Fear became a tangible, living force that crept over Aaron like some hungry beast, immobilizing him, his brain, holding him captive...., his breathe came in short as he gasp from the pains he was feeling..., he couldn't sleep a wink the previous night, all that kept beating in his head was the way he's going to die.., he knew no amount of pleading will stop the queen from ordering his death sentence especially when she finds out he's been sleeping with the princess..
His mind brood over how it all started.., he was on his own doing his guard duties when the princess walked up to him..

"What's your name...?"The princess had asked him...

He was scared at the same time a bit glad the princess looked his way.., after the king and queen, the princess was the third most feared person in the palace, she doesn't take bullshit and always held her head high above everyone else, so it was certainly a thing of utmost surprise to him when she walked up to him....

"Aaron.."He had replied in a gentle voice he barely heard himself..., the feeling was blithe yet excruciating....., he never thought that single gesture could lead him to her bed.., to getting inside her..., he never wanted to but she was the princess and the princess always gets what she wants...

"We..., we're just friends..."He mutter with pants breathe, the way his heart was beating, he fears he'll collapse even before a death sentence comes for him..

The expression on her face makes Aaron thinks she suspects they were having a relationship, she isn't just sure...

Tiger stepped closer to him and continue..."You're going to call Chief Borgias and tell him the news is real, that the king is alive and the queen knows about it.., you overheard our conversation that Marcus will render him powerless if presented as the bait..., since he won't be able to let them kill him, he'll listen to any negotiations, so rescuing Marcus from Borgias is the only way to stop that from happening.., in addition you'll tell him you overheard where the king is hiding, you'll tell him the king is hiding on the wastelands in the outskirts of town..., and then you're going to advise him to take Marcus along because that will render the king powerless and will be open to any negotiations presented before him...., do you understand....,?"

For a moment, he just stood shaking...

Miranda woke suddenly, every thought in high definition, her eyes take in every ray of light and without a doubt she know She had slept too long resting her head on the table..., she blink, heaved a sluggish yawn before standing up to stare at the laptop...

It took her a few seconds to realised the laptop was already off from low battery.. , she closed it and walk lazily towards her bed and slumped on it...

The broken pieces of her life came flashing in her vision driving away all atom of sleep from her eyes...., she quickly climb down from the bed and walk towards the bathroom, she washed her face as her mind drove her to the past...

"Mum, why do people wash their face every morning...?"She had asked her mother when she little...,, her mother's responsive smile came clear in her vision...

"These are things people do to wash away the dirts of the night and urshered in a new smile in their life.."Her mother had reply....

The answer was ridiculous but she took it to her heart and since then she had always done the needful....

She sigh and wrapped her hair in a ponytail before she left the bathroom and stop at the wardrobe.., she look at the dirty clothes and her head revisit the way Lawrence was looking at her scattered clothes, in that moment she wonder what he was thinking....
Confused on where to start from, she took the whole clothes from the wardrobe, a metal container fell and it clattered on her legs .

She bit her lip to wash the pain out before picking the container to see what was inside..., at first she thought it was her earring since she was fond of keeping earrings in cans...

Slowly, she uncapped it, her eyes widened in surprise when she saw some of her mother's jewellery...., that painful moment when she had to pack some of her mother's things after her demise came crushing her mind.., bringing back the memories she has tried to forget...

She hold one of the chains and hold the pendant, she almost cry just looking at it and remembering her mother, she dropped it back on the container but something caught her eyes.., a picture...., she took it and stare at the person's face.....

"Take this picture..."Her mother had said to her when she 16years old...."Whenever you're in trouble and need help, find this man and he'll help and protect you..."

"Mum, why do I need protection from someone else when I have you and dad..?"She had innocently asked her mother..

She remember how her mother smiled, like she isn't going to be there for her as much as she needed...

"Yes dad...."He said and ended the call before turning to face the men he came with...."I'm going alone from here on, keep your eyes on me, if you see anyone with a gun, do not hesitate before killing him.."

He watch the men nod before he face Marcus whose hands were tied...."You're coming with me.."He stated dragging him...

After a few minutes of walk, Liam's curiosity is peaked, he thought no one can be that still, not even him. Even so, he still move forward slowly closing the distance between him and the figure...., the figure was dressed in royal attire with beads visibly showing in the back of his neck but it wasn't turning around to face him and liam wondered why..., if it's the king, why hasn't turn to face him yet....

He scan his eyes around incase of any danger or surprises..., there was something about the place that unnerved him.., it was too quiet and if it's the king standing in front of him, why come alone...., he was definitely walking into a trap, he knew that but he continued, living on Aaron's words, Marcus is his leverage......

