Could anyone there help me out. I recently bought a MB C240 4matic, I was using it quite ok. I came to realize that sometimes the gear will stuck on the 3rd, without changing transmission. I have to switch it off completely, and on again before it works normally again. I took it to the mechanic which he recommend a flush out of the gearbox and a change of the filter and a new transmission oil, which I did. The problem still persist up till now. This is a car I bought and starting to love. And now this. Pls someone should help recommend what next to do. Thanks.

best oil to use is liqui moly top tec 1600. Quite pricey

Like Odubee told us that year (C200 kompressor Red top 2001 -2002).But that's like 18 to 20 year old now.But if you don't mind extra fuel cost just close eyes buy 2005 C320 and your life will never remain the same.

Why are u not considering the C240's, C280's and the C320's?

Naturally aspirated engines and V6 with more hp and great fuel efficiency.

The 272 engines are good but the 06s and parts of the 07s, as they are plagued with the balance shaft problems.
This one you claim is 87k mile may still have that issues, because it shows its ugly head between 60k to 100k miles.
A VIN decoder will help you find out if you are within the affected range ie engine serial number.
Also a VIN check can also help determine if the previous owners had fixed this problem.

Cam magnets and intake manifold are other things to consider .

Top Tec 1600 is available at 8k5 per liter.The lower 1800 is 4k but i have seen first hand what that can do,It cleans all dirt from the gear and the shifting becomes seamless.Great products for Mercedes .

I can't go beyond 60mph, my steering vibrates at that point until it gets down to 59mph. What could be the cause?

Secondly, I also noticed some sort of smoke which normally comes up once in a while, especially when I start the engine. On the long run it disappears as if nothing ever happened.
I met my mechanic and I explained the situation to him. So he said the valve seal is responsible.

Please I need your assistance on both issues.
