I lost 100,000 in my zenith bank after I lost my phone. USSD transfer, paystack and NIBBS was revealed on the statement of account.
I reported to the police and sent a mail to the zenith bank complaint desk copied CBN. Police requested 10k to facilitate police report signed by court to extract information from the bank.
After several mails zenith bank promised to recall the unauthorized withdrawal.
Since December last year I have not seen a refund. A dispute form was opened for me sometimes in February.
Still hoping to get refunded. The bank blamed me for not stopping debit on my account after I lost my phone, but I was concerned about tracking down the perpetrators.
You can't blame a man for opening his door after being robbed instead find the robbers. The authorities should wake up to their task and secure funds.
Bottom line, I suspect insider job because I just left the bank when my phone mysteriously disappeared. I wouldn't have seen alert cause the phone is gone. I found out when I wanted to use the ATM. The banks should cooperate with the court and police so that the criminals can be brought to book. It is insider job because the transfer was not to individual bank account but NIBBS and paystack account. Top level transactions.
God help us all!

someone fraudulently gain access to my account last night 28TH March 2020 and performed a series transactions of N443,928.49 without my authorisation.

I have called StanbicIBTC customer care and the lady I spoke with told me they would disable the account and push the case to stanbicIBTC fraud unit. Luckily I was able to transfered remaining balance to my GTB account to prevent further debits (I only saw this at about 5am when I work up to pee and saw a single alert of about 6k which I guess was the first trial. The funny thing was thst the debit alert for others or the login notifications or OTp token request didn't drop in my phone Sms or email just the first 6k.

The debited money 400k+ is still being held in my account Ledger balance (see screenshot), please I will appreciate any assistance in recoverying the money. I had no reason to believe my money wasn't safe in my StanbicIbtc bank account.

Note: I rarely used this account apart for saving... I rarely use the atm on this account too. I usually transfer from this account to my gtb before withdrawing.

Bank say there is slim chance of getting the money, that even though the fund are still held in ledger balance they are as good as debited.

Do you want to get your money back?

. Do you have an ATM for this account? If yes where was your ATM when the transaction was made? If it was with you then it means your account details were compromised by the Stanbic staff with fraudsters ...It is shocking to see how some bank staff in Nigeria give account details to scammers so as to defraud customers. When they are less busy you will see them checking people s accounts nationwide.Recently I was called by a lady who wanted to defraud me too.She mentioned my name and transaction I made last from my account.A calculated scam..Please go to the bank again with your lawyer and threaten their management with legal action.Since your ATM was with you the bank MUST explain why your money was withdrawn without your knowledge. It is a conspiracy between the bank staff and the scammers.

Don't think so because it will have been withdrawn at once and no need for those decimal in the figures.

hope you didnt post your account number on nairaland like some dumb people are doing.

You guys should use your brains now. Where have you heard that account number is used to debit people's account?

That is how some of you would be covering the full ATM machine thinking you are protecting your pin meanwhile the ATM machine has a skimmer that would copy the ATM card.

Your account cannot be debited by just the account number otherwise no one would give customers their account details.

Your account cannot be debited with just your BVN. The BVN is an identity number.

Your account can be debited with your phone number. Your account can be debited with your ATM card number and Security. That's the only way to debit your account.

It is more important to protect your phone number than to protect your bank account number. Sim swaps are one of the major ways of stealing money in 2020.

You probably must have used your card details on a fraudulent website where your card number must have been stolen.. or probably clicked on a phishing email which extracted your card details. The debit narration shows transactions were done online outside the country.. pls report it . bank might be able to savage something.. best of luck

Before you suspect the bank, look around you.

Are you staying with some people, is your phone password or not and if its password, does anyone know your passcode.

You can start to ponder on how possible that transaction could happen within you cuz its possible someone close to you debit your account at the middle of the nighte when you sleeping and probably get the OTP on your phone to carry it out successfully and delete the sms so you won't suspect an insider within your environment...

And also bank can track the POS used to debit you so there's a big chance of getting the culprit...

Walk to the bank first thing tomorrow morning and get a statement if account stamped and signed. If the money was transfered to any account, get a court order from court to place restriction on the account your money was transfered to.

Also write to tour bank via email and copy the bank of the beneficiary as well as central bank attaching your statement of account and court order (if you get one because of the lockdown) and request that your bank E-fraud unit take action a d give you a feed back.

shey abi you no day see pos transaction for shopping there? transfer to which account keh? shey the benefactor name sound like Nigerian to you?
oya go and contact Mexican bank na...

Money left the ledger balance this morning after about 24hrs of reporting to the bank

If I were you, write a letter petitioning the commissioner of police stating everything as it happened.

Ledger balance shown, ledger balance withdrawn, by the time the manager is arrested, he will act fast so you get your money back.

Banks are legal thieves like politicians. They debit and try your will power.

Clearly an inside job. Been using that account for years locally and internationally. Had a breach when I contacted my account officer from US. Different transactions were carried out several times a day. I got to see alerts days later when I checked my roamed naija line. I immediately moved the balance to a friend's account. I called and reported several times....nothing was done! God, Nigeria is a waste of a country angry

That's why you need two accounts. One with card and the other with cheque book. If you search DW you will see Chibuzo and other Nigeria names, you just have to be careful no security in Nigeria banking system. There are payments gateway in Nigeria that fails to use OTP sometimes

I had a similar experience with GTB. I use a hardware token. Never have I disclosed my PIN to anyone. Card was in my wallet the whole time the transaction was taking place. I only got to know when I got debit alerts. Instantly, I dialled *737# to at least salvage what was left... All to no avail.
I contacted the bank, was directed to contact their fraud desk where i was given a form to fill.... After about 3 months I got a FULL refund and was advised to get a new card since the old one has been blacklisted.
I got to know that, when transacting with foreign merchants, an OTP isn't required to complete the transaction. Just the 16 digit of your card is enough.

Op, dont mind what people are saying. No Insider job.
Happened to me after my phone was stolen.
I just got an otp email notification when i didnt input any transaction. Next multiple debits, foreign transactions. Called gtb to block my account and filled dispute form. Not heard from them till today.
My advice, always keep your money in your savings account t and only transfer to current when u want to use it
