ojeysky: Oh, you later got that ANT version. Cool. This one has other range, just not as versatile as the ANT. But many that bought this says it rocks. Let's hope it'll enter Naija just as we wrap up lockdown |
Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by adrusa: 10:55am On Apr 18, 2020 |
mctfopt: But since nothing is coming in now, what is the point in buying? Why not wait till this is over. I thought you had a local seller. Thanks. |
Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by mctfopt: 11:37am On Apr 18, 2020 |
adrusa: Things are coming in. You just don't get to see access it. Some of these things can't be sourced locally, you just don't have option but to buy it outside. So, dependent on your level of acceptable risk, you can buy now and collect whenever they call off the lockdown. These products will take up to five weeks to get here. Do you think the lockdown will extend to that time? No one really knows, but I'm sure they'll be riot if it continues the way it is for another five weeks. |

olaolu11:It's one OX fan o and one Rechargable Mist fan. The OX is not the industrial type though, it's the normal one, is that the one you are referring to? Any idea on the watts? |

olaolu11: Can you recommend standing fans to use? My current fan (OX AC 230V 50HZ 70W) makes a very loud annoying noise whenever I'm on inverter (Mercury 1.2 modified sine wave with Luminous battery) |

Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by essegis(m): 6:22pm On Apr 18, 2020 |
khattab008: Your inverter is not pure sine wave that's why. Not all equipment flow well with modified sine waves so it's better to improve your inverter to pure sine instead of buying another fan. |
Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by saint2ace(m): 6:51pm On Apr 18, 2020 |
khattab008: I seem to be in the same shoes, got a 12v 4000w pure sine wave off grid inverter from Jumia global, but on testing it the noise coming from my TV speakers was something else. But once I change it back to grid power or my prag inverter the noise disappears. I'm contemplating returning it back to Jumia and getting a refund, but I need to be very sure before doing that as all my fans are DC fan and I don't have any coil based equipment to further test and confirm. Can anyone advise on a means of confirmation to know for sure it's pure or modified sine wave. Attached is a picture of the said inverter.

Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by omotoda(m): 7:14pm On Apr 18, 2020 |
saint2ace: The inverter is not pure sine wave.Get rid of it before it spoils your TV.I had similar issues when I was using Mercury modified sine wave.Humming noise from my Samsung 43'' TV and ceiling fans. The TV eventually developed issues.Just go for truly pure sine wave jeje!! |
Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by khattab008: 7:36pm On Apr 18, 2020 |
essegis: Thanks for the recommendation, I'll try to get a pure sine wave instead. Wish I knew this before buying it though, I'll probably end up with an inverter I'm not using. saint2ace: As omotoda pointed out, I believe the problem is with inverter, probably best to switch to pure sine wave. |
Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by saint2ace(m): 8:54pm On Apr 18, 2020 |
khattab008: It's unfortunate cos I actually wanted a pure sine wave inverter and it has a sticker of pure sine wave boldly imprinted on it. I have a 1500w capacity of a similar Chinese inverter brand that works well. This is just unfortunate. But if I can't get a means of confirming the true sine wave of the inverter, I'll just return it and count my losses. 1 Like |

tipzy001: From comparing your picture to images online, what i saw says your fan is ox standing fan "sf-1618". If that is correct, then your fan is 56 watts.

Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by olaolu11(m): 11:26pm On Apr 18, 2020 |
khattab008: As has been said earlier, modified sine wave inverters are not the best. Aside technicalities, the characteristics humming noise is always a problem. I will advise that no matter what a seller says, do an independent review of hat you want to buy before making the purchase. Many sellers come to my place of work to advertise varied products; all i do is check the product name and details, pick up my phone and verify the claims of the seller against what i am able to find out. Then i will begin to ask him questions. I patronize aliexpress a lot but before i make a purchase, i look at review of past purchasers of the product. I was once tempted to buy an inverter like that but after asking questions, the seller introduced another product that is a true pure sine wave. It was more than double the initial price. But i also learnt the hard way. 70 watts for a standing fan is on the high side to me. While searching for a low wattfan to buy, i discovered addrakk, qasa, century and boscon. I settled for boscon because it was the best sturdy wise(why buy fan that doesnt look strong and sturdy?) Qasa has lower power consumption(33watts)but doesnt look strong enough compared to boscon(40watts). Its blade is 18 inches as against 16 inches that is common. It was advertised for 22k-24k online but I got it for 17k haven connected to seller at alaba. Will post picture later. 2 Likes |

Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by olaolu11(m): 11:38pm On Apr 18, 2020 |
generalstingz: That is 16 inches blade. Its 18inches blade consumes 33watts. But boscon is better in terms of stability, sturdiness ans aesthetics though it has higher power consumption at 40watts for same 18 inch blade. And it id rechargeable with 12v 4.5ah battery.

olaolu11:Thank you so very much. With 56 watts, I guess it's good for usage with an inverter setup, right? |

Boscon ac/dc 18 inches rechargeable fan

tipzy001: Reasonably so but could be better. You already bought it so unless you want to dash it out or you have large storage space, then you are stuck with it for now. 1 Like |

olaolu11:My problem with most of psw inverters is the high self consumption, I use a msw souer 1000w inverter whose self consumption is around 8watts thereby making the battery last very long compared to a normal inverter. Maybe it is also because of the ferrite core transformer in it compared to the iron core in most of the other inverters that is the determinant, I have also been using it with my electronics for a little over a year with no effect albeit humming from the ceiling fan which is bearable. Which brand is your psw inverter by the way 1 Like 1 Share |

olaolu11: lol. Badu belle I pray God gives you the financial strenght soon to hop on the lithium wagon. Hopefully the lowering price keeps its trajectory and naira does not further plummet against the dollar. And of course may vendors not flood the market with fakes so that the lithium experience is not bastardised for everyone. 1 Like |
