You don't know anything about true leadership. Leadership is also about moral busting of your followers n a way of getting first-hand info for better results. Remember that president derby fired his chief of army staff when Boko haram killed almost a hundred of their soldiers n after taken that measure, he came into the picture n today the results r seen. We live in a world where lies, propaganda n sabotage are the other of the day n for you to make progress as a leader, you need 1st hand info. If our president willl step up his game n creat an effective method of obtaining 1st hand info coupled with his ability to meet with these soldiers fighting this battle directly In order to get info n also encourage them himself, I tell u our soldiers will step up their game.

Unpredictability. Do not make the obvious move, and avoid leaving a pattern in your past activities. The enemy should not be able to identify what you will do in the future from what you did in the past. Do not take predictable routes, change your camp position . . . keep the enemy guessing.

Leading By Example. Always be there with your troops (but maybe not always at the front), be observable, and earn the respect of the soldiers by sharing their hardships. Sun Tzu uses various images here to back up his point that the commander is “with the troops.” The first image he gives is of the commander leading the troops up a ladder that is then kicked away, allowing for no return. Alternatively, the army is represented as a great herd of animals moving as one with the leader in the center directing them all in a way that cannot be predicted from the outside. Be with the troops in all dangerous situations, but remain unknown to the enemy.

Responsibility. As leader you must confidently assume responsibility for the whole force. Be at the center of everything and use your troops in the most efficient way with the best results.

We talking about the President of a Nation here being in the frontlines. That's not leadership but stupidity. He is not a combatant, Airforce nor Navy. Putting life at risk to such an extent is stupidity.

Only in Africa would you commend such. With all the experts at his disposal, he choose to go to the fronts. Let's imagine a shoot-out happens and he dies, will you say he died as a brave man?

Where is it done in any industry or terrain where a leader who lacks expertise and compentency in a division, take charge.

Like I stated earlier, it's just like applauding MTN CEO for climbing a 100 meter tower because their is a major outage.

It's outrightly stupidity. Nothing warrants him to be in the fronts.

May be you don't know, he was a military officer before staging a coup to become head of state.

He is a war tested military general with a lot of years of experience.
Do yourself a favour by reading his profile.

what does protecting lives have to do with leading troops into war? people should try and talk with sense. if you say he should have sacked the man in charge, I will agree, if you say he should have sacked Burutai, I will agree but which one is going to war himself? If he does you are the same ones that will complain he has generals and he should come back and run the country.

Same way you can google Muhammadu Buhari and then tell us about his pedigree. He is also a retired general and a civil war veteran. He was also General Officer Commander heading a division. Read about the exploits of this man.

justlykdat:

I beg to disagree with you. Idris Derby is a retired military officer so he knows his onion.....go search on google who he his read his biography you will see his pedigree.

So the president of a country being in the front lines is a commendable move?

Hello, if you truly know about leadership, you won't compose what you have up there. So if a confrontation happens and he is shot dead, what would be your conclusion.

Is he a combatant, Airforce or Naval officer. What skill does he have to be in the front lines.

So you expect MTN CEO to climb a Telecom mast when their is a major outage.

It's demoralises, insult and ridicule to the Generals in his cabinet. And same time and insult to his office to have appointed incompetent lots that had to warrant him to go to the frontlines.

We talking about a No 1 man of a country.

why are u seeing things upside down

common goan get education and read more about leadership styles instead of citing irrelevant analogy.

The Art of War. I don’t think our generals know how to win battles or wars.

War is very expensive to sustain. A sound general takes note of this and moves to end a war as quickly as possible. A general that sees an opportunity to deal a great blow on the enemy(win the war) and hesitates, lacks human empathy and this act is seen as an act of inhumanity to the people.

Reason: the resources used in sustaining a prolonged war will be drawn from the people’s purses(taxes and levies).

Our so called generals are either not worthy to be called generals or are just plain corrupt and wicked to have prolonged this war against Boko Haram for so long.

It’s not about going to the war front. But by taking measures that shows he’s concerned and boost the morals of the combatants. Did you see Debby shooting? But he just identified a way to boost his army morals and get their effeciecy. Now compare him to his neighbor that even his words demoralizes the people at the war front like him saying he doesn’t know the terrorists are still operating which means he doesn’t know his army are at the war front. Someone that doesn’t know people are at the war front, how do you expect him to fortify them with weapons? Even when the chief of army staff could open his mouth and say it’s no longer in their power but it is spiritual, what do you expect of the morals of the combatants at the war front? Or you compare the Chadian that went out to make his army know that their is no going back and no mercy for terrorists to the one that welcomes terrorists and treats them lavishly and leave his army dying at the war front. Now judge who is fighting terrorism.

When you finally have to prove that you came into leadership position to serve the people. Yes he still surrounded by his army and personal security.

And yes when insecurity occur at the border both countries have to take charge at the same time. Fight from both ends.

Hahahaha. Tell them o!
Some want to eat their cake and have it.

They forget that Chad lost 90 soldiers leading into the current surge. Were the soldiers sleeping or their C-in-C was wining and dining in the Villa in Ndjamena?
Or why hadn’t Idris Deby won the war before now?
GEJ spent his presidency with this nagging BH issue. He went back to Otuoke without a solution. They said the North wanted to mess him up with the BH matter. Now the North is in charge. I guess the Ijaws want to mess back PMB. Abi! But, no, some will say BH is festering because of incompetent leadership. I thought it should now be North against North.
The same way they said Buhari was gone, and that we have Jibrin in the villa. Yet they won’t allow Buhari rest in his ‘grave,’ always condemning him when it is Jibrin in charge! Haba!!!

Now the recruits/commissioned officers who are in the front lines of the war can voice out their challenges to their President and actions taken immediately.

Front liners morale are boosted too.

Till you work in the front line of any society emergency, you won't appreciate what first responders pass through to safeguard and protect the society.

Your definition of leadership has been bastardized by the definition given by the weak men of today.

Go and check the history of a successful warring nation, their kings lead from the war front.

There is a difference between leading from the war front and leading in the war front.

He is leading from the war front, not in the war front.
