Good evening everyone. My junior sis scored 311 in the just concluded UTME. She initially chose UI as her choice of institution. The thing is, my dad is scared as he doesn't want her score to waste (he's online and has been seeing a lot of mad scores and reading sad stories of previous UI aspirants). He's suggesting she change to a less competitive school. She has O'Level: B2, B2, B3, C4, C6. From kogi.
I need advice on this pls. Thanks
EBSU is the solution. Those medical students of Kogi State University numbering about 20 were absorbed by Ebonyi State University when Kogi State University lost accreditation. It's a good state university. With 311, your admission is assured there. However, the school fee for non-indigenous medical students is N200,000 for first year students. If your father is capable financially, choose EBSU.

With 311 and this O'level there's quite a big chance she will make it into Udusok. Kogi is part of her well recognised ELD states.
Also if she can do better than 311 in ABU post utme, there is fair chance for her too - I learnt many Kogites are in ABU.
Have you guys consider UniMaid or ATBU? UniMaid is quite strong, I don't know much about ATBU tho.
In the west, I'd primarily suggest LASU. I have forgotten how the screening is calculated but there's no post utme - you can make enquiries about it as only O'level and Utme score is needed. ( since she's not a lagosian, I'll advise her to opt out if her screening aggregate is not in the north of 80%).
OOU is also a good school, one of the top state owned institutions with a good medical school, fees are kinda expensive but admission isn't too competitive.
UniMed, Ondo is also another choice, state owned and expensive too but admission isn't too strict here. I have no idea about this school current accreditation status.
EBSU, ESUT, UNIZIK are my top recommendations if you want to head Southern part of Nigeria.
I won't recommend UNN, UniBen, Delsu, OAU, Unilag, Unijos but if she wants to try any of them, she's good to go but I won't advice my sister to choose any.

Though a nice score, it is risky when it comes to UI(you'll be facing a very stiff competition). I had d same score last year and didn't get in, but a much better score this year.

@LamaNewton coming to UI, is one surest decision you can make, I believe you can easily pull a 75+ in UI Putme.

To everyone who scored between 280-310 Applying for Mbbs in South west Federal university.

You guyz should triple fold your reading effort above 320+ candidates, you really have greater work to do.

No one with 300+ will be careless to see it go down the drain.

In fact, someone who scoreed 320+ is no longer aiming for Mbbs admission, but aiming to break their school putme highest mark record.

I know 280-310 is a very great score, sadly, competition has reduce it to peanut.

And it keeps getting more competitive and bloody yearly.

To back up my claim, someone on this forum with 88% in putme, couldn't make it into UI Mbbs, because his Utme( 278) makes him 0.1 below the cutoff..

Very painful, so anyone one with less than 300, opting for UI Mbbs should please aim for 95% in putme.

We have seen 93%, the guy that had 90% in 2014 scored 240+ in Utme, so it is possible.

Let me drop a bad news, hundreds of 300+ mark wasted last year among UI Mbbs aspirants alone due to competition.

And I am sure it is same for many universities, your assignment is to make sure yours won't be part of the wasted 300+ this year.

Good day bro. I'm a U I student physiology 100 level. And 200 level on resumption. However I wrote this year Jamb and have 320. Though I choose UNILAG but I've realized that the score is not enough. Hence I'm thinking of Changing to U I .
1)How do I do it to avoid double matriculation.
2) How do I do it not to affect crossing in case U I want to allow many people to cross to MBBS This year.

Delsu post utme last year bleeped many up. Not that the questions were hard but many did not understand the format and what was expected of them to do. NLanders here complained about it - so I used last year as precedence and my yardstick for excluding her. Nonetheless, delsu is still a nice school. 296 for ebsu? I have no idea buy you can throw the question to the Ebsu guys here.

Yeah, I heard about the experience of last year...I even heard that they were not allowed to take in pencil or biro, the format is aptitude test. thanks bro.

DELSU is a very funny school, they are not organized.. they just employ and device methods to trick and delay students....in 2018 gossssh !!!! My computer for the CBT exam was sooooooooo slow .For 50 questions under 30 mins a slow computer I'll click and wait while my time is going for the next question to come up. Other halls had faster computers, the kind of speed u see while writing jamb That affected me badly as i wasn't able to ansa all. I had 10 questions left unanswered due to the speed of loading questions .2019 they conducted DE exam where no candidate was allowed to use Pencil or biro, just go empty handed into the hall to face 50 unknown questions. Turned out to be a lil bit of maths, confusing aptitude test included, (The person who set those aptitude questions must be from the devil. Each question
had abt 2 or 3 examples and the main question it self. The examples had different method of looking for a solution, two or three methods could give a solution to the examples , but not to the question wtf!! the answer is there nonetheless, it takes longer than necessary to decipher, too long in fact. And you have 0.6sec for each question
. English where you'll be given questions, nothing in italics or bolded. You'll have to decipher your answer from the options. At the end of the day DE cut off was pegged at 86. The next highest cut off for which was for pharmacy was pegged at 56. The general performance year was low. How'd dey arrive at 86 no one knows

What do you think about UNICAL?
cc: dunsin125. Make sure you're well informed before settling with delsu.

UI, Unilag, OAU are more about you meeting their cut off mark. These schools look at ŕesults before deciding cut off in such, they know how many they'd admit. I find OAU post utme trickier than Unilags. For DE, I think the max OAU admitted at a stretch is 28 - when she won't increase her quota.

Unimaid truly is not bringing down their fees soon. Although she's good and strong. I pray Udus doesn't increase her own - there is no money on ground. Unimaid admits heavily as their 1st +2nd batch admission list is over 7000. A friend got in this year with 299 (I heard unimaid audio merit is 275) but she also uses the same admission policy like UDUSok and ABU. By admitting just top scorers from merit States and a little bit of relaxation on catchments. By the way Udus has refused to admit via DE into MBBS, BDS, Mls, Nursing and Radiography this year. I don't know why.

BUK is only arguably for extreme bookworms as I've noticed. The lowest person I've seen got in with average of 319 or so. I don't know much about her DE. FUD, Jigawa is not yet accredited, I can't really advise someone to go there tho I saw someone screenshot of admission into mbbs with 220. ATBU is more easier to get in than BUK. Apart from Unijos being slow and reclusive, she's also another nice shot for MBBS.

UNN is connection and slot buying. Always over the counter with her admission. Then drastic cutting down. I heard the VC needs money. UNIZIK is realistically easier here. Uniport & Uniben are great too.

Lasu, Ebsu, Esust, OOU are nice and fast. Save for their fees that are kind of high. I'd advise anyone who doesn't want extra stress to choose any. Delsu should just say they don't want to admit and stop setting mad post utme. Lautech too is trying to catch up
I said it last year that UNN will over admit students then start drastic cutting down... My strong wishes are with those trapped in this menace, may you find the strength to continue when others are giving up. Falling or getting rejected isn't the end, it is the will to continue that matters.

1. I have a friend who did exactly what you did.

He was a student of biochemistry, UI, he deferred his admission immediately he saw his Utme result(328), and he afterward terminated his admission after putme (aggregate was well above 80).

As a result, there was no issue of double matriculation. If you need is whatsaap number, let me know, I will drop mine, you guyz can talk.

2. UI may not allow many crossing, don't rely on it.

Note this, the number of slot for crossing is determined by the number of people who left Mbbs in 100level.

In my set, just 1 girl left for America, hence, just 1 person was allowed to join us.

UI usually maximizes her slot (165) during admission, there is little or no room for crossing.

It's fairly easy to enter uniport as compared to other medical schools if she can replicate this performance in post utme
