere there usually destinations are not allowing air travels from abroad.

I feel sorry for the poor because Covid 19 in the case of Nigeria is rich people gift to the poor. The poor can't travel abroad to contract it.

For the past few days I have been advocating social distancing on Nairaland but no one is listening. Mods refused to put the thread I opened on it on frontpage. Guys, we need to practise social distancing if we are to survive this thing I swear.

Watch and listen to Will Smith talk about why Social Distancing is key to containing the spread of Corona Virus. This is a MUST WATCH!!!

While this sounds logical, its impracticable in Nigeria. It means you don't enter public transport, you don't go to work, market, church.

Its the Apocalypse, people!

This time, its not film but real. shocked

The painful part of this pandemic is that in Nigeria case it is the rich that brought this disease to Nigeria. The poor can't feed well let alone traveling abroad or being in the same space with those having it abroad. Now everyone is going to suffer for it.

Nigeria is nowhere nearly prepared for a global crises such as this at a collectively or national level, not even at state level. I think it's up to us citizens at an individual level to practice social distancing and other safe practices to curtail this virus

One of buhari's numerous achievements

He is on a mission to make it 1 million confirmed cases before the end of this month when he stupidly, foolishly and intentionally left open our borders for coronavirus

I promise him, he will not be left out together with all his children and his zombisifed urchins that brought him to power.

Stay safe people!

Yes, for now. They can't be allowed to endanger the lives of the rest of us. Everyone should stay where they are till the thing is contained. It may sound harsh but that's the only practical way to contain the spread.

True. I agree. People should avoid travelling during this period.

Nigeria government should have locked our airspace long before now. Brace yourselves guys, this thing has already spread beyond what you can imagine. Na lack of enough testing still dey hide the real number of Nigerians that have already been exposed. sad

Social Distancing is the way forward people.

Na case we just dey confirm up and down. No casualty as a result of Covid19.

Its a known fact that flu which we blacks naturally dust off our bodies kill Caucasians anyhow. Lost a Swedish friend to just common cold oh.

We have nothing to panic about. Just continue practicing good hygiene. It has to be continuous though even after the end of the pandemic.

explain that please
Haven't you heard of some Nigerians who contracted the virus in Nigeria?
That the other family members of the FIRS man tested negative now doesn't mean they'll remain negative, as long as they were significantly exposed. The incubation period of the virus is about 14days, and a few people have tested positive beyond this 14 days incubation period. A single test is not sufficient.

Wow. We are beginning to see an exponential increase in cases. It is quite likely that there are many more cases that have not been tested yet. In a country with 190 million people, if we have tested less than 100 cases, how can we be sure that thousands of others have not been infected?

Fear dey catch you? #LOL

Whoa!!!

I'm now truly worried. I've been following the Virus outbreak since the very early cases China. The very first dose of its potential seriousness was when it eventually found its way to Europe. Italy and most European countries couldn't contain it. The UK's own inability to effectively manage the spread of the virus tells every informed persons that the this
Is a REAL PROBLEM.

A country like the UK had all the heads up it could ever have needed but watched almost helplessly as 1 case became 2, 4, 8, 16, and so on.

Nigeria, like most 3rd World countries can't possibly have the resources and organization to manage such a situation which countries like the UK are struggling with. Hence, our measures should have Been more drastic and pragmatic.

When European countries where playing football matches in empty stadiums, we should have started quarantining all incomings from overseas into our shores for the prescribed 14 days. Incomings from Italy should have been totally suspended.

When they started considering suspending sporting activities, we should have closed all our land borders and Sea borders. Incomings from the airport can still be monitored easily so can be left operational, But the 14 day quarantine must be enforced.

NOW, all that is useless. 10 confirmed cases is TOO MUCH for us and way above our league to handle. Because we all know the actual cases in Nigeria IS ACTUALLY going to be more around the region of 50 already.

If we can't conduct a credible census for humans is it a census for a virus we'd get right?

I suggest the government approach the news of these 10 cases like it just received that of 1000 and take their most drastic measures. It's better for the government to exaggerate their response and then underestimate the situation.

It's just yesterday I was made to understand this virus didn't occur naturally, but a failure of laboratory activity in China.

If that is the case, I still dont understand why the global economic migrants remained quiet about the failure of an almighty China, rather, their energies are directed to Buhari for several reasons on same virus.

Why some people so hit by complex that they can even insult the hell outta their parents because of oyibo?

I shared the same sentiments before I considered that closing the border couldn't have solved the problem totally as the borders couldn't be shut against our citizens.

Now that the borders are shut, Nigerians in diaspora should just be less selfish and stay wherever they are at the moment until the situation normalizes.

And then, the unfounded talks about Corona not being able to survive in Nigerian weather encouraged a lot of Nigerians abroad, who felt threatened by Corona, to come back to Nigeria so as to enjoy the purported "immunity" that our weather confers on us.

Says who?
The borders can be shut against anybody.