He trot on and finally closed the distance between him and the figure......, he grew furious when the figure didn't still turn to face him....

"Your majesty..."He said taking his gun out..., if there will be surprises, he needed to be ready....

He curl his lip when no reply came.., great fury hit him and he quickly stepped forward to see the figure face...

Irritation sliced across his face when he realise the figure was just a mannequin dressed in king attire.....

"Fùck you.."He growled kicking the dummy until it fell..., he flare his nostrils, anger beating every muscles in him..., he turn around but he was a split second late, bullets, fierce and deadly came for him, hitting every part of his body not even giving him an opportunity to shoot back...

He dropped down on the grass and that was when his men open fire......

The intruders took Marcus away as they shoot back at Liam's men...

"Then we'll assume you know something about it or perhaps you started a lie and hid the body to hide away the evidence..."

"So either way, there's consequences....?"

"Where is the king's body Tiger...?"Ikoro asked with all form of seriousness

Berseck hit Tiger's stomach as she move her gaze from Ikoro to Miguel whose chin was curving with smile..., then to Sulieman..."I'm sorry you cannot see the king..."

"If you refuse us this demand..."Ikoro said....."We'll assume you're the perpetrator of this lie and you'll pay dearly for it..."

"And what is the consequences...?"Tiger queried...

"Your son will never ascend the throne.., and sucessorship will be shift from your lineage to another right this moment.."

Tiger gawked her teeth, rage burning in her eyes..."I see what this is all about..., this is just your plan to stop my son from succeeding his father's throne..."

"So you're indeed the perpetrator of this lie...."

"I'm not..."She replied sharply

"Then show us the king's body..."

Tiger heaved a deep sigh of anger..."Alright then...., I'll take you to see the king's body..."

A taunting smile surround Ikoro lips seething Tiger with rage.., when she turned to walk away, they followed her.., she could hear them muttering words to themselves like they've won...

Her heart pounded heavily as they walk along the hallway leading to the room the king's body was kept.., her mind brood over Ikoro's words, this was just a plan to stop her son from stepping on the throne...

She stood and quickly spun around to face them when they got to the room door...

"Open it...."Ikoro said...

Tiger's fingers trembled making her turn around before they noticed she was trembling....

"Open the door...."Ikoro commanded

Heart pulsating, she glance back at Iroko then Miguel before settling them on Sulieman who shook his head motioning her not to do it...if she does...it's all over, everything she has planned and have been fighting for will find it's way to hell....

When Iroko stepped towards her, it triggered her anger and she immediately hold the door knob and pulled it down...., it didn't take a second before the door sprung wide open....

Shocked raced across their faces when they saw the person sitting on a chair inside.....

The sight sent Iroko and Miguel staggering back.., their heart racing with tremendous speed....

"Impossible...."Ikoro mutter as he stare at the king's face.....

"Your majesty...."Miguel blare out with pants breathe...."You're alive..."

He raised his hand and Sulieman stepped in his front....

"The king wants you to leave...."Sulieman said to them..."He's not in the mood to talk.., he needs his rest..."

Shock crippled Miguel for a moment as he stare at the king's face, he wore his royal attire and in his hand was the staff of authority...

"The king doesn't want to be disturbed...."Sulieman added before closing the room door...

Nostrils flaring, Tiger spun around to face them...."The next time you accuse me of spreading lies...., I'll react differently...."

Ikoro glare at her before he walk away furiously, Miguel shamefully walking behind him....

Sulieman followed them to make sure they were out of the palace before he ran back to queen Tiger...."I don't understand.."He said..."I thought you said the rumour was a lie..., the king is supposed to be dead..., who's is sitting there...?"

Tiger motioned one of the AS squad guard to open the door.., when the thug did.., they walk into the room....

"It's a faux..."Tiger said and quickly pulled the fake king's face from Aaron's face..

Sulieman flinched, shock still holding him captive...."When did you plan all this..?"He asked curiously

"I know this was going to happen, so I prepared ahead, I made the face the very first day I was putting the plan together, those damn fools couldn't even spot any difference..."

"You said you'll let me go after I do this..."Aaron chimes in with quivering lips...

"Of course..."Tiger said back with a smile..."Thank you Aaron..., you were a life saver in the time of need..."

"Thank you.."Aaron replied..

Tiger smile slip and in that split second the thug sharply place a rope around Aaron's neck, dragged him to himself and began to strangle him with the rope cutting off his air supply...

Aaron struggled against him but it was useless.., his hands fell to his side when his energy escape him.., his face turn into a sickening colour and that was when he let go of the fight and gave up the ghost.....

Satisfy he was dead, Tiger turn her gaze to Sulieman...."No one can take the throne from us, not a man, not the gods, not even the almighty...."
