Tanx BouharryArtikou for the advice.
Just want to ask if you attended the University. Do you mean that the Project management course (with advanced practice) is not a good choice. Can you explain more about the Tuition payment plan for International students.
Tanx

1. I did not attend the University
2. I have friends, more than 4 of them who attended .
3. I have gone to 110, Middlesex Street with them, several times.
4. I have been privileged to see their course content, and seen the quality of presentation of the course content.
5. Yes, they do have a kinda flexible fees payment plan.

All my friends that were there, not a single one thought the quality they got was value for money. Infact, 2 of them said they are ashamed of the quality - they could be wrong.

Prior to going, they were under the impression that the university will help them to get placement places. Well, the help could be in the form of giving you a letter, stating you are a student. Or sending you list of organisations that are recruiting (which you could have got on your own from the Internet anyway).

At the end of the day, my folks could not get any placement. The university asked them to write long essay (dissertation) in lieu.
Plus, the Uni told them that during the ‘placement’ period, they are technically still on term. Which means that even the back-breaking Care, security and hospitality jobs they got was expected to have the 20-hour limit.

It may be different for other courses ohhh, but Masters in Project management is not worth the money.

If the underground motive of an applicant is to use tier-4 to zap from Buhari’s Nigeria and hope for open doors in Boris’ UK then maybe it’s not such a bad idea. But if the aim is to become a competent, cutting-edge professional Project Manager, then think twice.

Thanks I really appreciate that.
Main motive is getting a Uni with flexible tuition payment plan, coming for the M. Sc and having the degree. We all know that University degrees doesn't guarantee you automatic employment in UK or any part of the world. Have seen Train cleaners in UK earning less than £20000 yearly becoming a Train driver and earning £70000 yearly.

Hello Yampotatocarrot,

Personally, I think the university is right. MSc in biomedical science does not allow one to work as a BMS.
What qualifies the person is his/her undergraduate degree (not necessarily UK undergraduate degree)

1. Was your undergraduate degree in Biomedical science/Medical Laboratory Science?
1a. If yes, do you have any relevant work experience in the field?
1b. If No (to question 1), then you will have to convince HCPC that your undergraduate degree is relevant to BMS practice...If not, I doubt you will ever be to able to work in that field in the UK even with your MSc.

Your answers to the questions above will determine my further advice.

Kind regards

Waoh, I love the way you write. Very simple and understandable.

Thanks for the reply. My undergraduate wasn't in biomedical sciences, I actually thought a B.Sc in any of the biological sciences will be able to scale through, now I know better.

Please, what options do I have now, since running a undergraduate degree in B.Sc is out of it for me?

Thanks again

I also applied to them first without any reply. Decided to apply to others and already getting offers

I'll suggest you try other schools if you haven't already

Yes oh. I have. Applied to University of Surrey and RGU. I wonder the reason for delay. Got a conditional offer from RGU and waiting for Surrey and Coventry.

The M.Sc course was kind of meant for those who were already practising practitioners.

This is not true Cus I completed MSc Biomedical Sciences even before getting a job

The only way one can practice is by going for the undergraduate biomed course, or applying directly to the institute itself.

U don’t necessarily need an undergraduate degree in Biomedical Sciences just like my undergrad was in Biochem. You can have ur degree assessed by IBMS who will then tell u the topup modules u need to do to meet their requirement

Although completing an undergrad in Biomed is direct access

What did u study in ur undergrad and what course is the offer from Teeside

Yampotatocarrot:
@omopapa, please this might be lengthy but I'll try to make it as understandable as possible. Bear with me.

While waiting for Bradford's decision on my English proficiency, I got a mail from Wolverhampton stating that even though their biomedical science course is accredited by IBMS, completing the course does not allow one work as a biomedical scientist afterwards, and this applies to ALL IBMS-accredited masters course, irrespective of university.

They said the M.Sc course was kind of meant for those who were already practising practitioners. The only way one can practice is by going for the undergraduate biomed course, or applying directly to the institute itself.

(Note: I haven't applied to Wolverhampton yet. I saw the caveat while trying to apply and decided to contact them to get more information on that)

Please, I'm confused. Isn't there a way around this, considering I already have another offer from Teesside?

I think that's the mistake your friends made. Universities DO NOT guarantee placements for students. It is the students responsibility to look for and secure a placement themselves. The university can assists with tips of getting one and advertise roles within their portals and that's about basically it.

Universities might not state this clearly (hence the impression) but once courses start, a different ball game entirely.

First guide to studying abroad is 'funds'. Are you going to be self funded or part funded/fully funded scholarship?

Once that's determined, the rest follows

Thanks for your swift response. September is like 5months away, I can start reading ahead. This lockdown period could be very beneficial in that regard as I am always indoors.

When you say it would cost me a bit do you mean Financially, as in cost of the Masters program or there are other things that would require Finance? I have checked an MRES in Biomedical Laboratory Science and it cost about 14,000pounds and I am sure the school will give discount.

My major concern is that I don’t have experience in this line, do you think this could be a limitation? Kindly share your thoughts and experience, thank you.

Yes financially and maybe emotionally if you are studying and working at the same time. Like I said earlier a masters programme will be ur entry to the uk then u can apply to do topup modules (after ur masters) to bring ur degree up to standard.

As with the experience, there are options. Volunteering which could also be as hard as getting a job or doing another CPD programme that will give u direct access to jobs

Hello house, please I'll like your honest advice.
I studied Biochemistry, graduated last 2 years with a 4.05 Cgpa. The issue now is, I want to study MSC pre registration Nursing in the UK, but my dad wants me to study Biotechnology or Biomedicine. Which one of the three course will increase my chances of getting a job in the UK?
I really love nursing as a course.

Biomed or Nursing

Nursing is ur best bet. You qualify as a nurse with ur pin in less than 2 years

Biomed, u still have to do some additional courses before you can practice
