I'm happy discovering this thread

I would love answers to some of my questions here.

1. What app do you use to invest? I have tried using Bamboo and it takes like 24 hours before it processes the stock. Is there anyone that processes the stock in real time?

2. In cases where stock prices drop before it is a able to process, how do you handle this? Say for instance, at the point of buying the stock, the stock price is $180 but when the stock is successfully processed, you are debited $190

Thanks

ROKU (Yesterday's price $113)

Based purely on technical analysis, this will give a quick returns.
For those who understand technical charts, ROKU is now sitting on a beautiful "Double-Bottom" as shown in the attached chart which is sure to give a good short term return.
I am in.

It was $107 on monday, now it is $130, bought a few, sad I wasn't able to buy much.

We are making gradual progress. i want to do a mix of long term stocks (e.g. Apple and Canadian big 6 banks) and short term stocks (e.g. Tesla, Netflix).
I cant do alot of trading in my tax free account not to incur the wrath of the taxman.
Maybe Ill open another account that's taxable just for day to day trading.

Sweet win.

I use Trove and Chaka(Tried once and didnt find the user-interface that friendly).

That's a painfully slow turn around.
I bought ROKU today using Trove and found it added to my portfolio in seconds.

Thanks

There is still a grey area that I await Mr Tomi to respond to regarding dividend payout. Most stocks in my portfolio are dividend-paying stocks, but I have not received the dividend that was paid by one of my holdings on 14/04/2020. On the other hand, I received email notification inviting me to the AGM of one of my dividend-paying holdings on Chaka and my dividend reflected in my trading account afterwards.

I so much love Trove's interface, but it seems I would have to invest in non-dividend paying firms through the platform while I buy dividend-paying stocks through Chaka.

Nice analysis. I started buying the stock in january for $134 but it kept falling so I added to my position in small trenches, last purchase was in march for $100 but it kept dropping. I didn't add more after that although I wish I did, it fell to $60. My cost average is $120.93 so it's nice to finally see it make a turn around. I will place a tight sell order just as protection since it has rallied hard in 1 month.

I will be cautious with Halibuton (HAL). OPEC just cut global oil demand forecast and the stock has rallied some 20% since march 18th. It is amongst the worst performing stocks of 2020. If I were to buy the stock, I will do so at this level with a price target of $8 or 10% increase from today's close.

I just bought Kraft Heinz Company (KHC) at the closing. Someone recommended this stock on this thread a while back for its dividend yield. The stock has been moving sideways to lower trend in the past 12 months. The chart looks like it is bottoming and with the increase in eat-at-home due to the coronavirus I think it may be worth taking a shot at it. The 5.7% dividend yield is also juicy although I don't know how safe it is.

I also bought a few shares in CrowdStrike (CRWD) the cyber security firm. I have been in and out of this name in the past but this is a speculative trade. I'm going the stock rallies past its february high of $66.68, if it does it may go as high as $75. I will set a sell stop order at $50 to take me out if it fails.

I don't know if anyone is in this name Chewy (CHWY) the online pet and grooming supplies store. This company, like Zoom, Teledoc and a few others have benefited from the pandemic. Traders rejected it at the high $40s. I closed the call options on monday for a nice gain but I still own a few shares. I'm setting my sell stop order at $39.

Happy Easter great people.
Gilead holders, this could be another reason to hold or ride the news.

STOCK FOCUS: GILD ($76.54)
The ETF that tracks the S&P 500 rallied in after-hours trading today after a report said a Gilead Sciences drug was showing effectiveness in treating the coronavirus.

Gilead Sciences shares surged by more than 15% in after-hours trading Thursday after an industry publication said Covid-19 patients being treated with the company’s antiviral drug Remdesivir appear to have “rapid recoveries in fever and respiratory symptoms.”

Gilead holders get set for a good ride tomorrow.
I hold some position here too; so I guess am gonna be a part of the jolly ride. grin

Do you have any reference as regards the taxman frowning against trading in your TFSA account?

This indicates you can buy and sell. Its called self-directed TFSA

Hey Seyi,

Dividends for US stocks are paid to your dollar wallet. You can also view dividends paid to you on your monthly statement available in the downloads center in the settings of the app. Please note that dividends on fractional shares take a day or two to reflect in your wallet as they dividends have to be divided amongst each holder of a portion of a share.

Hi Tomisin,

I went through some of the posts on the thread and realized you are a co-founder at Trove.

I just discovered the app yesterday and it's quite a nice app but I was wondering why there's a low social media engagement.

I got to know about the other investment alternatives via Twitter. Upon searching for Trove on Twitter, I couldn't really find you guys (although I found a Troveapp which has 0 post).

Keep on with the hardwork. We are solidly behind you.

Also, what's the average timeframe for dollar deposits?
