From a personal point of view, I think it's better you pay the tithe and manage with whatever left you have. I make sure I pay my tithe first before settling other stuffs cos they'll always be there, there will always be things to spend money on. However, I've also skipped paying tithe at times, but I do make sure I pay it back when the next paycheck comes (it's actually bad tho) God first!. And if you surely believe in the blessings attached to tithing, you can pay it and leave it all in God's hands. He'll take care of you.

Tithe is not to be given at your convenience, it doesn't have anything to do with abundance or scarcity rather it's a spiritual obligation as a Christian. How will you feel if your employer tells you that your salary will be postponed!
