No surprise here.

The cases in Africa are low because we don't have enough testing kits.

When the virus was yet to get into Africa instead of our leaders to do the right thing they were busy forming we can handle it.

Now see our life.

The virus has crippled our economy
It has crippled our health system
The few doctors we have are overworked (some are in hiding)
Everyone is clueless including the president

Africa as a continent just tire me.
With or without testing kits there is no way thousands will be dying from the desease and we wouldn't have noticed it.

You need to go to the media this. Let our leaders if actually we still have know what is going on...let the people know...So that we can have people to hold responsible wen the country would be wiped completely..... God help us for our hope is in the name of the Almighty God.

[quotqe author=SinisterX post=87885451]Coronavirus: A Facebook User’s Experience Of Getting Tested In Abuja

ATTENTION: PRESIDENCY & FED. MINISTRY OF HEALTH

To tell you the truth, NCDC can't do anything for you because they are not ready.
All this PR they are doing they are assuming people will not try that's why.
On Wednesday (25/03/2020) I and a colleague of mine decided we want to be sure of our status before going into #selfisolation.

So we went through the following steps

1. We called the toll free line and after all the normal recorded stories, when we chose to speak to an agent they end the call.

2. We went to University of Abuja Teaching Hospital, Gwagwalada, they told us they don't do testing there, that the hospital is only an isolation center. They refer us back to NCDC office in town, told us that's where testing lab is.

3. We drove to NCDC office at Jabi. There are two NCDC offices there in close proximity. The first office told us they don't do testing but they directed us to the second office saying that's where testing is handled.

4. The second office too absolved themselves of that responsibility and directed us to NCDC National Reference Laboratory, Gaduwa.

5. We visited the NCDC NRL. On getting there, the security at the gate informed us that a lot of people were there too earlier in the day and were turned away. That they don't do testing for individuals unless your state took your sample and submit to them.

6.They refer us to a circular posted at the gate and told us to contact the FCT Epidemiology team lead on COVID-19.

7. When I called him I introduced myself by name and then asked him if he's the FCT team lead on this issue. He answered yes. I then asked him how do I go about getting tested. He asked who are you? Who gave you my number? I told him I'm an Abuja resident and his number is on a circular at the NCDC office. He told us he doesn't know. He said we should go to NCDC. I told him but they referred us to you. He was silent. I then asked him to advise us. He told us to go to "National Health Disease Control" which doesn't exist.

I will send a copy of the circular to this forum.

Obviously they are doing selective testing which is dangerous.

It means a lot of people might have been infected already but for lack of testing they are moving about infecting others.

While the information from the official channels are saying people are not coming forth, the truth is that people are going but are been turned away.

And I know because I was turned away first hand.

It also tells you that either the NCDC are lying to us or they are not coordinated at all. How will you explain three branches of the office each denying responsibility and pointing us to the next instead of just explaining to us the laid down procedures by the NCDC

Damnnnnn niggarrr

Isoright
Not only ncdc office can conduct the test

hospitals in Abuja, Lagos and Edo have the capacity to test for the virus
That gwagwaladar hospital nor want run am
Or rather let them set ncdc lab in each state

You obviously don't understand anything about the testing process.
Gwagwalada hospital cannot do the test.
Only NCDC labs for now can do the tests

That person seeking a test right now is an unserious fellow. They are only testing those with symptoms such as fever, cough and body aches who may have been exposed to an infected person. There are very limited number of testing kits to go around, so yes of course screening is selective. Even in America and Europe, they are only testing people with symptoms, so why did your friend think he can just get tested like that?

Help me tell this my fellow Nigerians..

Why go to offices to get tested yourself. Is that the laid down rule?

Do you want to get other people infected
Why wouldn't people do the right thing for once.

If you having symptoms u need to call and your samples would be taken.
Stay at home, don't move from Jabi to Gaduwa.

They wouldn't do the right thing and they will come here shouting foul.

Please kindly stay at home and observe yourself. Within your 14days if you show symptoms contact the relevant authority.

If you need numbers to call check NCDC handle

Nigeria health workers are one of the most harsh, hot-tempered, negligible, unethical, unprofessional set of people you can ever come across in the whole world.

What will it take them to explain to them the reason behind this...or perhaps calm them down by counseling them.

You will be blown away with the level of civility and compassion they will exhibit if they migrate to USA to work..

PS: If you don't have money please let covid-19 be just a hearsay to you and your family..

Don't be scared if you're not a member of the elites, nothing will happen to u...God gat ur back.

Here's a Prophesy, many politicians will die, Nigeria will start a progressive change not with the likes of Sowore but with new individuals not known in the corridor of power.

A young man from Delta State will rise to be more popular and a strong influencer on the political system of the country though he will not sit in Aso rock.

Trump will loose the next election

Nigeria will eventually be dissolved but not before the progressive change takes place.

Nnamdi Kanu is not the Messiah the Igbos have been expecting

Niger Delta will not be part of biafra

In addition to your prophecy, There may be a change in power in Aso rock sooner than we expect except there is a divine intervention through prayer.

Nigeria will rise again after this pandemic because people voice we be heard. The "five pillar" strong political dictator will be things of past.

Another pandemic will surface after this has gone.

Surprisingly, African (Nigerian) will lead the world to the cure of this coronavirus this just to show to the world the benefit of hoping on God as we all know we do a lot in Africa. This post will be a point of reference in time to come.

That useless minister of health that was telling us they wont close the borders should be demoted, arrested, flogged and then sacked without any pay.

Is that a reason for NCDC help desk not working?
What if the guy has symptoms or had had contact with an infected person and needed the test?

The boyfriend of a lady who tested positive shared a similar story. The lady just got back from UK and developed symptoms.
For three days, she called and called and called the NCDC help desk ... no response ! The boyfriend got angry and stormed the
NCDC Twitter page to embarrass them before they eventually showed up.

See, we're on our own in this country. These govt agencies are concentrating more in PR and sugarcoated speeches for them to look good.
Their staff are so lackadaisical !

A friend also experienced this today In Kwara. He has been showing symptoms of Covid19 since Wednesday. She called the Covid19 response number and was told to isolate himself and that help will reach him soon. That soon eventually happened after the person called someone that knows someone who now eventually sent one of their field officials to visit her house for testing.

Insincerity and lacklustreness is a huge problem in Nigeria.
