Based on your calculation, if Christmas 2019 is on December 25, then Christmas 2020 will be November 25 grin

What makes an anniversary is the eve of the occasion. If you are born on April 2, 2020, and pay rent same day, your rent expires April 1, of subsequent year depending on number of years you paid for e.g April 1 2021 for one year. By April2, 2021, you celebrate the start of another year. You out don't celebrate your birthday on March 2, 2021

@OP your landlord is right while you are wrong.

A calendar year is January - December not January - Jamuary

If you paid rent in April 2019, you next rent will be in March 2020.

Birthdays are different for those using beer parlour logic above.

Why you dey panic over this? You get receipt of the date of your payment ba and you collected receipt from the said landlord. Did you pay in cash, bank transfer or bank deposit ?

Please man up and ignore him, in fact no even argue with him or better still get a lawyer or contact tenants right project if you are in Lagos.

Do you have a receipt or agreement staying the period?

If you sue your landlord you might win the case but the aftermath relationship should be your concern. It should be a cordial relationship not cat and dog.

Brother, if you have the money now pay for the interest of peace and move on. If you don't have the money now , appeal to him to give you more time.

Your peace is more important than the fight .

It doesn't work like that. Your tenancy expires a day before the day you paid in the following year.

You don't just count months, what date of the month did the person pay?

If we go by your logic, if for example i payed my rent on the 30th of April so you are saying my next year rent will be due by 30th of march?

Then the following year it will be due by 30th of Feb huh

Your landlord is correct.
It's 12 months not 13
Count the months from April , May, June, July, August, September, October, November, December, January, February, March.
You we have 12 month.
If you count April again, that'll be 13

If you don't have any intention of leaving the house, pay him ASAP.
BUT if you do, you're entitled to 6 months extension with no payment.

Point of correction, if u paid 1st of April, ur rent expires 31st of March. So if u paid 18th of April then it expires 17th of April the following year. The day u pay a yearly rent, same day or a day earlier u renew it the following year

No you are wrong. The rent should expire a day to the anniversary. For example you pay for rent on the ist of January 2019 the anniversary is ist of January 2020 right? Then the rent should expire on the 31st of December 2019.
