Abeg, I picked some snails after the last rain in Lagos, but I don't know how to prepare them, can anyone help out with how to arrange them for a meal?

Also, those that dish out food, then put the stew beside it, mbok, is it that you always prepare a lot of stew?
(I'm asking cos I feel if you put stew that way, the stew you prepared will get finished quickly)

-Pull the snail out of the shell with a knife, fork or any sharp pointed object. Don’t forget to remove that plastic like membrane.

-Wash with lime/lemon/vinegar/alum/garri/salt. Make your pick. The goal is to get the slime off.

You can put alum in hot water and parboil the snail. That will get most of the slime off, you just wash a little, rinse and move to step2.

What do you wanna use it to cook?

-Soup? It will be as easy as steaming it halfway into cooking your edibles. Randomly picked snails are usually small, in addition to their soft nature. You don’t want it too soft.

-You wanna do peppered snail? Jumbo snails are better for this. Season your snail minimally and cook it. Snails catch seasoning real fast and could get too salty/over seasoned if you are not careful.

Chop your choice ingredients; bell pepper, rodo, onions, garlic, curry leaf...etc. Sauté them in vegetable oil on low heat, season, add you snail, stir. Serve with chilled beer and invite Blueraydick.


How much stew you consume depends on how much stew you scoop per serving, not where you place it. It is about presentatîon for me. If it doesn’t look good, smell good, prepared in a neat kitchen/environment- I wouldn’t eat.
