So the president of a country being in the front lines is a commendable move?

Hello, if you truly know about leadership, you won't compose what you have up there. So if a confrontation happens and he is shot dead, what would be your conclusion.

Is he a combatant, Airforce or Naval officer. What skill does he have to be in the front lines?

So you expect MTN CEO to climb a Telecom mast when there is a major outage.

It's demoralizing, insult and ridicule to the Generals in his cabinet. And the same time and insult to his office to have appointed incompetent lots that had to warrant him to go to the frontlines.

We talking about a No 1 man in a country.

Your definition of leadership has been bastardized by the definition given by the weak men of today.

Go and check the history of a successful warring nation, their kings lead from the war front.

There is a difference between leading from the war front and leading in the war front.

He is leading from the war front, not in the war front.

We talking about the President of a Nation here being in the frontlines. That's not leadership but stupidity. He is not a combatant, Airforce nor Navy. Putting life at risk to such an extent is stupidity.

Only in Africa would you commend such. With all the experts at his disposal, he choose to go to the fronts. Let's imagine a shoot-out happens and he dies, will you say he died as a brave man?

Where is it done in any industry or terrain where a leader who lacks expertise and compentency in a division, take charge.

Like I stated earlier, it's just like applauding MTN CEO for climbing a 100 meter tower because their is a major outage.

It's outrightly stupidity. Nothing warrants him to be in the fronts.

Since you have decided to use the MTN CEO and the telecommunication mast; let us also use a husband and his wife with 6 children- 4 beautiful and well grown ladies with two boys. Imagine Arm robbers broke into the house and the husband decide to hide on the bedroom passing information through the wife to the robbers, what do think will happen to the 4 girls if care is not taken?
Talking abt not staying with the troops in the bush, who told you that the president stays there for a longtime?
2 days or 1 day is OK to boost the moral of the soldiers. Mind you this is internal war not external.
And who says the president take charge of the attack?
He is there for few hours to see for himself how things really work and if there is any major governance deficiencies with the infantry soldiers who are mainly those fighting this war then he can correct it .

That's what despots do,he is a soldier and fought many battles to get to where he is.

All the people saying Buhari should do same.Chad isn't Nigeria and both countries are totally different. If the Chadian president can shutdown government and go and sit in the bush hunting doesn't mean Nigeria can afford such irresponsible act.

Why not tell Trump to go to Afghanistan or Erdogan should go and sit at his country's border hunting Isis undecided

Who told you that he is not a combatant. He was once a general in army and had assisted many attack to combat insurgency,in northern Mali,Sudan and Nigeria. This is not the first time he is doing it. Going by his history he had archived many milestone in doing so.He is truly a leadership by example.

Hear yourself.

Ex military. This how you shoot yourself down in a debate. So an Ex military man should be in the frontlines of warfare.

Hello! It's not that way. Are you aware we talking about the No 1 man of a country? On any fronts you will take this argument to, his act will still be regarded as utmost stupidity.

Of you are intuned about leadership like I told your conterpart earlier, you won't be composing all this gibberish.

What is the use of his presence there? Don't tell me to boost morale. What are the roles and responsibilities of his Generals that he solely appointed based on his personal judgement.

I will say again, it's stupidity, his presence on ground alters nothing. He was just on a suicide mission.

As the president, he is the commander in chief of the armed forces. So what if he is an ex-military? He is currently the commander in chief, so yes, he is within his rights. And it's not like he comes to the battlefield every day. So please, stop being pessimistic.

Oga you have no point other than shouting he is number one man upandan.

You mentioned he isn't a Combatant, Airforce... or the likes, but dude just proved to you he's even an ex - General. That's enough bro.

And yes, he would be forever remembered for this selfless service whether or not he dies on the battlefield. Hence, Debby is a Hero already in that, this can't be regarded as stupidity/cowardly.

Try to read a little about the man Idriss Deby - this man was a rebel leader and an army general if you do not know. Even shekau the terrorist admitted that he had fought in several battles.

So why are you here crying and making senseless comparisons with MTN CEO? Are the military and corporate worlds comparable?

Your posts just show that you are not capable of clear and objective reasoning!

being at the frontline and not in his plush exotic presidential villa, will actually lift the spirit of his soldiers that they have a leader who understands and feels their pain , they will be willing to die for such a leader

You may be right with some points here. But you must admit that other people have their opinions and some are expressing it with clarity and focus. You should acknowledge that.

Now, you must realise that not all situations require the same approach or tactics.

Why keep a president Buhari in one tent on the fringes of Sambisa forest or the lake chad battle grounds with 500 soldiers and other security personnel because he wants to make some folks happy back in the comfort of their homes and motivate the troops. Sometimes such approach may not get down well with the experts planners of the battle strategy. If you trust your service chiefs, trust them and let them be! And if you don’t trust them then do the needful!

I have a brother who, once as a military officer in Liberia, led his boys to the battlefront, and in the thick of heavy gunfire his soldiers grabbed him off the floor, against his will, and spirited him off the front. Their excuse? “Oga, we can’t let you die in this battle. You are precious to us and we need you in this war.” I saw firsthand the camaraderie amongst him and his boys. No Officer, No Soldier. They are all brothers!

The point is will our generals advise President Buhari to come join them amidst the heavy gunfire even if he wanted to?

Terz4christ:

Stop being childish and emotional. There's nothimg about leadership that you know. That man wouldn't be there unless they were sure of his security, plus he is the C-in-C , if he thinks this is the right way to motivate his soldiers ,why is that your problem? Any leader who is not ready to risk his life for a cause is not worthy to be followed,as if you re not willing to die for anything ,you won't be able to live for anything. Your leaders are a good example. They like to lead from behind, thats y nobody is motivated.
Stop saying what you cannot explain,do you hear me?tankiu
Re: Idris Derby Visited By Chadian Legislators At His Temporary Base In The Forest by Asetua(f): 9:06am On Apr 08, 2020
You see that s the problem you want people to do everything as its done everywhere.
That should not be the case. The Chadeans have done what they think will work for them and people that think they have a say have started to make unnecessary analysis. Please Nigerians should keep there analysis because chadeans are having a measure of success.
Since your government is presently unsuccessfully you should show some respect and be quiet if you are not sincere enough to applaud the chadeans.
You may be able to analyse but we do not care about your analysis we want action and a measure of success.
