I knew from the start that there will be one kind of unfaithfulness in this corona testing of a thing Nigeria is one kind of a country that until corona kill all the bad leaders no one will think of the right thing to do |

My thought had just been substantiated by this post. Have been wondering why only the highly placed individuals that have been confirmed, has it become the rich disease in Nigeria? |

You can't blame them its transferred aggression from an ineffective system that frustrates and gives them nasty renumeration. Can you compare them to private hospital doctors? toffyz: |

Well! A real naija person won't be surprised by this development. During this corona season, for the common Nigerians, two things are involved: either you catch it or you don't catch it. If you catch it, two things are involved: either you get lucky, be tested and be treated as one of the "confirmed cases" or you are unlucky. If you are unlucky, two things are involved: either you obey and stay at home or you continue going about as an unintentional dispersal agent. In both instances, two things are still involved: you may develop symptoms and know that you have it without this official testing or you may just be divinely cured without showing any symptom, thereby not being counted in corona records. If you have symptoms, two things are still involved: if and when you reach the corona hospital, either you get admitted or you are told to wait in a long queue, that the hospital is already filled up and there is no space for you. If and when you finally get admitted, two things are still involved: with or without treatment, your condition either stays "stable" like those in the news or you will become serious and then require intensive care. If you require intensive care, two things are involved: the doctor decides whether you deserve to live and puts you on a ventilator or they simply become too busy to pay attention to you and asks you to wait. If they become too busy for you, only one thing will be involved: you will know exactly how many ventilators there are in your country and exactly who are using them at that moment. Then, you will remember God and begin to pray always if you hadn't been the powerful type. Prevention is better than cure. Stay at home. |

JamParkMe: The way some people sound on this forum baffles me. Unfortunately, over 100 people liked this. So simple explanation of the protocol wouldn't suffice? B4 someone who is schooled and resides in planet Earth decided to go for test, do you think he does not have cause? Who told you people are doing selective testing in UK and US? If you have reasons to be tested (which will be confirmed by a doctor who would professionally discuss with you), you will be tested. B4 someone will go through all these rigors just to get tested, do you think he is so jobless? Why is NCDC accusing Nigerians of not coming forth? Is there a higher level of unprofessionalism than the one displayed by these health officials? 2 Likes |

jeyselassie:bro i like to be practical. i driven around lately and from what i saw in the street, if this virus is real and in nigeria, i can assure u that half of the people in mainland are carriers. but for us not to be seeing symptoms, it means the virus is not really attacking our immune system for what ever reason. if by end of this 14 days lock down , we do not hear cases of deaths or serious sicknesses, then it means nigerians are immuned to this virus. |

whytepawn1: Please check again. I didnt put only travel history. Moreover i dont think they have the facility and manpower to check everybody. Patients have to be questioned by history taking and examined before being tested. Moving in and out of the hospital when you have no exposure or symptoms is also a form of exposing yourself. |

toffyz:Don't be that angry, if you were in their shoes, you would probably do same. It's no doubt that our health facilities are ill-equipped, over stretched and badly managed. These health workers you are seeing are working under a stressful condition. How will you feel if you you are given a task like fighting the spread of coronavirus and the facilities are short-supplied or not supplied at all? Is just like fighting a battle without the right weapon and you know how disastrous that could be. I am not saying that they are not without blame but when we are criticizing them, we should also look at it with a human face. Some of us are even worse in our workplaces than the doctors. We are quick to point out that of the doctors because it concerns life and death. We're all part of this system called the government. If we are all doing it right in our workplaces, I think there wouldn't have been room for all these criticisms. |

Re: Trying To Get Tested For Coronavirus By NCDC In Abuja: An Experience by gr8tone: 10:11am On Mar 30, 2020 |
toffyz:Good question. They do of course. The ethics and order from above, which one will you obey? Even if you would want to follow the ethics of the profession and the right working tools are not provided, you can't help it as doctor. Your life could be at stake. You can't fight corona without a good protection. Above 50 doctors and nurses lost their lives in Italy fighting Convid19. Some doctors and nurses in Abuja and lagos have been infected with the disease. The Government has messed up the whole thing and leave the doctors and nurses at the receiving end. |
