Sir, so many events happened between the time it sold at that high price and the current price. Examples are share bonus, dividend payout, dividend yield increase etc.

Consequently, smart long term investors who study financial statements of the companies they are invested in and pay attention to the figures will see the sign and bail out before the tsunami grin.

Pa Emma(@emmanuelewumi) is a long term investor, and I hope he will shed more light on this.

Stick to whatever works for you, I am okay with my style.

I invest with figures and if the figures are good, I hold on as long as the figures justify the valuation of the businesses. This doesn't stop one from capitalising from the madness in the market.

It’s actually one of the company’s financial statements I read... it’s a company I like for no particular reason... I’m just thinking of the long term shareholders that have been holding for years, do you ever see it rebounding in the mid term like the likes of uacn and Wapco are
Sir, try and study their most recent financial statement, it'll definitely guide you and help you to make an informed decision if it's a buy or not. I already shared my opinion on what I think a long term investor in any stock on NSE should do in order not to get their hands burnt.

That's more like 103 naira to 7 naira.

Management can make or mar a business.

This happened at a time when Bunmi Oni was getting all kinds of award from NSE and corporate Nigeria.

This made the company to sell at a premium. The fundamentals did not support the price, finally management betrayed the confidence Investors had on the business.

Cadbury could not pay a dividend of N3.00 when it sold for over N100.00. One of the signals that will tell me to sell and buy Treasury Bill that will pay me a minimum of 10%

Exactly. In summary, pay attention to the figures(INVESTOR)/ride on the madness of the market(TRADER).

There is a difference capitalising on the madness of the market based on figures and capitalising on the madness of the market based on sentiments.

Zenith at less than N10.00 is madness based on figures, but might not be madness based on market sentiment especially when the market is bearish. No those buying on sentiments refused to buy at N10.00 but are rushing to buy at N13.00 and above

Sir, I want to ask, is the ROI for Treasury Bill monthly on your principal or Yearly?

Not many of the long term investors are like Emmanuel because most Nigerians have terrible reading culture, even reading a small page quarterly financial statements they find it difficult regardless of bulky year end financials. We have even seen it here where some members will be waiting for summary and analysis of financial results from others who have taken precious time to read and digest the document.

The point is if you are not ready to create enough time to pore over numbers, invest aggressively in information sourcing, track industry and macro economic events including being a voracious reader, i am sorry, long term investment is not for you.

The first is usually based on fundamentals, the the second is based on demand and supply ( market sentiment)

Zenith bank at N5.00 is madness and very good opportunitt based on the figures, but market sentiments can see it as overpriced.

In that case Investors who understand the figures will continue to buy the stock until the market madness ceases

Currently poor 5%.

We have earned between 16% to 20% true yield in the past from Treasury Bills when the stock market was struggling and poor.

All ROI are on per annum basis, which can later be pro rated

Not everyone can read and interpret financial statements. There are many in the market who rely on financial experts to give summary of the numbers from those companies before making their financial decisions.

You're right, sir. If you must invest your hard-earned money in a company, then you have to invest some time into studying the financials!

It's fine if an investor cannot read charts but I feel every investor should try and learn how to read and interpret financial statements. We all should make use of this lockdown as an opportunity to acquire new skills that will help us to make informed decisions regarding our investment moving forward.

The Sterling bank lady is the daughter of Rite Foods Oga Patapata Adebola Adegunwa. Baba for the boys.

You forgot to say Adebola Adegunwa started as a photographer. He later became the major distributor of Kodak film in Nigeria. He also had photo laboratories all over Nigeria. The properties are now used as Depot for Rite food products and Bigi drink products.

One of the advantages of real estate, the investment can be converted to other uses

Ess-ay Holdings owned by Adebola Adegunwa with headquarters at Adebola House Opebi Ikeja Lagos is a major shareholder of Sterling Bank and CSCS. The company has interest in real estate, manufacturing, insurance, marine, hoslitality etc

Bunmi oni did me strong thing with his stunts at Cadbury.

https://cashmoneyfocus.com/another-look-at-cadbury-nigeria-plc/

They have since recovered from the Bunmi Oni saga of 2006. The company still has some strategy and portfolio issues to deal with and its not related to Bunmi Oni but rather to the Mondelez Group.

Taking advantage of information they are privy to about the company to trade the company's shares. It's against the company policy in many multinationals.

Taking advantage of information they are privy to about the company to trade the company's shares. It's against the company policy in many multinationals.

There is no law that prevents directors or members of the board from buying or selling shares of their company. They only need to inform the Sec and NSE when they do which is what happened in the releases that were publicised.

The law however prevents them from buying or selling shares in their company during sensitive periods e.g. When they are considering quarterly or audited reports. This is why there is a closed period around these events where those with privileged information can't buy or sell shares....

Hope this helps...
