War is very expensive to sustain. A sound general takes note of this and moves to end a war as quickly as possible. A general that sees an opportunity to deal a great blow on the enemy(win the war) and hesitates, lacks human empathy and this act is seen as an act of inhumanity to the people.

It’s not about going to the war front. But by taking measures that shows he’s concerned and boost the morals of the combatants. Did you see Debby shooting?
