Mctee07:

Hi guys

Hope we are all keeping safe

So i have 4 admissions and im trying to decide on which to go for, i would appreciate any insight as regards, job opportunities during study and after studies, living expenses and other relevant info. My first choice is Hertfordshire, but the fee is double of the others....lol Please see the schools below;

De Montfort University - MSc Advanced Biomedical Science - 1yr
University of Hertfordshire - MSc Nursing (Adult) - 2yrs
Teesside University - Master of Public health (Applied) - 2yrs
Birmingham City University - Master of Public health - 1yr

Thank you

Based on the 4 University above, the living cost of the 4 cities are almost equal. Going for M. Sc Nursing, you can get yourself in NHS depending on your performance due to shortage of staff in UK health sector.
Graduating from any of remaining universities /courses, you can get yourself a Post study work visa which eligible you to work in UK.
*job opportunities during study is guaranteed on 20hrs depending on your commitment to work.
You now need to decide if you can finance yourself on the tuition fee. If not, go for the cheapest tuition fee/flexibility option that suits you.
Decision making is left for you.
Good luck

Option 2 seems the best and easiest to secure a job after.

That works out to a monthly take home of about 1,300 or so at a standard 40 hour week.
And the low pay jobs you speak of will also not be in the quantity they were available before, except probably in eldercare. Other sectors of the service industries will take a while to return to previous capacities.

Not disputing your point but do you know this is a global pandemic. UK government paying or asking Employers to pay 80% wages make jobs to be secured. A student with his/her partner living in a double room shared apartment of £600 at most with bills inclusive monthly, both earning a combined income of £30000 year should be able to have savings if truly they are in UK for greener pasture.
Once the pandemic is over, most sectors will be back in operation.

Based on the info gathered on here:

Teesside seems to be pulling crowd especially on this thread. Their tuition is around £9-11k and deposit is low (about £4K)

How can a couple that got married few months to their tier 4 visa application prove genuine & subsisting. No shared utility bills, council tax bills or joint bank statements as we are not really used to these stuffs in Naija.

Just thinking aloud! The negativity on this thread is absolutely lousy and it would make you believe that as a Student in UK you can not make it but that’s actually not the truth as it being portrayed out here. I noticed those false alarms are proportionally being bLoaned by those that haven’t flown out of Nigeria before. My advise to all prospective candidates is this don’t mind what people are saying about UK here. Make up your mind to achieve the best and surely you will achieve the best. I have been in UK for less than 5 months and UK has been predominantly good to me in all entity. Atleast I don’t struggle to pay my bills and feed myself as a week work can settle all my expenses for one month. I even have a car in UK as an international student despite people portraying having a car as a big deal in UK. Go for the best and the sky will be your limit.

Nice one. But ensure you concentrate on your studies. Ensure you are not working more than 20 hrs per week. The consequences could be devastating later when applying for PSW or post brexit immigration.

Good luck.

Not only for PSW, working more than 20 hours even affects your studies. Most students come out with 2:2 or merit or pass because they’re working more hours to pay tuition and bills. I regret doing business during my uni days because to say I read more, I would have come out with better grades. Earning money is good but certificate first

True.

@wongwe, you can also check out Chester. Tuition fee is around 11k, then with scholarship, you'll be paying between 8-9k
