Re: Can I Postpone My Tithe Till Next Payment? by EngrOnah: 1:34pm On Mar 26, 2020
BEFORE YOU TITHE, YOU NEED TO UNDERSTAND THE MEANING OF TITHING!

"And thou shalt truly tithe all the increase of thy seed, that the field bringeth forth year by year.
And thou shalt EAT BEFORE THE LORD thy God, in the place which He shall choose to place His name there, THE TITHE of thy corn, of thy wine, and of thine oil, and the firstlings of thy herds and of thy flocks; THAT THOU MAYEST LEARN TO FEAR THE LORD THY GOD ALWAYS...
At the end of three years thou shalt bring forth all the tithe of thine increase the same year, and shalt lay it up within thy gates: and the levite (because he hath no part nor inheritance with thee,) and the stranger, and the fatherless, and the widow, which are within thy gates, shall come, and shall eat and be satisfied; that the Lord thy God may bless thee in all the work of thine hand which thou doest." (Deuteronomy 14:22-29)

"And the priest the son of Aaron shall be with the Levites, when the Levites take tithes: and the Levites shall bring up THE TITHE OF THE TITHES UNTO THE HOUSE OF OUR GOD, to the chambers, into the treasure house." (Nehemiah 10:38)

The scriptures revealed three categories of tithes:
1. The yearly tithes
2. Three yearly tithes
3. The tithe of tithes

The yearly tithes is taken to the temple in Jerusalem by the tither. If Jerusalem is far from his house, he is to convert the tithes into money. When he gets to the temple in Jerusalem, the tither is not to give the money to anyone. In Jerusalem, the tither is commanded to use the tithe money to buy any food of his choice, which he takes to the temple. The tither then eats his tithe in God's presence and gives a portion from it to the Levites, the widow, the poor and the fatherless.

The three yearly tithes is gathered within the tithers own gate. The tither then invites the Levites, the widow and the fatherless to eat with him within his own gates.

The tithe of tithes is the 10% portion of the tithes from the yearly and three yearly tithes which is given to the Levites. It is the Levites who take the tithe of tithes from the portion they received from God's people to the storehouse in the temple- that's the priests portion.

"Will a man rob God? Yet ye have robbed me...in tithes and offering... Bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be meat in mine house..." (Malachi 3:8-10)

The purpose of tithes is that believers may learn to fear the Lord and put God first in their life.

The people of Israel observed tithes by eating the yearly/three yearly tithes with the Levites and the poor as commanded by the Lord.
However, the Levites who were commanded to take 10% from their portion to the temple for the priests' upkeep were not doing so. Hence God was angry with the Levites and told them they have robbed Him in their tithes...

Taking tithes to God's house is not to take money to the Levites or priests in the temple, rather its to take food/produce of your labour to the temple and to eat it before the Lord and to give a portion of it to the Levites and the poor.
The tither always eat from the tithes and then distribute the rest to the Levites and the poor.
Its the Levites who give the tithe of tithes (10% of their own portion) to the temple storehouse, so that the priests who are the direct descendants of Aaron could have a share. That's the proper tithing as shown in the scriptures.

WE DON'T TITHE IN THE NEW COVENANT, BUT WE GIVE!
"And that He died for all, that they which live should not henceforth live unto themselves, but unto Him which died for them, and rose again." (2Corinth 5:15)

In the old testament, the Israelites could tithe because they had possessions. Hence, 10% is given to God as shown above and 90% is kept for themselves.

However in the new covenant we cannot tithe because all believers are priests under Christ the great High Priest. Priests don't give tithes!
As priests we are forbidden from having any possession or inheritance: God alone is our possession, portion and inheritance.

What this means is that we are possessors of nothing but stewards of everything that we have.
So we are to give freely, willingly, according to our own ability as God has prospered us...

tithing is different from giving.tithes are purposely brought to church not for alms biko.it is GOD who has instituted it not man."bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse that there may be meat in my house and prove me now herewith, saith the LORD of hosts......(malachi 3:10a)

Emancipate yourself from mental slavery.
Don't be a fool for the rest of your life.
Keep your money and use it for yourself and those who need to be helped. Sad

Coming to public to ask such a question mean you are mocking and insulting Pastor in the house

I wish you would have shut your advice from seeing the light of the day instead of letting it out in great ignorance. A real tither does not go by convenience on it's real sense of it. Moreover, it is sin as a child of God to spend your money "any how" because all that you have is God's. You surely give account of it.

Bros OP you stated that you already had debts on ground before the salary came. Please do note that, TITHE should be one of the debts.

Which simply means you already knew you'ld be paying your tithe before the salary came.

It's even best you pay your tithe and forget about any other debt......because your tithe can make way for you to pay other debts!!!!

You do not need to know or have an idea of how it will happen. If only you will believe.

God speaking in the book of Malachi regarding tithe, he said try me and see if I will not open the windows of heaven.....

My brother forget about human thoughts and just remember only the promise of your creator which says...TRY ME AND SEE!!!!

In addition, it is not TITHE unless you find it very TIGHT to pay, which makes it a sacrifice. And need I remind you that God takes even the most minute sacrifice very seriously.

Mumu man... Because you don't pay tithe doesn't mean others paying it are daft. However, some of us has seen God working in usual ways in our lives that giving Him back 10% of what he gave us looks so cheap. Nobody forced me to give, I give because I believe in it.

If I can freely give to others, I wonder why it's a crime to give to God.

tithes is no compulsory. don't put yourself in a terrible financial situation because you practice giving under compulsion.

God knows our situation. he knows our best and what we can afford to give him.
he demands we give him our best.

there is no evidence that Jesus or any of the earlier Christians collected tithe.
they were only practicing free giving not giving under compulsion

My advice is put God's first then every other debt will be settle.malachi 3v9 do not robbed God his 10%..He gave you the job fa.

So why are you not faithful. However if you chose to owe God and shift till next month, other debts and expenses will have been invited by you...pls run for devourers and honour Godvwith your tithe not even your firstvsalry tithe...please leave everyone saying you should not pay your tithe, everyone has his opinion and in life what you dont know seniors you..Your tithe shows that its not by yourpower but God.it brings favour and blessings which money can not buy.

Have you seen a situation where people spend millions to get a particular gift and when it comes to you they give you freely.
