Let me give this example on the relationship with CNN and glo/dangote. An example that will put an end to the argument.

The days when NTA used to show world cup matches, AIT gets broadcast signal from NTA. NTA in turn gets signal from sky sports in the UK or maybe beIN sports in Doha, Qatar. At the end of first half or full time, NTA will show am advert of indomie noodles, wema bank, OK pops, premier soap or dano milk . AIT on the other hand will let's say advertise Chivita, gala, Omo detergent, peak milk etc.

So you mean to tell me the omo detergent AIT is advertising is coming from NTA or the indomie noodles NTA is advertising is coming from the UK or Qatar? Are viewers in UK and Qatar also seeing adverts of indomie, wema bank and gala ? . Same applies to DStv and CNN. The globacom and dangote advert you're seeing is coming from DStv and not CNN.

CNN has different markets. The adverts you see are based on the region you are watching CNN from. If you are in South Africa, you will see mainly adverts of South African companies.

From a South African who watches CNN on a regular basis - what you just said is not true.Even here in South Africa when we watch CNN all we see is adverts of Nigerian companies the OP mentioned.At one point I used to think that Americans are advertising Nigerian companies for free because they are eying the oil in Nigeria.

Targeted ads bro.. it's for the African viewers. If you're viewing from Europe or Asia, you will not see such depending on your satellite provider.......

You are late to the game. We already concluded that all of Africa is bunched together as one region with Europe and middle east. So if you see those ads in South Africa, they are targeted at the African market mainly. someone watching CNN international in India, another English speaking country would not see those ads. The point is CNN international ads are regional!

Though it true that adverts are divided between International or National companies like CNN and local stations even in Europe and America, it does not justify the amount of hard currencies Nigerian businesses spend on CNN in South Africa, Europe and America.

It is even worse when you realize most of them do not make money in Europe and America.

So why do they do it? The African businesses would tell you they are looking for foreign investors in their companies. We know what that means in Nigeria. They are looking for money Launderers.

Foreign companies do it to change your taste as they do in their own countries where they make profits and keep it there.

In Nigeria, they change your taste like noodle generation, dominate the market and take the money out. Otherwise, you are not a good place to do business. If they and Nigerian businesses cannot take out their humongous profits, you are a socialist country.

Why do you think we declare Free Trade Zone for them or give them free land?

Even American communities are waking up. They drove Amazon out of New Jersey after it decided to build there. They drove another Football franchise (the one they play with hands) out of Atlanta or so and other cities rejected them.

Advert performance is measured and I'm sure they are getting some bang for their bucks or they won't be advertising.
