Brent has broken down.

The government will need to learn the hard way.

They have been paying lip service to diversification.

There should be another devaluation in my opinion . Maybe to N500.

Our options are limited...
Now that we are begging IMF and world bank for money, I want to believe devaluation will be one of the conditions.

Free floating exchange rate is the solution.

After having a read of Nairametrics analysis @UACN, I better understood the figures on the UACN result and why OGG think its a BUY.

Nairametrics recommends a BUY for UACN with a TP of N17.0; have a read below:

https://nairametrics.com/2020/04/21/quick-take-loss-from-discontinued-operations-drives-uacns-net-loss-in-fy-2019/

@Bomboclad, thanks for sharing a second perspective on this.
The thing is that a prophet is not usually regarded in their own clime.
The things we take for granted on this forum make me marvel, I will forever remain indebted to all those who take their time to do their due diligence and are benevolent enough to share their knowledge to us.( No need to mention names).
It is okay to disagree, infact it is human nature, but we must all learn to keep our biases in check, disagree respectfully and learn to bow to superior arguments. For it is only when we allow ideas to clash that the best can be distilled for economic growth.

So the fact that an analyst gives a BUY rating for a stock means it's an automatic BUY, okay o,you better be weary of analysts and do your due diligence, and possibly do comparison among analysts

There is no doubt that UACN is a great company .But overpaying for a great company might not be the best idea. You must remember that we have different level of risk appetite(buying things that makes you sleep well at night). While some like to buy stocks when they are dirt cheap, some prefer to just ride the trend when the stock starts moving .Some might be comfortable buying UACN at 7+ ,while others might be comfortable buying it at 4+ ,this does not even mean the person buying at 4+ would make money more than the person buying at 7+(this is where patience comes in)

It is a great idea to Do NOTHING, and watch the trend of events especially when there is so much noise and uncertainties surrounding a company

Devaluation will bite very hard on Nigerians who are already impoverished to stupor. Purchasing ability will be almost wiped out. I still see the scars of the last pseudo-devaluation on people. What is the point having money that can't afford anything.

Technically, we are already in a recession.

Funding the budget is out of reach of this regime. I hope they don't owe salaries.

Q4 2019 had a GDP growth rate of 2.55%.

So Q1 2020 may not be adversely impacted. It is Q2 2020 that will be the issue.

To be in technical recession, you should have 2 quarters of negative growth rate.

So you are foreseeing this issue lasting till end of September for us to be in technical recession?

I don't share that view.

Most companies/countries are introducing measures to restart economies. Emirates wants to space people in flights. So you no need Business class anymore niyen nauw. grin grin Heat wan finish airliners.

So I am expecting this April ending, May, June to have pick up in economic activities so as to limit the impact of economic sudden stop globally.

India opened up partially. Maybe Nigeria may open up once this lockdown expires next week.

There will be job losses in Nigeria and hardship will bite more. Informal jobs will suffer alot because in 9ja there is no stimulus to reach all small businesses to prevent layoffs.

Trump that posted about an oil deal is now posting Plenty of Oil grin grin grin

Oil price crashing... We expect more devaluation in coming months...more borrowing even as our ratings become junk!

In businessday papers today governors are predicting that FAAC allocation for States in June will be zero grin

The only argument is that some see all this downtrend for the year, but still believe the NSE is going up!

And I ask , go to where ? grin

My Punishment:

I would live rent free in their heads throughout the year...every time their portfolio goes down by 10%

Good morning grin

* You play long term yeah yeah...but you are more interested in a stock gaining N1 that you over look all fundamentals that point to a downtrend.

You go dey alright las las grin

We've heard. But remember when you predicted that chams will hit N1 and how that prediction went? We know those with good track record when it comes to predictions. But all sides of the analysis are welcome.

Happy to read arguments and disagreements relating to the market, that is the importance of the forum (though not happy to see abusive words and mockery in-between)

My position on the market:

Let us learn to distinguish between the sellers market and the buyers market. Since Monday, and throughout this week, it is going to be a 'sellers market' so, yours truly will not buy any stock for now, because I see a decline of price in coming days.

Due to the aforementioned, I sold one third of my JB shares at 26.95 day before yesterday. I bought at average price of 22.89. I would sell the remaining two third If I can get enough volume at 25.50 or else I wait and chop the dividends.

This is simply my humble opinion please.

Don't worry I take more corrections than throw tantrum and insult people in a faceless forum

The problem is most people want to be lied to here...so they are blinded by their search for N1 gain and end up with loosing more funds.

The months ahead will clear their doubts.

I agree with most of your points but I don't see oil price going above our first budget benchmark this year. If that happens, it means FG can't fund the budget. Less money for infrastructural and economic activity will translate to slowing economy that might slip into recession.

FAAC doesn't even have much to share this month and may be in the coming months. That means, state will start owing salaries and contractors and then a cascade of events. I believe you know this better than I do.

For me, I think we should prepare for the worse. The guys at CBN already seem confused.

My banks have been sending me messages that I can't access XYZ amount of dollars for international transactions any more. The signs are everywhere.

I pray we survive this wave

There are merits in some of your posts but you should refrain from repeating yourself and be less assertive about your predictions.

This is not to say that some of the people who have castigated you here are not guilty of the same thing they are accusing you of.
I can bet you if someone keeps posting about how the market will go up and break out now ,they will not see any problem with that....that is called double standard.

Make your analysis and bear it in mind that anybody could be wrong cool
